  • He kept that youthful voice all his life. It was truly a gift.

  • Unsinkable Molly Brown is one of my favorite musicals. I love Harve Presnell and this is such an amazing song. I was hoping to find some of his other songs from "Unsinkable Molly Brown" on YT but, I'm not having much luck. I was looking for "Colorado My Home" . You and your Dad are wonderful. I"m so sorry he's no longer with us.

  • This is fantastic..not just daughter & father, but two singers in fine voice having a wonderful time! Thanks for sharing.

  • Oh, I love Harve Presnell. I never heard of his daughter but she is quite a singer as well. What a sweet duet. :D

  • thank you Maximo ....I am so happy to have this recorded memory ! so glad you enjoyed it as well ~

  • Wow, what a magical moment to have preserved. It almost doesn't seem real. Thank you for sharing. And thanks to the internet I finally know your father's name after having been captivated as a child by his performance in the film Paint Your Wagon so many years ago. Gifted performers such as your father and you help take the sting off the world's bite. Thank you.

  • Absolutely wonderful! I've loved Harve's voice since I was a kid and saw the movie "Molly Brown" He was SO awesome and sexy singing the "No" song. Just saw that he passed away in 2009, very sad, but he made SO many SO happy with his talent and awesome voice. Who knew he had a beautiful daughter with an awesome voice too! Thank you for this posting, what a treasure.

  • Thanks so much for posting this. Harve Presnell was an outstanding singer, and had a truly first class voice. But who would have predicted that he was also such a gifted actor? His work in "Fargo" was absolutely masterful. He did some distinguished acting in other films as well in his later. He was truly a master of all trades! You must be so incredibly proud of your illustrious dad. What a legacy!

  • Ruby, oh how I fell in love with your father as an eight-year-old girl watching, "The Unsinkable Molly Brown." What a gorgeous, handsome man and SUCH a voice! No one could or can compare. And to be able to still sing like he did in this video at nearly 70... Wow!!

  • I love your father's performance in Carmina Burana...

  • Ruby,

I can see............I can feel..............I marvel at the obvious love, affection & happiness shared between you and your father. :)

What a blessing, what a gift to us all........ So few share this, ever. R.I.P. Harve. May God bless you.

    Randy

  • @RubyPresnell I love your papa, too! What a fantastic video! Two knockout voices on stage together...love it.

  • Thank you Vince for sharing this with me! AWESOME! Can't wait for the TGIF concert!

  • thanks for adding us to your playlist ! we sure had fun singing together, and so happy I got to on a professional level while my dad was still alive ~

  • @RubyPresnell Your dad had one of the most beautiful voices I have ever heard. I have the Broadway and film albums he did and also the Carmina Burana CD. I always thought he was classically trained, so the Carmina Burana was a real find. I wish I'd had the chance to tell him how much I loved his gorgeous voice.

  • @arpeggio1358

agreed...he did have a true gift vocally...and just your appreciation of that, is enough for him to feel it I'm sure !

thanks for keeping his spirit alive by listening to the body of work you have of his ~

  • @arpeggio1358 Dear Ruby, Thank you so much for getting back to me. Your dad really was an especially talented performer...a superb musician. He was also a wonderful dramatic actor. I saw him in many TV shows and films. Fargo is a standout. All the best to you. Laurie

  • This is such a beautiful tribute to your Dad, Ruby, thanks for sharing it with us! I have heard a lot of music during my life without paying attention to whose it was, just knowing beauty when I heard it.

I've been correcting that deficiency this past year by study and by building a channel that's a musical time machine to transport people back as far as 1900 to any past year's music.

After adding your Dad's Maria to my 1969 playlist, I had to find more, so I've put this on my 2002 playlist!

  • Just ran across Paint Your Wagon on a Sat. morning and tuned in right in the middle of your dad's fantastic solo. Still get chills. Decided to search YouTube and was delighted to find this. His talent was amazing.

  • hmmm - for some reason my comments are being posted as my daughters ....I'm sure she'd feel the same though !

    Ruby Presnell

  • thank you Vince......so great to have it archived for me - in memory of the Joy we shared together ~ ahhh..wish for a moment I could just go back there

  • WOW!!!...There are to many words to desribe how BEAUTIFUL this performance is.......Vince Jones

  • sweet comments Belle ......he was "practically" perfect !

  • Mr. Presnell made my knees weak when i first heard Carmina Burana in 1966 and all thru the years in different roles. I think 'Fargo' made him an honorary Minnesotan too so he's practically perfect in every way. thanks Harve

  • Ruby, I have admireed your father for years. He did come along when musicals were fading or he would have been justly recognized. But looking at clips of his mature acting showws he was a powerful actor that had the ability to touch his audience.

  • Just learned of Harve's passing. Surprised. I played water volleyball with Harve just a few years ago. He was amazing. Really great shape. Killer spike. Fun guy. Was still working too, voice-over work and such. We talked about show biz-my family and his, respectively-and some more recent work he had done (Mr. Deeds, Dawson's Creek, Fargo, voice talent). Great voice. Great actor. Great guy.

  • I feel blessed every time I hear his voice, on a CD or DVD. Thank you for sharing this special moment with us. Your father will be sorely missed, although his wonderful gift will live on in song...

  • I didn't think this would REALLY make me cry, my friend~ what total love! I'm glad I stumbled on this sweet video.

    Love Stefani xo

  • yeah.....really bittersweet to have this memory - glad you saw it too !

    xo

  • Such a touching video of two stellar performers! You are so lucky to have this father/daughter video Ruby, the apple hasn't fallen far from the tree!

  • wow he still had a strong voice at age what...69 here? I was lucky to see him do Unsinkable Molly Brown on stage, but I was very very very young so I barely remember minus a few scenes. His voice still gives me shivers. Sadly heard of his passing just recently. One more wonderful singer lost to the wind.

  • I think its a damn shame that there was no real media coverage to tell us of his passing. I have just barely discovered Harve while watching episodes of Andy Barker, which was a great show btw, and the film Fargo and have been looking up some of his older stuff. I couldn't believe it when I read on IMDB that he had passed. My sincere condolences to you and your family.

He was a great actor, a great singer, and I'm sure a great father and he will be sorely missed...

    :)

  • yes, I agree on all counts ~ my father was a wonderful performer, had a great sense of humor, and was a loving, generous family man ~ he lived his life to the fullest extent - no fear and fully !!! I try to remember how grateful I am to have shared the things we did in life - and know each moment is a blessing - thus try to live from that place !!! loosing a loved one does remind us of the things that matter - that is a possitive at least ~

thanks for your comments and for caring ~

  • I saw your Dad in PAINT YOUR WAGON in the theatre in 1968...I was 7 years old and remember the Mariah song, your Dad has a Magnificent voice.

  • Ah now Harve Presnell that was a voice, I only wish he recorded a lot more. Stunning.....and to be able to sing like that at 69 too. Sadly missed.

  • Wow ! You have a wonderful voice ! It obviously runs in the fam ! Your Daddy still had it even in his later years :)

  • thanks for the sweet comment - dad never lost it, and he got better, and better in many ways with age - hope to follow in footsteps, and continue to do my joy for years to come !

    peace....

  • LOVED IT!!

  • Thanks for sharing this, I think you had wonderful parents.....talented too. i bet your dad had some stories about working with Debbie Reynolds and Connie Francis and someday maybe you can share them with us.

    Wes in NC

  • thanks wes...sorry it took so loong to get back to you ! just realized I had comments...

so many stories, most of which were humorous about his experiences throughout his career ... he had a great sense of humor and always found a way to bring laughter in to life ....he was a wonderful and fun dad - and lived his life to the full extent of joy !a good example for sure ~

  • God, your dad had such an incredible voice, even at 69!!! What a magnificent talent he was, so full of life. To me, he'll always be the guy singing "They Call the Wind Mariah". That song is so haunting every time I hear it and the only version worth listening to is the original by your dad. What a great performance by father and daughter on this video. The love between you two is so evident. Thanks for sharing this with us.

  • Amazing video, I'm so glad this performance was captured on video and glad I could be part of this special night. The love between you and your father was beautiful- he will be missed but his memory will always be with us, Rob

  • AWESOME! Hi, this is Dylan. I'm real sorry about your dad we will all remember him.

  • Truly a touching video. Thanks so much for sharing the video as well as a charity that your dad was involved with. I was looking for a way to remember him and I can't think of a better way than making a donation to Ecolife on his behalf.

  • thank you for taking the time to watch the video, but even more, for supporting Ecolife, and spreading a message of caring, integrity and tithing.....in great appreciation, Etoile Ruby Presnell

  • Wow. So touching and so beautiful. Clearly your father's love for you is only matched by how proud he is of you. And vice versa. What a blessing.

  • Etoile -

    Très nostalgique...

    Amour,

    Rogers
