Richard Hell was sitting on the floor right by the entrance door when I opened it to film the scene inside CBGB.

It was a great place to see others play when CBGB was not "discovered" yet.

As a member of the Patti Smith Group it was

normal running into members of Blondie, Talking Heads , Ramones, and many others.
