Amazing martial arts training video and I enjoyed the quality. I want to show you this style of training to you. - XXL Tae Kwon Do Practise Machine - just do a search for the martialarm in youtube or google.
Haha, u people arguing over the history of wing chun are hilarious. The fact is that u are all probably wrong. How many of u know the Chinese dialect from the 1700's? Im guessing NONE. You should be smart enough to work out that an english translation of a chinese phrase is never 1:1. Why so many different versions? Ever heard of Chinese whispers? HAHA u idiots.
Michelle Yeoh did great in this movie, quite amazing. I was shocked to learn that she's another one that's NOT a real martial artist but another dancer, though no doubt she trained hard to learn the arts and the fighting but she's not a practicing martial artist..amazing.
Bruce Lee was not a GrandMaster in Wing Chun dipshit, however Lee's Teacher Sifu Yip Man was, maybe check your history before you go around being condesending and making yourself look like an idiot.
Bruce Lee (as sorry as I feel for him and am at the same time amazed) he was taught by Yip Man, but then pissed Yip Man off over something and Yipman refused to teach him anymore. Thus was created Jeet Kune Do.
Actually Ng Mui Teached Wing Chun to Wing chun which means hope for future at chinese
Ng Mui was the last survivor from 5 of the shaolin.Wing Chun teached the same name system of kung fu to her husband then Yipman and other ppl And now William Cheun student of Yipman as Bruce lee too Is grand master of Wing Chun...:)
Bruce's very fisrt master is from Wing Chun...Bruce was the successor because he brought it to the silver screen, and because he combined it to other styles that he learned including boxing, karate...Chaoslock is right, Wing Chun was the name of the woman, the founder of this style from the 19th century...
rumor said she was also wife to master Hung Hei Kwan
Lol...faar from it. It will come as a big surprise to those who worship Bruce Lee, but for a Wing Chun man, his skill was only average or perhaps slightly above for him time. Wing Chun men had to split open rocks from six inches away, something that I doubt he acheived before he died. That was standard requirement for Wing Chun. The art is at least 200 years old or more, long before Bruce or Yip Man was born.
Your right, Bruce is not a master of wing chun. I know there are many people that worship Lee and while he was very good, tough and very strong, he strayed from his art and mixed in many other arts. He had simply stuck with wing chun longer and mixed in other gung fu arts such and northern shaolin kicking, southern ground fighting and fast wrestling he would have filled in all the gaps he saw in his training without having to leave the umbrella of gung-fu. But he was certainly a great fighter.
"Wing Chun was made known to the west by Bruce Lee and James Lee in the late 1960s in what was the single most influential introduction of Chinese Kung Fu outside China (one might equate Bruce Lee's bringing of kung fu to American television in 1964 with the arrival of the Beatles in America two years earlier). Despite Lee's rapid evolution of a personal style away from traditional Wing Chun, his association with that style was a major factor in its continued success over the years."
yea i dont know why you got -4 thumbs i read bruces book he was never a grand master... i studies wc for 5 years but these are obviously wc is the best kind of people best not to start them internet war time
I don't believe Bruce Lee ever became a grand master of Wing Chun, in fact it seems he was not that good at it, just the only guy doing it in the USA and teaching non Chinese people. He became an accomplished martial artist afterwards mixing different techniques from both oriental and occidental fighting arts.
I`m not too sure how proficient Bruce lee was at Wing chun.. rumour has it that he only reached a medium sort of level before he branched off into other martial arts and begun his path on JKD
if you want the most accurate text about the true history, philosphy, and gung fu of the shaolin chan martial arts, read: The Shaolin Grandmasters Text, buy it on amazon. The real history is in 1770s at KWANGTUNG and FUKIEN temples, ng mui AND COLLEAGUES pool thier skills to make key style better than the rest. also borrowed liberally from White Crane and Snake...read book to find out more
Yes that was a wonderful book.. I believe a young lady named Ng Mui also invented another style at some point as well.. perhaps it was a dragon style?
As the mother of a Chinese girl, this is one of my all time favorites. Thanks so much for putting it together! Michelle is SOO kick-butt. I guess men are the same all over the world.
Just because she's Asian, doesn't mean you have to force it down her throat, she'll eventually be her own person. It's her choice who she wants to be.
Wing chun was created by Grandmaster Chun who watched 2 birds (Eagle and hawk) fight and named it Wing in their honour. He taught it to women in exchange for sexual favours and hence it is often referred to as a "womans" martial art.
wing chun created by girl named Ng Mei a Buddhist nun. she was inspirted by a stalk fighting off a large rodent and got inspirted to devise a new martial art. The art later took the name of her student, Yim Wing Chun...well thats the start anyway.
Wing chun was named after Yim Wing Chun after she taught the style of kung fu that she had learned from NG MUI, to her husband. He then began to teach it as Wing Chun('s) Kung Fu.
Someone said there is practically no wing chun in this movie. I beg to differ. I did see it. manly in the "hands" because she did perform some flashy kicks and she did some wushu there as well. They have to make it flashy though, it's a movie. If the movie was Raw Wing Chun, then I highly doubt many people would watch it cuz wing chun isn't flashy. It looks awesome to me but most people want to see flying kicks and twirling swords.
You must not watch too many period kung fu films. I don't think there is one without wire-work of some sort and the martial art isn't necessarily accurate to the character's background. Even the fight with with the Japanese guy at the end of Jet Li's Fearless was incorrect...his style was definitely Chinese. Even I can see that and I'm not trained in sword play. It happens.
The only way you could make Michelle any hotter, would be to give her some night vision goggles and a couple of silenced pistols... mmm... I think it might be time for a private viewing in the bathroom, bbl.
Yim Wing Chun is the name of the woman who created the martial art of Wing Chun. The movie is a fictionalization of the creation of the art by the woman.
Classic! God I love Michelle Yeoh...
Thanks and great work!
