Wow I have loved Volvos all my life and the s70 and 1996 960 are my favorites I personally own a 960 and it was absolutely the best first car I could have ever had it had an automatic 4 speed with the awesome inline6 24 valve engine rear wheel drive it was awesome I grew up with these cars and even worked at Volvo dealer ships I'm 17 now and when I try to tell my friends about the Volvo being and making the best cars on the road, alongside with power and safety but they just laugh but that's ok
@Mr0322 It depends on the mileage and of course history. Check the CARFAX. The S70 is an excellent first car. But in terms of how good a deal you're getting, that depends on other things.
its hard to tell from the video but is this charcoal grey? My friend had one of these with low miles, black interior, AND 5 speed manual. a VERY rare combo. Too bad it got totalled...such a shame. He convinced me to get a T5 and its the best thing i've ever bought. Incredible "bang for your buck" i tell ya. They're fast, well equiped, comfy, and built/designed well all around. I got a black T5 w/ black interior, still pretty rare.
99 owner right here, craaazy how alike our cars look, mine's about the same color too! Only thing I don't have is that awesome back fin, but gotta love our sun roof! (fist pump!) lol. I luv mi S70! Pretty stylish, reliable through anything, and safer than anything for it's time! : D! I always honk at fellow s70 owners as they pass by, or if I see them, they honk back, it's a code of how we ride stylish, and safe.... during a time when cars were still reliable, from Germany! : D!
Also an S70 owner here. Wonderful car. Very few issues, other than minor things here and there.
A heads up to Volvo S70 owners in the U.S.: One of the rear fog lights is blocked off (an issue with DOT in the U.S.). I unblocked mine by simply drilling the blocker out (it's just plastic!). The bulb socket is ready to go, just make sure you buy the correct bulb.
I have an S70 and a V70 GLT Turbo in my stable of cars. Where else can you get European styling, sportiness, full leather interior, power roof, smooth ride, reliability and safety for under $5000? And, if you know what you are doing, these things can be one of the cheapest cars on earth to maintain. I am now looking for my third Volvo. I would like to add a nice S80 to the collection.
I have one exactly like that, only white. They are frikkin' awesome cars, aren't they? I love my car. And my daughter would be drooling if she was here right now, because you car is her favorite color.
how do you pop the hood on these cars? I just bought this same year car yesterday and haven't really had a chance to look in the manual yet. I don't see a hood release in the car or in the front..........
@txcallahan because these are awesome cars, seriously. Maybe you have to own one to get it, but mine is the best car I have ever had in every way.
Okay, maybe someone younger might not feel that way about a twelve year old car, but when you get to your thirties, most likely, you will think a very well built, comfortable, and wonderfully designed car is better than a brand new, problem plagued little sports car, too.
@fuhqtoo Hey, I bought my Volvo 850 (previous S70 Gen) a week after my 20th birthday, coming up on a year of ownership and I love this car. It's safe, sporty, and practical. I bought it because I have always loved the square look, it's been the best car I have ever owned and can't wait when I can afford to buy a Volvo Station wagon. It's a 14 year old car but to me it still feels new.
@NorkiddExo yeah, but I can deal with the door skin problem as long as the car is reliable and the AC keeps freezing me out. :0) The door thing is really a minor thing compared to the problems some cars have. However, if anyone has found a remedy for it, I'd love to hear it.
someone is trying to sell me a 98 s70 but sometimes the Winter light start blinking without touching that and sometimes it loses a litlle bit of power nothing much but i really like that car n i wanna know how bad is that? do i have to spend too much money if i get it? thanks
I wouldn't concern yourself with it, especially if you don't have extreme winter weather. The S70 is somewhat known for circuit and panel shorts, making lights and warnings come up randomly, when there is absolutely nothing wrong.
actually i live in NJ the winter is really bad sometimes n a may need that function, but i'm pretty sure that is not an electric because it loses power, nothing crazy but i just got the car anyway n i think it is great. it hasn't happen anymore, but i dont wanna wait until it gets worst....ps im surprise that u could understand what i wrote cause my english is really bad hahahaha
I have a '98 S70 too. I just bought another one a few days ago. It's the same exact car except its a 5 speed. The car is mint! Plus too, 5 speed Volvos are rare in general.
ok the s70 didnt come out to the public until '98. i think everyone knows what i meant. and btw try owning one before you chime in on this one... but good job with ur google search
My brother has the same car, the same color and year and everything! We love the car, the ONLY problem with it is that the door panel leather is falling off. But it's comfortable, stylish, and it goes thanks to it's awesome t-5!
im looking at one with 203K miles owner says it runs like new hes asking 1500 obo what you guys think? looks really good on the outside its white

does the sunroof tilt up or only slide back?
rodneyking114 2 years ago
i think it slides. Which is better because the tilt ones i think give more noise.
TechForThought 2 years ago
it does both, i own an S70
