they were trying to find a way to help rade. like a pill so they made the chimps REALLY angry and stuff (hence the riot vids and things)

I think it's an interesting concept- a virus engineered by man to spread quietly amongst the population to eliminate rage, and it ends up overrunning and destroying man with what it was meant to eleminate.
