  • i think the sign for stupid is perfect for obama

  • @DeadGirlsPass LOL...don't think he's stupid now that he allows gay partners to participate in the decision of their loved ones in hospital. That is a brave thing for a President to do. Maybe other situations, you can call him stupid, but for this one alone, I call him "brave".

  • How's that hopey, changey stuff working out for you? SP

  • I'm hearing as well but ASL has been with me all my life. I really like your third choice. I'm not particularly fond of Obama and the third one just seems the most neutral while still conveying who he is and his importance. Great options, though. :)

  • the first two are really cool, i like!

  • The sign name associated with his logo (O hs to b hs for the flag) has caught on in Seattle. Before watching this vlog it was the only one I'd seen.

  • Why do we HAVE to make up the sign?? Fingerspell O-B-A-M-A isnt hard....

  • because in the deaf community we don't fingerspell our names, we create unique sign names for each individual.

  • That's not fair, I've met Deaf who's sign name is spelled. OBAMA is individual. What was Bush Sign Name?

  • Hi! I am hearing so I'm hoping it's okay that I weigh in on this. I volunteered for the Obama campaign for the last two years, so I am interested in what his name sign will be.

What about the sign for "change" with "O"-hands instead of "a"- or "x"-hands ???

  • i am hearing as well, so i hope it is ok if i present my opinion as well: i agree with JonnaTeach on that because using an "O" classifier to sign the word "change" represents him and the change he hopes to bring to America. I like it :]

  • Yea... I need to become fluent. Im sick of this damn course

  • I'm from norway and I'm not deaf. I don't speak Signlanguage of any kind, but I have this odd gift of just picking things up.

    You had three choices right?

    I liked the first one.

Was the second one "O change"?

    Thanks. ^_^

  • if you are hearing that is fine to finger spell, but if you are deaf then you would want to introduce yourself as your signed name. That is what we are.

P.S. I have a sign that I made it was simlar to what mkrajnak signed the last one. Like President sign OB signed like President. or use with one hand.

    thanks for sharing.

  • I honestly do not like any of these signs. They all feel contrived and "trying too hard" does this make sense? In NY I have seen spelled or a generic 'O' with a little shake, like "Seattle". thanks for putting it out there though, good to find a sign name!

  • i agree, but i wanna make

    that shaking O like

    the yes we can nod,

    since it's that positivism

    that's so catching,

even if a lot of things are still the same

    (re. questioning the change sign).

    comments on another vlog

also suggest the O becoming a rainbow,

but that also feels a bit heavy ideologically.

  • The deaf people of mainstream schools would pick the second and third choices; The Deaf people of Deaf schools would definitely pick the first choice, I believe. ;-).

  • I don't like any of those! What's wrong with the spelling.. it's short O-ba-ma

  • Yeah I know what you mean Cookie, I'm just pointing out that there are several sign names being created while Obama was becoming our 44th president... right now I fingerspell his name. :)

  • best first... OB !! good sign, thks

  • i like first sign ob

  • I like the first one best and maybe he could advance to the second one once he puts some change in effect...

  • Many presidents make promises. Some do not come true. Obama's name with the "change" should not be used until change actually happens. I like the one you created. Sign for president ending in O. Thanks.

  • Err, I think Obama's short enough to be spelt out.

Plus, for the world's awareness, best to just spell.

  • I like the first one because it felt more natural.. Adding fingerspelled letters with "president" sign seems like a little, SEE-ish, or "Hello Body Odor!!" But that's just me. ;)

  • LOL!! I see your point, I have decided to fingerspell his name "O-B-A-M-A" until further notice. :)

  • i like number 3 that u sign it is easy to id who u refer to

  • I love your 1st sign for Obama, because it is simple comfortable.

I am not from USA but Congratualion to Obama next president 44th. I hope that Obama will make to choice right for American.

  • Yeah Obama won but be very afraid because next year he will get tested from terrorists. They might use a nuke suitcase planted in nyc to blow up or use a bio germ warfare. It was on the news. So that is why I voted for John for a stronger national security.

  • Wow you're thinking negative! LOL, just kidding... I understand what you mean... It all depends on who he picks for the cabinet members, if they all are strong members we will be fine. I believe he will make USA more stronger and safer...tha'ts my opinion...

  • I hope that he will make a good choice for the future.

  • ya!!! we need good sign for him i liek and love 2one O with change sign WOWOW YA FORM OREOGN SALEM AREA

  • I love your 3rd one! I'm at Gallaudet and have only seen the first one on Campus! Thanks for the vlog!

  • You know Bush wasn't really all that stupid for a Republican.

  • Well, that's your opinion johnny... and I'm going to leave that.
