  • awesome song. I agree with the lyrics.

  • fred durst sent me here

  • When it began, for those who don't know

it didn't matter how you looked or what you wore to a show

dress codes, FUCK NO! we didn't care! <3 yup

  • I used to think like a pussy before watch this video, thanks H2O, you guys opened my mind ;D

  • hah i was almost gonna click thumbs up to my own comment. this song is so sick

  • The ramones wore drain pipe jeans....

  • This video is ironic when you listen to the lyrics.

  • H2O GO!!!

  • I like the message but the song sucks

  • @Luke988 Νo,the song is awesome!!You are just gay!!

  • Does anyone have intro lyrics spoke by Michael Rappaport?

  • @sbgreg All i saw was pics of one of the best nyhc bands warzone on google

  • @daj19972 okay!:)you're on the way!now take A.F.'s 'For My Family' video!Do you know how far they are in Hardcore and in Lower East Side Crew?now watch where you can find a word or a picture of Warzone or Raybeez!I tell you: NOT even one!!That is the ill of the glorious NYHC and 'that happened'.Probably it's though and unbeatable but Raybeez wouldn't do this!We met him only one time and as he saw our crew tattoo proudly he showed his L.E.S.C. tattoo and he said to make picture of them!

  • @daj19972 ...so...?do you see??They ask "what happened...??" but Toby is in the A.F. video and I don't think nobody told the video makers not to forget Raybeez if they took picture of Bruisers member for example to that video. and Roger sings very toughly: "...never forget the Lower East Side Crew...!" A.F. and Warzone were so close back in the years '80's. :) Greg.

  • i love this song

but about the intro...even tho english is my second language, i believe its 3 letters H2O..and not 3 words =P

  • @Tomsedated 2 is not a letter

  • @Tomsedated hydrogen, hydrogen, oxigen.

  • no words!!!! fantastic song

  • Comment removed

  • it's ironic that these guys are dressed to look the same as all the people they're singing about

  • @sulkoma it's funny cause your a troll right? good job passion over fashion faggot

  • @sulkoma thats the message, but you arent smart enough to get, Its not about how we dress... not about the brand on our shirts....

  • Michael Rappaport -> Good One!

  • piss off emo cunts.

  • ok i like to wear tight jeans but i´ve weared them before all of these "skater" guys wear them...i´m very skinny and i look like a potatoe sack with other pants XD

  • alkaline trio is fucking awesome.

  • @kalebyay this is alkaline r u trollin

  • @Notagayusername10 the singer is in this song

  • Skiba's the shizz!!!!

  • so good & im sad to say ... but also so true :/

  • So H20.. what happened..? you ran from Hardcore when it died and went pop punk, then you came back complaining

25 ta life down to the core real hardcore

  • @MatthewGen1 Hardcore Died? When? I must have missed that....

  • @MatthewGen1 Euh, you are still very young, so it's not your fault if you don't know. But hardcore is an abbreviation of hardcore punk. And to my humble opinion (and that's more than 2 decades of being a hardcore/punkrock kid) H20 was, is and will always be a hardcore band...

  • @alexflatcat I don't know? hey oldie, they changed they're style because they wanted a crowd that wasn't there anymore, while other bands kept releasing there own DIY shit in the dark and got slept on, but when H20 found it convenient they back back with this rubbish, just whinging about what THEY left behind,

The biggest joke is..I saw them about 3 years ago when they released this or whatever and they where singing along to a bunch of hipsters, nobody else..

  • @MatthewGen1

Actually, H2O were always more of a poppier punk sounding hardcore band from the get-go. However, So was Gorilla Biscuits, 7 Seconds, etc, who were huge influences on them (especially Toby). They wrote and played what THEY liked and it was always hardcore by definition of spirit. MCA records overproduced GO! and packaged H2O on tours with pop-rock bands but never really supported the band. They came back with an album that was done how THEY wanted it done, as this song reflects.

  • I finally have something to answer this question(what happened?): i think that the reason why nowadays young people isn't idealistic and feel no passion about anything is that capitalism make the parents of that kids so worried about money, they don't care about living with some kind of passion they just live their lifes with the money motivation.

  • @MrThisaintnomecca thats total crap

  • 1:23 descendents record :D

  • This song , Is so true.

  • this song...makes me smile

  • muh-skereh?

  • lÒl_AÑýÓnë_wÂnÑä_chÂt_wÎth_mè_i_fÉÊl_sø_lÓÑElý_tÕÐày..

  • Is that Generation Records' bottom floor?

  • The songs lyrics kick ass and that's why i respect the song but the third dude that sings( i don't know who he is so i can't judge him because I'm new to hardcore) looks like a damn fag and the song is really shitty in that part

  • @TezinaBenzina why does it matter how he looks. This song is about that its not importent how you look its about the music. Passion before passion

  • @dreadjeluc Isn't it passion before fashion but nevermind that its just they are singing against people wearing anything special and he has dressed kinda you know posy it doesn't matter and surely i won't judge him because of that but you know

  • @TezinaBenzina I don't think its about not wearing anything special, I think its more about not going out of the way to dress like everyone else and just wearing what ever the fuck you want because it doesn't matter

  • @TezinaBenzina haha he's a pop punk singer from Alkaline Trio..but I like them a lot though

  • @TezinaBenzina sure you got the lyrics of the song right? it's not important how you look like. we all share the same passion for good music, and personally i dont care at all about the look of anyone at a show. just sing along, dance and have fun.

  • This would have been such a great song on the recording if Matt Skiba didn't sing that part. I'm sure someone will scorn for me for saying it, but I saw H2O play last Thursday and when they played it Rusty sang the Skiba part and it sounded way more authentic.

  • @xalstarx lol I agree with you

  • anyone know what record shop that is? looks frickin epic.

  • What happend to the long and funny outro to this song?

  • and it makes me so mad, that i should have to ask... am i safe? wait! i screwed that up again???

  • i think Skiba's wearing drainpipe jeans, not sure about the mascara thou :D

  • THIS VIDEO MADE ME A MAN

  • Fuck yeah

  • H20 is one of those bands that looks at life realistically, and they know how to get their message across by their words. They're easily one of my fav bands

  • i really fucking love H20. never really listened to them but this is a solid ass tune

  • Straight up. (:

  • this song hits the nail on the head. WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED????? i believe that Myspace was the downfall, i see bands saying "hey check out our music ADD US ADD US ADD US, it would mean the world if you ADD us, CHECK OUT OUR MYSPACE" bands need to get off there ass and step away from the computer and get there ass on the road if you want people to listen.

  • Three words? More like 2 letters and a number ! :D

  • JORGE QUIERE SER HARDCORE Y SU MAMA NO LO DEJA

  • cool to see matt skiba do something different like this bad ass fucking song.

  • @lushtification matt is one cool guy!

  • @everybody making a comment 2 me.

that was not me that was my big brother messing around here.

  • goddamn this song kicks ass

  • Asian marriage **busizz4me.info**

  • This video has the greatest messege i've ever heard, i'm also in a punk band that is giving the same messege. Right on man keep it up

  • There is this kid who wears his leather jacket in the summer in my town. he also likes whoring himself out for tourists to take pictures with him for a dollar. who is exactly what this song is talking about. Its just a fashion to him. He likes all the right crust and punk bands but there is nothing else in his mind besides putting his mohawk up before he goes out and making sure he looks the part. so dumb.

  • MATT SKIBA!

  • @glamgirl6671 what is a "glamgirl" doing here anyway? ^^

  • @glamgirl6671 then stop spending 458396498455 hours on things you don't know.

  • great song, stay true!

  • Do real men wear drain pipe jeans and mascara?

  • @xapathydollx i think not!!!

  • @patrickai agreed (:

  • 0:28 joey ramone ^^

  • i love this song!<3

  • HARRRKAWWWW LEEEEEVVVS

  • Michael Rapaport's film career is a joke. It's well known that the jews help each other out with jobs, but giving such a talentless idiot so many decent sized roles is just ridiculous. Ok so he's one of you, give him a cushy job back-stage! Putting this useless actor in front of the camera makes Heydrich right! You're only hurting yourselves!

  • that dude in the beginning looks way familiar who is that

  • @xBillyTheKidx Don Self, from Prison Break

  • I don't get it, it was always about categorisering yourself by the way you look in order to fit in somewhere. No negative connotations there, just the way in which weird kids got a way to belong somewhere In hardcore as well as in the sub-genres. Look at the real old-skool guys; camoshorts, pretentious t-shirt and generic tattoos. Come on man! This is the kettle calling the pot black.

  • for all the dumb asses that dont understand the song! the message its saying is that hardcore is fucken gay now thanks to the shitty metalcore, post hardcore, and most deathcore.thats it talks about how kids go dressed to a show now a days because they think bands like bmth, tdwp, and asking alexandria are hardcore so they wunna look like those fags.

  • @meds1avenger120 can't believe you know enough about these bands to have been able to pull them out and namedrop them like that.

but i agree with your point anyway haha.

  • Why Is Everybody Look The Same?

  • @Vivinfg why is you typing like a dumbass?

  • @BetweenShips Wow! forgive me if i don't speak english on the right way... ¬¬

  • Wow none of you get it. The shit kids pay money to wear now is the shit kids wore in the scene years ago because they where poor. Fuck the kids in their vinyl leather and their fake cut ups.

Besides you're taking the fashion thing to literally. It's about why people used to scream. All those kids from broken homes, living on the streets, they had a release in hardcore. Now it's a bunch of yuppies playing in dime a dozen hardcore acts trying to look street as a fashion statement.

  • @Swemba Fashion before passion, very simple message. Why is everyone making some huge philosophy out of it? LOL People now days care too much about their appearances and not staying true to themselves because they wanna impress someone. A lot of fakes now days.

  • if you suck up the fact that punk music and punk musicians create constant contradictions amongst each other, and just enjoy the music without taking it too seriously, it makes the entire experience much more pleasurable.

  • this is pretty annoying and preachy.

I'm pretty sure these guys probably dress to look good.

because they don't wear skinny jeans that makes them better?

I love hardcore, I dress how I want. there are plenty of fantastic and passionate bands out there who dress how they want and love it.

quit your bitchin' and judgin' H2O.

  • crazy good

  • youth crew?? just for be melodic aint this is youth crew

  • the dopeness of this song cant be measured

  • matt skiba...? isn't that dude all about the mascara and shit? i think i missed the point of the intro part.

  • dude.. you guys just don't understand the song

  • @SamuelHellDay Well where do they get the idea that the way of dressing has become more important? The only thing that's changed is that now some people dress differently (emo). How does that mean clothing is more important then music?

Besides, you might not have noticed the guy in the beginning of the video. He's just shitting about how emo's dress differently then other hxc people. That kinda what I call hypocrisy, considering the purported message of the song.

  • This is fucking hilarious. These stupid douchebags complain about how hardcore has a dress code & shit these days, while they look like the exact stereotype of hardcore guys (':

Fuck this shit. I'd agree with what they're saying, too bad they're hypocrites.

  • @DaveGrean i noticed the same thing

  • H2o say: "I'm not here to criticize

but the reason I scream, is a feeling inside... now the biggest part is all about the image and not the art" They don't mind the fashion, they never said that. The problem is that people pay more attention to what brand of clothes they "have" to wear than to what brought us all together in the first place THE PASSION !

  • wiggers

  • @xxxR37Axxx how do you get "wiggers" out of that?

  • @xxxR37Axxx poser

  • el de at caga toa la cancion

  • I lament the change in the scene, but I also think it's ridiculous to pretend there wasn't an "image" or dress code for hardcore before it got pretty. Just look at the guys in H2O, with their basic hardcore dress code, their hardcore tattoos, their hardcore haircuts, etc.

  • great song

  • passion before fashion if you ask me

  • @LAHC4Life thats what they meant dummy

  • speaksss nothinggg but the fuckinnn truthh!!!

  • wow this is true

  • i will go to the show of H2o on saturday 07/31 , Curitiba / Brasil !!!

  • respect for H2O

  • What a fucking good song!

    and its all true =(

  • best song ever!

  • i'm mad that people are all fighting about what clothes are cool and are missing the total point of this song

  • i'm seeing them tonight !!! wiiiii NYHC !!!!!

  • @7Spronge Paris? hehe i was there too

  • hey look its don self

  • the thing here is not about clothes you fuck tards, ur wrong if you think wearing skinny jeans is being emo, or skating is being pooser, ur even more pooser if you think CLOTHES MAKE the person man, definatly u dont get this song

  • @nanycoy

agree, you wear the clothes you like. I skate because i like the feeling of riding & flipping.

Damn people who always want to categorize people.

  • where is the record store there in?

  • @rapipi

    ny :p

  • This song is filled with truth.. It's sad where art is heading!

  • i swear they sound like alkaline trio towards the end of the video. great song tho, very true lyrics.

  • @barret2378 it is matt skibba from alk3 XD

  • @mriorgute i knew it. i just found this band lmao. man i love both bands.

  • @barret2378 lol, it's because alkaline trio's singer sings that part

  • I got three words for you. H 2 O. GO!

  • Lost (1, 2, 3, 4) lifetime ago it seems

You gave up on your wildest dreams

But I refuse to let mine go

I took an oath, you can find me here

With an open heart and ears

    Refusing to surrender

    I can't believe they don't remember

What it feels like to be young.

    who sings that part?

  • @welcometheplagueyear Matt Skiba, singer of Alkaline Trio.

  • Comment removed

  • I kNow what happend.

  • matt skiba's part in this song makes my day every time i hear it.

  • fuck those 27 people who dislikes this video.

  • fuck the 28 !

  • @Lasti6 those 36 people must be new-school hanger-ons who dont' get it.

  • Last I remember I've been out of style since 1988, so according to this video I'm 8)

  • This video makes me feel old, because I probably am.Why does everybody looks the same?

  • hahah cool song but is look like offspring...

  • @BlaNgustaDuDe dude thats a huge insult

    PASSION before FASHION!

  • this is the shit right here. H20 fucking rule!

  • good song

  • I hope they will come to malaysia.

  • awesome!! H2O in chile !!! i love them , love toby morse ! (L) is awesome is a god !! xD

  • Amazing!!!! H20 in Sao Paulo-Brazil 2010!!!!!

  • this song is saying not to care what people wear if theyre into hardcore. thats all that matters is that youre into it. think back to the judge and snapcase and even the harvest era. it didnt matter. people wore whatever and nobody said shit. everyone was there because they loved the music and the music gave them something they couldnt find anywhere else, a home and a brotherhood.

  • I think a lot of people get offended by this video & song because they feel directly targeted by it.

  • MATT FUCKING SKIBA. my hero !

  • I love this video and song. H2O is just saying what alot of older hardcore/punk guys and girls are thinking.

  • Hey assmoshit, you obviously don't get it at all, it's not about wearing skinny or baggy jeans, read between the lines! Try to go to one of their shows and try to talk to Toby before talking shit on youtube, he's more sincere than most of all the haters on youtube that are too dumb to actually read and UNDERSTAND lyrics! Why did he sell out? Because he tries to get a little money to put food on the table for his kid?

  • fucking true right here !!!! "WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED"

  • i have to question please answer:

    first:

the guy who start talking is the one that acts as a phoebes boyfriend on firends?

    and the second one :

who's the guy that sings the " lifetime ago it seems you gave up on your wildest dreams..." its matt skibba ?

    thanks , great song .

  • Yeah, It's Matt

  • @ortis12 really ? o.o thanks, i was sure :D

  • @punxsongsrules Louis C.K. and then Matt Skiba

  • Don't get me wrong i love this band but i don't get at all the 'everybody looks the same' when almost all the guys in the video have tattoos, gangsta hats and big tshirts...

c'mon in every scene people looks the same

  • @prdave13 wanted to say the same. Exactly. They act like they are individuals but all the bands look the same, some of my friends look the same. Its ridiculous. Let people be who they want. If they hate people who wear skinny jeans they already limit individualism. Becouse they say clearly that they dont want skinny jeans in hardcore scene. So you already limit the options what you can wear. Its contradictory.

  • @prdave13 Exactly! Wanted to say the same. Its contradictory what they say and do. Those guys who say something and dont do it ar the worst! And of course liars. So my conclusion is they are passionate liars! IN LIE IS THE PASSION!

  • "Why does everyone look the same?" This from 5 white guys with tats and wearing black shirts and jeans with their hair dyed black? Singing to a room full of the same?

Geez, I know what happened to punk rock. It's fucking DEAD!

  • @Chrisyade Absolutely! Its contradictory what they say and do. THEY ARE JUST IN FOR THE MONEY. Music is just showbusines!! PUNKROCK: SOLD OUT.

  • H2O GO !

    best song ..

  • The question is: what the fuck happened to tha passion in this song? :/ To say nothing of talent :)

  • @VinciLit It's not about talent, it's about passion. And there is more then enough passion in this song.

  • @Sh4dowwarrior and twice as much lies. You got owned and betrayed by H2O. They talk about individualism and wear all the same clothes like other bands. And even worse they limit the individualismn of the scene becouse they dont want people wearing skinny jeans. But gangster guys. Thats contradictory and hilarious. They just use this nowadays current topic as a instrument to persuade emo haters to listen to their music. THEY ARE JUST IN FOR THE MONEY: Face it.

  • You don't get betrayed by H2O, just because they got bad lyrics. I agree with you about the contradictions in the lyrics, but I agree with H2O that the scene is not same as in 90's. That is one of the reasons i like this song. It's not well writen but it got heart. I have just seen H20 in Denmark. The entrance was cheap and ther room was only half full people. So face it there is no money in punk rock.

  • @Hjertekaare That is the point... We're not doing it for the money... we're doing it because we like it !

  • the skinny jeans thing doesn't matter whats matter is why you wear skinny jeans for fashion or because you like it

  • @jubalubaepd I wear it because it feels more comfortable and not like a potato sack. I hate this big jeans. I always wore tight ones even in kindergarden.

  • Great voice! Freddy Mercury ousted!

  • Why the HELL are you people fighting over tight JEANS?Song is about the state of mind not what you wear... wear a skirt if you want to, it is your choice. The moral of the song is people stopped caring so much about music and more about image... MTV is to blame.
