@ericjaames its all personal preference. Some like the feeling of no baton and showing it with your hands. I personally think using the baton is half t5he fun!
So is he conducting in a room with lots of fog? Where is this balanced baton? Where can I find it? Is there a baton that makes you a better musician? If it is all personal preference why the hell does this video exist?
Who IS this guy, and why does he think he's QUALIFIED?
Why didn't he mention that you need a baton in the key of A for orchestras, and a different baton in the key of B-flat for a band? What about the special batons needed to conduct in 5/8 or 7/8??
Also, I'm very disappointed that he didn't mention the difference between Adagio tempo batons and Allegro tempo batons!
for this conductor i suggest batons made from carrots - brightly coloured and nice to chew on when the orchestra has laughed you off the podium for spouting such dreadful bullshit!
This is VERY informative. I always assumed that a baton is a baton, but now I'm more aware that for different situations (rehearsals v. performances) and variations in the size of the ensemble, a battery of batons should be in ANY conductor's arsenal.
Unqualifiziert in jeder Beziehung, er sollte die Stäbe zum Stricken benutzen, damit kämen wir schon einen grossen Schritt weiter

@jaksnthebocks & wilhelmfurtwangler
You forgot about the ones that come with a special sensor that changes the colour of the baton when you start to conduct a transposing instrument.
