  • @dempsey088 I used to cry everytime I heard the pipes! And I'm English! Some English people are of Brithonic desent, not Anglo-Saxon! My 2 boys joined a pipe band in Arklow Ireland, and now one masters the drums and the other the pipes! My proudest moment was watching them marching with the band on Arklow main street. Up the celts!

  • great! alba gu brath!

  • if ever the sound of breath upon a thousand reeds filled my heart with swelling pride, this would be the day I longed for just before yuletide

  • I would've killed to be in that crowd

  • imagine yourself selling all those instruments...

  • i am scared of one scot soldier marching down with a claymore sword...but imagine 10 000 bag pipers with claymores marching down...

  • the noise of bagpipes kills cancer cells!? we've found a cure! (just kidding my grandpa is originally from scotland so we all love the pipes)

  • if there is longer video of it can you post it?

  • that is what makes you march slowly in a gentle pace without hesitation straight into the enemys musket fire

  • at 1:40 , ye see the true pipers marchin TRUE! wha hae!

  • that would be AMAZING to be in or even close to when they all start playing wow wicked

  • Playin' outlawed tunes on outlawed pipes !

    got to love it !!!!!!

  • @hunter69denys Actually, they aren't outlawed tunes, and the pipes were never outlawed. Good though.

  • That's just so EPIC

  • I have seen around ~ 10 000 bikers in my life, and would like now to see 10 000 pipers...Where is that festival and when? WANNA GO THERE!!!

  • Lovely and great!!!

  • wow .. i wish i could experience something like that

i go to edinburgh every year, but i couldn't have imagined 10,000 pipers walking down those streets

  • God i would have loved to see that!

I'm not Scottish but something about the Bagpipes makes my hair stand on end.

  • anyone know what the first tune is?

  • Return of The Stone by Gavin Stoddard.

  • Cheers for that

  • glad to help mate.

  • omg that was awesome!!! Being from Nova Scotia i am very used to hearing and seeing the pipes being played.. hard to believe at one point the pipes were actually banned. theya re soo heartfelt sounding it brings tears to my eyes

  • wow,,,wow,,what can i say,,,love to hear and see it,,mind bvlowindly awesome

  • i'd love to see them keep the pace with the military pipers lol they pass out

  • @Daniellimb i would love to see a millitary pipe band perform aswell as some of the civilian ones do lol but your right most civvy bands dont keep the millitary pace .. and the gurkhas haha wow

  • does anyone know what the tune is at 1 minute 29seconds????

  • @glasswizzard It is called the Edinburgh Military Tattoo

  • amazing!

i always have to think about the 19th century and great battles like waterloo when i see these uniforms! too bad we germans don't have parade uniforms like these any more! too bad we had to break with all these great traditions!

  • Wow .. simply amazing....

  • Leading the parade that day was the Edinburgh Military Tattoo, (except for the civillian band in the right file). I was in the tattoo & the parade. I can tell you I've never been so hot in all my life. We had to perform two shows that same evening (saturday) and my uniform was still wet....but what a rush!!

  • SEXIEST VIDEO EVER. mmf.

  • Amazing :o

  • Guess they all went for a pint aferwards..ò

  • I'd need some cotton in my ears for that. 10.000 pipers, just blows your ears off.

Anyway, must be awesome to see all those pipers playing like that

  • thats about a divison of pipers.

  • First I watched a video with 500 pipers, then one with 1,000, but 10,000 in this one---McWow!

  • lol I just did the same

  • lol. me too... Amazing!

  • @wilwondersnevercease ya me too man lol

  • @wilwondersnevercease

    haha, me too!

  • @wilwondersnevercease thats what i did to!!!!!!!

  • @wilwondersnevercease I wached one with 700

  • I was there for that one in '95 and did it again in 2000 when we allegedly broke the record for the biggest pipe band ever, but can't see it in the Guiness Book of Records though. The atmosphere was fantastic in Edinburgh. My name's in the brochure for going to New York but I never went.

  • That is awesome!!!! so wish I was part of that!!!

  • wow

u can hear the footsteps even with the pipes

  • I believe that is called a bassdrum

  • officialPaze, and Ringlord3434,

Ah, yes...the drum...not actual footsteps...but did sound like them, kind of. (Imaginary public service announcement: "If those had been actual footsteps, they would have been accompanied by a warning telling the audience, 'Watch out! Giants are coming!'" ^_~)

  • i always see only man playing the pipes. Is it traditional that no woman is allowed to play the pipes or something like that?

  • Not at all.

Both my daughters play in the same band as me, the 12 year old on pipes and the 11 year old on snare.

  • Nope, that's old history from long ago. Women pipers are an important part of piping all over the world now days.

  • 10.000, amazing!

  • I love the sound of the pipes The fighting devils in skirts is a saying I remember from my youth With those pipes playing as they marched YOU knew the devils where coming So the best options where to stay and fight them or run I was told a lot of the enemy took the sensible option and missed out on a good battle The pipes stir a lot of hearts When you hear them So play on My heart is beating
  • I was there and part of the same one in 1995, what an amazing experience!!

  • "Skirl" is a word that is only used when describing pipes. And it's battle music - they use it to get boxers going during workouts. It works. Ups the adrenaline.

  • Nothing raises hairs more. Im an English man, but pipes and drums, very close to me. just watch the end of that video.

  • as a canadian I'm glad to say the same

  • As an American, I'm also glad to say the same.

  • farewell to the creeks me thinks

  • Thats my 6/8 competition march!

  • dang what tune is it that the civilians are playing...the second one heard here.

  • wow incredible...and you probably could hear them in England, Ireland, and Norway as well

  • what is the last tune that they play?

  • The 6/8 march "Wi' a Hundred Pipers".

  • really awesome:), I wish we had those guy's here in Sweden.

  • hmmm... maybe Dark island. Or maybe mist covered mountains?. Try searching the net for the album it was on. You will find it for sure.

  • I would have sold a vital organ to have been there. I can feel the pride from here, way across the pond.

  • a friend of mine was there, he said it was incredible experience at the end of the parade when all the bands formed up and played in one spot.

  • That's awesome!

  • great! and would be an experience of a life time to play there.i'd really love to march in such a big parade with our pipers uniform. maby i'll post a video when i'lll have time fore you to see. or just check Malta military tattoo 2007

  • i am proud to say i marched in that parade ,and what a feeling wow

  • Wow! Must have been a grand occasion. One hell of a pace to start proceedings. Wish I had been there.
