This film is no avatar wannabe. Its from a series of books first published somewhere between 1910 and 1920. Its written by the same guy who wrote tarzan. Awesome series, but to me this film doesnt look like it will do the books justice. No ones made a film of the books because special effect were never good enough. Oh and the jumping thing is because there is a lower gravity level on mars than earth. So I dont think avatar could inspire a story written before WW1. Do you?
@TH3R34LD3aL Just to add: How could Avatar inspire anything when it is just Disney's Pocahontas, but with blue indians on another planet. Obviously, AVATAR is inspired by this series and Pocahontas.

@kcystic It was more of a Dances With Wolves rip off than Pocahontas. It is ridiculous how similar those movies are. James Cameron is the best director when it comes to integrating special effects into a story but he can't write worth a damn.
@twintipskilz I think the comparisons are because the green aliens apparently look similar to the blue aliens in avatar, which is reasonable but it is still narrow minded and ignorant to compare them for that alone.

I hate how people compare this with avatar. It's a totally different alien film. Avatar, story wise was crap. If you don't think so. Be reminded it was a super exaggerated pocahontas. Oh! and a Hero with a persona of 'Scorpion king' having a jumping power of 'The Hulk' and the Villain that strangely looks like has been taken right from the set of 'Thor' with the exact same powers.... yup, I think that sums up this movie.
P.S:- Don't forget the speech at 1:30 looks strangely like taken from 'Braveheart' with almost same colors on Hero's face.
