cmon ppl supermoto is a kind of racing, the bikes that race supermoto are called supermotards. A typical supermoto track is about 60% asphalt and 40% dirt, the asphalt part is twisty and tecnical and the dirt part got jumps and such. This means that the supermotards has to be able to cope with both elements. If u wanna compare a supermoto to a car, compare it to a rally car. and as most of u know(i hope) most of the extreme motorsport machines are the fastest on their type of track

Harleys are hunks of crap on the track, I actually race and I know your talking crap. I have ridden Supermotos and they have very good cornering ability. They are designed for corners, look at how low they get! Harleys are designed for 'looking cool' so you should read a book on motorcycles!

I think its better power to weight ratio of the bike, and the circuit itself. Cars generally corner faster and do transitions much better than bikes. But on a tight circuit like that, the bike's narrow profile shines. And the car cannot use its sheer horsepower advantage to beat it on top end. This is a pretty awesome video and concept.

I think both machines were on race tires, so more props to the bike.

dude, 240 kp/h on a supermoto?.. my bike is 650cc 65hp and it barely goes 200 with stock sprockets and its not aerodynamic so u would need like 100 hp to reach 240, and as said supermotos are for cornering, not topspeed

@Vajitteee Horsepowers have nothing to do with topspeed, its all about the gearing/torque. You ever drove a supermotard before? It will rip your arms off cause it has so much torque, it can easily pull a very high gearing which results in 200++ kph..

Btw my yz480 raced against a 1000cc and 650cc before and i won easy!

Well how about the fact that the porsche has wayyyy more power than a 450cc motard and the car has 4 wheels which = more traction. But at the end of the day the motard won beacuse its easier to turn and has probably has around the same power to weight ratio. So to me it is fair.

With very slight modification, practically anything from 1978 forward could do anything a modern bike can, while sounding and looking better in the process.

leaning has nothing to do with it, and is totally different from a banked turn. I love bikes and do trackdays on mine, but theres no way a bike will corner harder than a race car. You can clearly feel the difference in G's in the car.

That's because you're being pushed down into the bike and not laterally as in a car. Hell, I feel more "g's" rounding a freeway onramp in my road car than I do dragging elbow at a racetrack at 3x the speed on my bike. Besides, a bike not "cornering" like a race car is mitigated on smaller/tighter tracks because it can "straighten out" the curves far easier.

your body isnt the only thing that feels the g-forces, so does your neck. on the bike you keep your head level to the horizon do yes do you feel the g-forces of your head. a bike does have the advantage on a really tight course or a slalom but would get easily spanked by a go-kart.

if you know racing you will find one second to be very much difference on such a small track, the husky beat the GT3 by far. where are many and tight turns and less straights its an advantage to have a little weight and in relation to that much power and much grip.
