Actually the ninjas used straight blade Katanas... for one reason only... think of this, a slash to someones body may not cause instant death allowing them time to scream. Where as a thrusting stab means the Ninja gets closer and can hold the mouth of their victims therefore no others alerted. and yes thay are shorter blades. more like the length of the Wakazashi
they would a lot more likely go assassinate a samurai and steal their katana - and if they forged their own they would have done it at least similarly to the katana.
straight bladed katanas are jokes made in addition to the joke that ninja could fly.
