hey my sweet anna... u still around... missed ur cooking videos after coming to London... so sweet of u... ur chettinad chicken curry tried by my mom was appreciated by almost everyone who tasted it... thank u so much...

dude good job on the whole a lot of minor flaws here and there1)no poondu (it becomes karakuzhambhu which is made by non-brahmins) .VK is a traditional brahmin dish. FYI, not saying brahmins dont eat poondu.
2) your comment about vendakai in VK is wrong. vendakai vk is a delicacy.
3) tomato?? I doubt .. tamarind should do
4) the amount of kadalai maavu u put oh man, u screwed the taste I bet,I know u use K maavu for thickening but it has got its own taste and we dont want that in vathakuzhambhu
@sharathzidane The best is the famous knowitall stew, made with the tasty fuckyoutoo beans. And remember, sharathzidane, to sprinkle in lots of shaddupyouface powder for extra flavor.
If u dont put jaggery in vethaKozhambu I bet u wont even try it next time coz it has got nothing but tamarind and chill powder. Hope I am right if not correct me.
I think there is always been a misconception b/w VethaKuzhambu and KaraKuzhambu. In orthdox brahmin families who dont use poondu or garlic will do this vetha kozhambu with ( Sundakai, Manathakkali and sukkangai) and also theu use pachai karam not the sambhar podi and a lil jaggery on the other hand who are not so orthodox(ppl like me) prefer kara kuzhambu with lots of poondu and vengayam and with sambar podi store bought like aachis, they wont add jaggery because of the shallots.
hey pal totally loved ur brinjal curry recipe..but i have to literally struggle to listen to u or understand u.. can u please speak in english, loud and there is a heavy disturbance int he backgrnd too..else also just if pos post teh recipe too
a good vetha kozhumbu... but i dont add garlic to my vetha kozhumbu..i mean thats wat i ve known so far n thats wat my mom has tot me..nways its good to have garlic... n good for health :) basically so gr8 job.. also wat i feel is wen u post more videos let it be minus the fan sound ...rest all just fine.. :)good work..
I don't mind if its not authentic, I am sure it will taste great. Hey, can you please reduce the noise level. Its really distracting. When did you learn cooking and from whom? 'Kalakkareenga!'. Really, I would like to know. Thanks.
hey!Like someone else pointed out, there is a lot of static in the video.. and from what I can see& hear, it's probably your exhaust fan. I know its hell to cook in western kitchen without it on, but for the recoRding may be you can try turning it off (open windows/doors may be?? hee hee!!)...Also can u pls post Kaara Kozhambu with loads of garlic- the thick variety that you get in chettinad restaurants?
sure, I will, later this week. Well, it's pronounced with the 'sirappu lagaram'. Tamils have so far used zha for that sound, but it's not legitimized by native speakers. So yeah, it's Kuzhambu in it pure Tamil form but kulambu when typed in English (or kolambu - the colloquial form).
Hi Subra, you're welcome. I'm glad at least one of my videos was of some help.
I agree, this is not an authentic recipe. It's just that I don't like the "authentic" vatha kulambu. I crave garlic and I add it wherever I can. But others are very much a part of vatha kulambu (quantities may vary). I have given an "authentic" recipe in the description now. Check it.

garlic is part of vatha kojambu, no doubt about that, in fact eachtraditional pooli kojumbu is done with garlic

Firstly, thank you very much for the cookery videos, especially the one on making batter for dosai.
HOWEVER, don't you think that adding ingredients like garlic, lentils, tomato, etc... makes this dish 'kaara kuzhambu' rather than 'vathal kuzhambu'?
