I don't get why people always try to say who's better. They are much to different to be compared. MJ was the King of Pop, the world's greatest entertainer, has the best selling albums of all time, and grew up from the age 11 knowing fame. Prince is a great performer and singer, live and on album, and covers almost all genres of music. Prince makes music into art, while Michael makes music videos an art form. When you look at it from that POV, you just can't compare.

They are both cool and I love dancing to both. Prince has 1999 going for him and he also has some cool songs that are unforgettable. And they could both move like there is no tomorrow. And for styling well they both have that goen on but only MJJ is the Ambasador of Light. So he is my winner hands down. Cause I am a child of the light and I would definitly want the MJ Terminator beat box man representing the light workers for real.

Overall, I prefer MJ over prince. I can recognize mostly every song MJ has done before the History double album. The only thing I can remember from Prince is purple rain and little red corvette. Yet, MJ can't really be compared to prince, I mean MJ sort of felt that after Dangerous (highly underrated) that he was musically done. MJ spent most of his time caring for his children after 1997.
mj is an extraordinary singer and dancer, probably one of the greatests of all time
but prince is so damn versatile, he can do pretty much anything. he can sing, dance, and play the guitar/piano extremely well. listen to Venus De Milo or God, there's no way that michael could have been able to write a song like that
As a fan of both I think I can finally give an ubiased opinion.
Both of them outshine eachother in different areas, Prince is a better instrumentalist, he can play 27 instruments at a proffesional level when Michael can play 5 at an amateur level, Prince was also his own producer, something Michael was not.
@joezetank That being said, Michael as a performer blows Prince out of the water, as a baby he would dance to the rhytm of the washing machine, at 5 he could perfectly immitate James Browns dancing despite never having a single lesson, he also had a stronger voice and was a much better dancer.
Both of them are/were excellent songwriters, Prince is better lyrically, Michael is better at melody

They're both incredible, unafraid to put their colour aside and break down the race barrier in music, unafraid to experiment with different music genres unlike almost every band before them who stuck with one paticular style, really, by fighting over them you're not allowing yourself to take in some of the finest music of the 20th century.

I went to college and got my masters and never once did Michael's name ever come up. I'm not downing the guy, but he and so many other pop stars don't make great music. Comparing these guys is like comparing apples to oranges. Both are entertainers and both are talented. To say that one is better than the other is a waste of time. Oh sure..Prince plays many instruments and he's a great composer, but does that make him a better artist? Of course not. Then you have Mike...he's a great songwriter and he's an awesome dancer. Both have been in motion pictures and both have won many awards. They are both equally dynamic in their respective styles. Its a draw, see?
Quincy Jones deserves some credit for the success of Off the Wall and Thriller. Prince wears makeup and embraces his feminine side, but no surgical altering of facial features, or accusations of child abuse, either. RIP MJ. Keep doing your thing, Prince.
Biased video...Prince is/was a heck of a dancer too. Straight story: People usually think of Mike as the better b/c he made popular music. He was "the king of POP". Prince is a overall musical genius...wider range of style, more rebelious. Hey now, don't go down-sizing Prince! To my perspective MJ IS the better artist (Key point: artist, not musician. They're both awesome:D) With many reasons why, but I'm too too lazy to state it :P But I'll just highlight the fact that how great his appeal was to the public. People had known him to be generous and loving, also being loyal to his fans. Pretty much these are the qualities that made Mike stand out for me and which is rare.

Prince has shared the stage and jammed with Musical ICONS like Miles Davis, Maceo Parker, Larry Graham.. You see, Musicians Know Musicians. Unlike Michael, Prince does not have the need to be the biggest name on the stage. Strip away all of the theatrics and at the end of the day, It's all about the MUSIC. I never said that Michael NEVER sang live, On his later tours he did less live singing and concentrated on dancing and production. Michael said that he hated to tour. The point is if he did more singing than dancing, Touring would not have been so bad for him, And he would have toured more often. Great performer But the world is much bigger than one man.

Michael all the way, he's just a musical genius! As for Prince, he's a nice guy but I only reconise one song. Which is Purple Rain, as for Michael, his voice is so unique. He has done more music videos then Prince. And more songs that are easy to sing along to. Michael sold more records than Prince

I don't get why people always try to say who's better. They are much to different to be compared. MJ was the King of Pop, the world's greatest entertainer, has the best selling albums of all time, and grew up from the age 11 knowing fame. Prince is a great performer and singer, live and on album, and covers almost all genres of music. Prince makes music into art, while Michael makes music videos an art form. When you look at it from that POV, you just can't compare.

Overall, I prefer MJ over prince. I can recognize mostly every song MJ has done before the History double album. The only thing I can remember from Prince is purple rain and little red corvette. Yet, MJ can't really be compared to prince, I mean MJ sort of felt that after Dangerous (highly underrated) that he was musically done. MJ spent most of his time caring for his children after 1997.

As a fan of both I think I can finally give an ubiased opinion.
Both of them outshine eachother in different areas, Prince is a better instrumentalist, he can play 27 instruments at a proffesional level when Michael can play 5 at an amateur level, Prince was also his own producer, something Michael was not.

I went to college and got my masters and never once did Michael's name ever come up. I'm not downing the guy, but he and so many other pop stars don't make great music. Hey now, don't go down-sizing Prince! To my perspective MJ IS the better artist (Key point: artist, not musician. They're both awesome:D) With many reasons why, but I'm too too lazy to state it :P But I'll just highlight the fact that how great his appeal was to the public. People had known him to be generous and loving, also being loyal to his fans. Pretty much these are the qualities that made Mike stand out for me and which is rare.

both artists are so diferent i can not compare, one singer and performer and the other musician and producer, and Michael is not the best performer in the world, Michael WAS the best performer in the world. i love Michael but he's death and i love Prince but i rather his 90's music.

the important thing for a musician is not to know playing all instruments, but it's to create GOOD music, and in this domain MJ is the best!
all the melodies of his songs are magnificent: you only have to listen to a song once,and its melody 'll stay in your head and in your heart forever! he's a brilliant composer,writer and singer who can make you feel all his emotions and this ability isvery rare!

Prince has shared the stage and jammed with Musical ICONS like Miles Davis, Maceo Parker, Larry Graham.. You see, Musicians Know Musicians. Unlike Michael, Prince does not have the need to be the biggest name on the stage. Strip away all of the theatrics and at the end of the day, It's all about the MUSIC. Michael would of had a longer touring career had he concentrated more on his music rather than dancing and props. He very seldom sang live because of the dancing

I never said that Michael NEVER sang live, On his later tours he did less live singing and concentrated on dancing and production. Michael said that he hated to tour. The point is if he did more singing than dancing, Touring would not have been so bad for him, And he would have toured more often. Great performer But the world is much bigger than one man.

@mwilliams836 Get real. Victory Tour, Triumph Tour, Bad Tour.. they were all completely live. He didn't mime as much as people like to say he did. Sure, he mimed some shows in the HIStory tour.
Prince never mimes because he never does the choreography that MJ did. Prince is more of a spontaneous mover on stage. He doesn't have to focus as much on his dancing With MJ, dancing is the main focus of the show. So get real, please.
Doesn't matter what Prince does, he'll never be on MJ's level.
