The last thing I would do is start working on a casualty in that danger zone when the emergency services are a minute away with fire extinguishers and trained medics. The way I see it, God gets the credit for the good things people do and never the credit for the bad things people do or the bad things that happen. That's a very selfish faith, and you can't have it both ways, or even one way.

And it does work both ways to a certain extant. Meaning Everything that occurs is with God's knowledge, permission and will. It is also His will that we have the choice to go against his will.

God gives the human free will to choose bad from good. However if God doesn't want you to get hurt, for example, he wont allow that person's evil choice of harming you, to come to fruition.
