  • 1.52 sooooo cute!

  • Awwww Tarah!! This is such a beautiful video, im so happy that she survived the laminitis!! shes an exceptional little pony! I'm so glad that you could share her lifes story with us!

  • Just Beautiful

  • did you know you can heal a horse of laminitus by drying out stinging nettles laying down as a bed and not giving them hay or any other food only water and they will eventualy eat the nettles and it can cure them completely! cute little pony <3

  • thank u finally someone understands shetlands people have no respect for them but u do i hate waatching vids where people r riding them and they just want them off there back but by being so short cant get them off u understand the limit of ur shetland her needs and her limits so thank u for being such a loyal equestrian

  • my horse died, nog of laminitis luckely . I hope u know have focking lucky u r the horse still lives! And I hope for u she'll keep living for a long, long time ♥

  • Pahahaa. The people that comment massive paragraphs trying to make themselves look big are actually pathetic. I think nearly everybody who watches this video knows what laminitus is so maybe, instead of trying to prove yourselves on a youtube video, you get on with your lives?

Your pony is adorableee btw :')

  • right will people stop posting comments like "ponies that small cant jump that big" so is that saying that big horses cant jump small jumps? seriously if the pony didnt want to do all these things then it would refuse not go ahead with it!!! i suggest that it is the best thing the owner can do for the little thing! her discusting previous owners never gave her the chance to do any of this . may aswell let her now she has caring owners right?

the owner of this pony i inspire you.

    ignore them.

  • leuk maar wel een paar foto's herhaald!;d

  • They will always be prone to relapses but that is NEW damage not the original damage if the original has been fully removed so yes it can be "cured" it just takes ages and requires a good farrier! That's a fairly simplistic explanation but I hope it helps clear up some of the arguments going on here!

Shilott - she's gorgeous, I had a Shetland mare who could jump way over her own height when I was little - a proper character she was too...

  • As the hoof grows out - all normal tissue properly attached, the damaged tissue from the laminitic episode will be trimmed off eventually leaving all healthy tissue behind and a hoof which is completely normal and will remain that way if the pony is well managed. In the larger/heavier horses the extent of damage in the first place is usually much much worse and the weight of the animal limits the halting of the separation and they literally fall through their feet.

  • It is possible to "cure" laminitis - it takes a very long time and is not possible in all cases. Laminitis is a separating of the sensitive tissues which attach the hoof capsule to the rest of the foot. Depending on the extent of this damage ponies can be kept comfortable and any further separation halted. The smaller/lighter the pony and the smaller the initial amount of separation the better the chance that this will be possible (shets have better results simply because they weigh less).

  • Who saved her? ;) xxx

  • @ForeverPaintHorses To people like you I have to ask - Are you a Vet? Do you have Veterinary training? I highly doubt it. So until then I will look to and seek the advice of the Vet that has helped me give Tarah back her life and happiness. I am very sorry to hear what happened to your horse, but your horse isn't Tarah so please do not apply what happened him to my little girl :).

  • @ForeverPaintHorses WTF are you yaking about. Does this pony look like it has laminitis anymore? Look how it can jump!! If she was sore she would not be doing this stuff. She looks great.

  • whay does she have a BIIT IN HER HALTER

  • How many hands is she? <3 <3 mines 6hh <3

  • wow SOOOOOOO cute!!!

  • Hah I love the pictures of her when she's fluffeh XD

  • That Pony can Jump.

  • wow that sheltland can jump high

  • is it a shet?

  • SHES SO FLUFFY!!!!

  • tarah is amazing jumper i have 2 min shetland and they have a Beautiful nature toooo =D

  • how did u heal her lamitnitis?im srry to say but its extreamly bad to be jumping a horse. especally 4f with a horse that has laminitis! one of my horses had it and he has to be put down in the spring. he was a jumper, and he still jumped when he had it. thats why hes going to be put down now. hes desroyed! your pony very talanted. but if you want to keep her, jumping is for sure a terrable thing to continue with her. slow walking is maybe the only thing.

  • @NickiRocky Thank you for your concern, however after seeking the advice of a vet I concluded that stopping Tarah from living a normal active life would in fact be detrimental to her quality of living. She enjoys what she does very much, and I am no one to stop her doing what she wants and what she believes she can do :) Tarahs health has never been better, the vet is very happy and thanks to Tarah, horse people everywhere can see what our little Shetlands are capable of.

  • @Shilott but dose she still have laminitis? i was told i cant keep my guy, working him just causes him alot of pain.

  • @NickiRocky She was 'cured' of laminitis. I would recommend you do some research on the disease :)

  • @Shilott i have. and i talked to the vet and they said the best and easyest thing is to put him down. i really want to help him, right now hes suffering and cant walk. could u try and remember the exact things you used to help her? it would be a hugeeeee help

  • Comment removed

  • @NickiRocky Awwe..I would do A LOT of research and get SEVERAL different opinions. Look into holistic treatment as well! I hate to hear that your poor guy might have to be put down! That is so very tragic.. But like I said, don't give up on him yet! I know vets that have put down dogs with broken backs saying their quality of life would not be any good, instead of telling the owners about a k-9 wheel chair! Vets don't ALWAYS have ALL the answers, I pray you find something that helps! :-)

  • @Shilott I'm glad that you consulted a vet, thats very responsible <3

  • @NickiRocky the main cure for laminitis is to keep the horse/pony moving, so the blood continues to pump up the leg from the frog.

  • @magicmomentsx good to know. cuz i was told not to let him walk. dame i dont know! i lvoe my horse. and id do anything. but i want to know for sure. if walking his will get him worse. but standing cant be good.... i just dont know! DX

  • @NickiRocky what are lamitnitis?

  • @crazyhorselover12 its..... a disease in the horses foot...

  • @NickiRocky The barn that I board at has a horse that has laminitis and he barrel races and jumps. He's actually doing much better now that they keep him moving and working, the worst thing for them is to not lead an active life.

  • @NickiRocky it's people like you who inspire me, you took in a rescue pony. i wish i could do the same, but i dont have the time to care for one, so i donate money to Bransby Home Of Rest For Horses.

I just cant get over how someone could mistreat any animal. espicially one as gifted, cute and sweet natured asTarah :)

  • @pinklollipop1000 aw thank you :) and thats a great idea. I work at a trail riding facitly and we focuse alot on saving horses and bidding voer meat buyers. we own quit a few happy standerbreds. no one reallys wants standerbreds, they seem to think the only have the apility to race. and if they cant there no better than meet. but there sure awsome trail horses :) so we do alot of standerbred resuing. mosly to work them into somthing and sell them to great homes :)

  • @NickiRocky Aww thank you. I sure agree.. and i hope so too... we still have him. Im fighting my boss to keep him but instead of paying vet bills he would sooner bring him to the back felid and shoot him. Oh the thinksi would do to him and his career would out him in the dirt..

  • @NickiRocky Laminitis is curable...

  • @NickiRocky Laminitis is curable... Maybe you need a new vet.

  • @NickiRocky

My Instructors Highland Gelding, Hamish had laminitis, and he was cured. He is jumping almost 4ft still

Maybe the reason your horse had to get put down was because you jumped him.

    Anyway, beautiful video!

  • @NickiRocky

their only jumping her because she has gotbetter. obviously. they have brought her on and she has got better and now they are training her up. thats the only reason why their jumping her. she looks like a really good owner so i dont think she would o that if she had laminitus.sorry to be mean and ia m sorry about your pony.
