I just got a Glock 17 Gen4 about a week ago and i absolutely love it. i've heard a lot of gun elitists talk shit about glocks. but you would be flat out lying to say they jam or misfire all the time. When i bought it, the guy at the store compared it to honda or toyota, futher stating, that its definetly more reliable, but far from a car enthusiast's dream car.
I never heard to many good things about glock. I got a g30 a few months ago and i love it. 500 plus rounds right out the box not one issue. I use it as my edc . Why such hate for glocks. I own a couple sigs also and love them but have had issues with one. Always a chance of issues just like anything else. Just cause you pay more fir a gun dont make it better.
@TheArkTheArkTheArk ummm, isn't a misfire where the bullet completely fails to fire at all? i mean like as in MIS fire... but what would i know ive only been shooting all my life.
Hi I hope you respond. Does the GEN1 Glock 17 have to be using specific rounds. Am using Herters and it shoots good for 14 to 20 rounds then the pin doesnt seem to full penetrate to fire the loaded round.
a clock sucks if you shoot a couple of times it will cost you money..and you will never need it..It feels good to have a gun but you will never use it for real..the only thing what can happen you take it to school and shoot some bastards..or your kid will play with it..
@vuurwerkkid thats why a lot of people play airsoft, the guns are almost the same (as in weight, size, attachments etc.) and you can shoot people with it ;D
@vuurwerkkid Judging by your grammar, I would remiss did I not ask the question, What do you know about schools ?. As it appears that you have never attended one !.
i just got a glock .357 SIG today and its the first glock i have owned (3rd handgun) and it is simply the BEST shooting and feeling handgun i have ever shot!!! great gun, huge 15 round capacity easy to use and tear down. shot 100 rounds through it today and not 1 jam misfire or problem. i know 100 rounds is not much but i can tell already this one is going in my nightstand :) only down side is the ammo compared to my 9mm is almost double!! but up side is its double the gun.
The moving barrel made me think that if you move the gun around too fast or if you do a quickdraw, the barrel might cause the accuracy to drop. Is that so? Is there a disadvantage in comparison with fixed barrels? I noticed H&K pistols have that moving barrel too, what is the purpose of that? Please inform, thx.
@1inchheadbutt it is part of the recoil operated locking mechanism. the barrel drops to disengage from the slide, allowing a fresh cartridge to be loaded into the breech.
@Stripdancer100 Technically, yes, but we're talking about accelerating a 124-165gr mass against [said weight of barrel/slide+recoil spring, significantly more], which means the bullet will be accelerating sooner and faster than the mechanics of the gun itself.
simple mechanism in this gun u jus have to modify on the upper receiver to make it automatic glock 17..sry i aint gonna tell.. this is why the animation is cut at the end.. hehe dont want ATF breaking in into my house.. lol
@SurfersGlory It moves up because when the slide comes back it pushes it to make the barrel move that way, some pistols have a slide that does that some don't the glock is one that does do that
@SurfersGlory as the barrel is pushed back, it gets unhooked from the side pad of the spring, thus leaning down making a tiny ramp so that the upcoming bullet gets placed on the barrel
I remember being told that Glocks have a block that sits in front of the firing pin, which only moves when the trigger is pulled, which is what makes them safe to carry with a round in the chamber. Is that what I'm seeing just being the round, that little silver mushroom looking thing?
1) How come automatic rifles (AK/M4/etc.) can't use a similar technique to push the slider back? (they have a separate gas pipe above the shaft to do it)
2) What is actually causing the empty shell to fly out of the gun? Is there a spring? A bump in the surface? Gas? Or just the vibration & opening?
@51equinox A similar system has been used for example in the previous generation of HK rifles G3/HK53/MP5 etc which used a form of delayed blowback to cycle the action. While it worked well enough it is more complex to maintain and most importantly, blowback weapons run very dirty and hot because the gases are kept in the action. Gas piston systems are most popular on assault rifles because they keep the filth and heat away from the moving parts. Question 2 is the extractor pulls the case.
Not enough space to explain this properly on Youtube. 1) Rifles wont really use this and retain accuracy due to their size, part of the reason why rifles like the M4 operate in the way they do is to improve accuracy (locking & rotating bolts - not using parabellum rounds (straight edged ) as the Glock shown does.. 2) there is an arm or bump if you like that actuates when the slide (top part of the pistol) moves rearward and reaches a certain point.
@Nutzelpivot it hits a ramp (best way to describe it) called a shell extractor, some call it an extractor claw. It's like rolling a bouncy ball at a slanted curb, it's gonna go straight up in the air every time.
Very cool, this animation was designed by Juho Nieminen for my Company over ten years ago. We distribute the original free of charge to Law Enforcement personnel world wide.
it does that to unlock the slide and the bolt, so that they can continue rearward, eject the cartridge case, and load a new round into the barrel. it also makes it easier for the cartridge to slide up out of the magazine and into the barrel when it's being loaded.
@DrRaper Because of three things...safety is on the trigger ( no second thought about taking it off ),theyre as cheap as shit,And they are lightweight....but sorry, known to many of them to die early deaths through various breakages and failures....I would rather stick with my old P85 that eats ammo that Glock chokes on.
@uilleann86 no it doesnt. its the basic law of momentum. the slide starts going back as the bullet starts moving forward. which means that by the time the bullet leaves the barrel, the slide was already moving.
@bscutajar Maybe you're right. the slowest video i could find of any semi-auto pistol was on here of a glock being filmed at something like 23,000 FPS. Of course the camera doesnt have the muzzle shown, but it appears the slide starts travelling rearwards just before the bullet leaves the muzzle.
@uilleann86 this is how the animation should have ben (im aware its for a different gun, but notice the simultaneous movements of the bullet and slide in opposite direction) /watch?v=E6SmlOEzNBs
@bscutajar im going to give you some time and space to think about it and clear any misunderstandings that you had with my initial post. but if you still dont agree with me, you're arguing with physics. and physics is basically logic, arguin against logic makes you illogical. this animaton is WRONG.
Nice work, but you have the slide recoiling once the bullet leaves the barrel. That's not right...blow-back starts immediately after the primer is struck and the bullet leaves the casing.
hey im a gun nut and i thought i was gona throw away my glock... i thought something was wrong with the barrel. thank you for the video. now i know im not crazy.
@Pilot853 Whenever you see a slide on a handgun, you can bet that about 80% of handguns work that same way. The 1911 operates the same way, aligning the rounds to be fed from the magazine to the barrel by having the barrel 'dip' downwards aligning with the top round perfectly for loading.
the one thing I don't like is in the animation that it does not show the connector bar pushing the firing pin block safety out of the way..that is the biggest safety on the pistol IMHO..there is not a spring stong enough combined in that pistol to drive the firing pin through that piece of metal until the trigger is fully depressed..
@murdockpt The "top" is called a "Slide" and honestly I have no idea how it works on this weapon, but it's probably short recoil-operated, considering that the majority of semi-automatic pistols are. It's a mechanical system unlike gas operation(which is what I think you mean by "blow back from the bullet") and more likenned to the operation of the m1911 Colt .45. There are great videos on youtube that can teach you about that weapon.
Question from a person who knows nothing about guns: would it be possible to load the gun by putting the bullets through the hole where casings come out of? (0:50)
@beekmann well like i say nothing is perfect but they are pretty close there where a few KBs with them but from what i hear most of them where "experimental" ammo
@PinoyPogiman The "free floating barrel" design was actually developed by John Browning in the early 1900s and is used by most modern pistols, including the High Power, SIG P226, HK USP, CZ75, Springfield XD, and S&W M&P.
hahahahahahahaha Glocks r ass period, this shits silly, a plastic recoil rod tho??? really try tha Smith and Wesson M&P, tactical slide plus for 300 u can but a laser grip which opens up tha tectical slide for whatever else, its juss funny, cus my M&P 9c would kill this Glock or any other glock, PERIOD
@TrO419to702 The plastic guide rods have proven to hold up just fine to hard use. You can even buy steel rods for Glocks for $25 if you think its a problem. Also, the by "tactical slide" I assume you mean the accessory rail? Glocks have one of those too. You can also add a laser grip to a Glock. I don't see what your point is. Glocks had all those features before S&W even dreamed up the M&P. M&Ps are great guns, but I wouldn't say they "kill" Glocks. Plus, Glocks have been around a lot longer...
@TrO419to702 I dont know. I know alot of people personally and just from reading reveiws and watching videos, most with R. lee Ermey, saying that glock is a very good pistol. I dont own one but every time ive shot with one i havent had a problem. M&P's are good too. never shot one but never heard bad about it.
@TrO419to702 Yea, ok. Who do you think S&W got their idea for a polymer pistol from? Glock maybe? The M&P is a relatively new handgun compared to the Glock. To say that it would "kill" any Glock is asinine. The plastic recoil rod is proven and works fine. It saves weight. The spring is doing all the work. I'm sure you knew that already. You seem very...ummm...educated....

There are great videos on youtube that can teach you about that weapon.

how does the top go back...? (doesnt know names)
murdockpt 10 months ago
ok so can somone explain how the blo back automtically cocks the gun?
Olliedfox 11 months ago
@Olliedfox just on usually any semi-auto gun, whether it be a shotgun, rifle, or hand gun, the powder ignited creates gasses which will cycle the gun

Question from a person who knows nothing about guns: would it be possible to load the gun by putting the bullets through the hole where casings come out of? (0:50)

woah the barrel just free floats like that? thats kinda spooky....
i still love the glock though
PinoyPogiman 1 year ago

You post like a retard.
ronnie12398 1 year ago
@TrO419to702 The plastic guide rods have proven to hold up just fine to hard use. You can even buy steel rods for Glocks for $25 if you think its a problem. Also, the by "tactical slide" I assume you mean the accessory rail? Glocks have one of those too. You can also add a laser grip to a Glock. I don't see what your point is. Glocks had all those features before S&W even dreamed up the M&P. M&Ps are great guns, but I wouldn't say they "kill" Glocks. Plus, Glocks have been around a lot longer...

@TrO419to702 my pen woud kill your stupid guns lol
djjmria 1 year ago
@TrO419to702 I dont know. I know alot of people personally and just from reading reveiws and watching videos, most with R. lee Ermey, saying that glock is a very good pistol. I dont own one but every time ive shot with one i havent had a problem. M&P's are good too. never shot one but never heard bad about it.
wedvarn 1 year ago
@TrO419to702 Yea, ok. Who do you think S&W got their idea for a polymer pistol from? Glock maybe? The M&P is a relatively new handgun compared to the Glock. To say that it would "kill" any Glock is asinine. The plastic recoil rod is proven and works fine. It saves weight. The spring is doing all the work. I'm sure you knew that already. You seem very...ummm...educated....
