The color and ornamentation that you say makes them look witch/priestess-like is what they are going for. The bright colors stand out stronger on a beckground of black. There is a sense of empowerment in the mystery of the heavy makeup and jewelery, ornamentation. The symbolism of the flower rosettes and other ornamentation. Like a middle eastern goddess. Empowerment. Confidence.
