I remembered this game looking REAL when I was a kid. I kinda wish I didn't look for this video. Ruins a lot of the memory a little. I remember cutting that lady's clothes off and feeling a little......excited! Lol!
I use to play this on the Arcade. There was a way you could stab the clothes off of one of the girls in the game. Is this on a Wii Download or anything like that??
The fighting actually makes sense, unlike so many of the unrealistic fighting games today. One hit on armor knocks it off; one hit on flesh means death. When I slice someone wearing just a thong, I expect that hit to count!
damn... this brings back alot of memories. Back then, if you wanted to play a decent game you had to go to your nearest arcade because the home systems were no comparison. heh, i remember exchanging my dollar bills for quarters and hanging out at the arcade for hours with my friends. those were the good ol' days..
Hudson Soft made a similar game titled "The Kung Fu" (known outside of Japan as "China Warrior") which was the first game for the PC Engine (known outside of Japan as the TurboGrafx-16). However, unlike Taito's Gladiator, China Warrior doesn't require you to use a shield to protect yourself. You punch, kick or dodge objects.
on the original arcade version on lvl one, when you fight the chick if you hit her just right her top would come off and she would kneel at your feet with her boobs out, was so awesome
@zythepsarian I recall a guy at the local 7-11 who could make her do that. He was one of those guys back in the day who could play whatever game came in and his name was on the machine that day.
Man...what a blast from the past. I was addicted to this game... they had this at a bowling joint called kristoff's in Round Lake Beach Ill. Spent hours and hours playing! Good POST!!!
This was one of those elusive games I played in one arcade when I was like 8. I thought I dreampt the game up until I saw it later in college through an emulator. Awesome.
Hmm doesn't seem to be many Gladiator fans. I remember playing this at the local Ground Round and being the only who could get really far... but then never saw the game again after that!

4:19: I love the protagonist's facial expression. This game was pretty demanding on Taito's artists, but they certainly had their fun.

LOL...you're playing the American version. There's two reasons why the Japanese release was better. Two VERY nice reasons why :P

@Turboboyturbinado You're hopefully sarcastic, otherwise it's quite appalling that you don't know about the most famous computer of all time.

Hey! is this game available other than buying the old arcade? I must know! LOVED THIS GAME!!
raven66crowley 3 years ago
Well, you must download an arcade emulator (like the "Mame") and find the ROM file at some download site, like the "Romnation".
I remember almost never passing through the club knight at the third stage... or dying soon after due to all my armor being destroyed by him!
