The needle scene is hard to realize out of context, eventually you learn that Keiichi had a hidden childhood trauma because of a horror movie where a character dies because of a needle in the food. Because the food he bit had sauce as a joke he was startled and his paranoid mind deluded him into thinking it was a needle.
@LeonGun8 That said, Rena did confront him in the road back home, but probably not in the way it is portrayed (and she likely had her bag rather than a hatchet, remember how her bag is conspicuously nowhere in sight?). Not much is said of what happens in that particular part of the game but one is to assume Keiichi pushed her away (and all the crazy laughter and such is his paranoia) and she runs after him and finds him collapsed. He was indeed almost killed by the guys in work clothes though.

Listen closely. Notice how most camera motions are accompanied by sound effects and EVERY SINGLE ONE is fitting and even SUBTLE when it needs too. Kenji Kawai is a genius for coming up with them all, and despite all the damage that Chiaki Kon did to the VN story here and there, SHE KNOWS SOUND. Good lord she knows sound. More horror should use that method of camera motion accompanied by sound.

K's dad does see her, he's the one who tells him she was overhearing the phonecall. The call made her more worried no doubt, having no idea what to say (because every time she's tried to explain herself he's misunderstood) so she left and went to talk to Mion to see what they could do to help him. As for the men: explained in season 2.

I swear that's the same hatchet Katsura used in School Days. Wut are the odds, eh? Wut are the odds that, years later an older, crazier Rena one day bumps into Katsura and, sensing the crazy in her, hands over her machete to use.
Keichii had the hinamizawa syndrome the entire time. So I think Rena wasn't scary. Just imagine her talking in her regular voice, about how she's confused why Keichii has been acting weird lately, and she wants to help him. And how she regrets not helping Satoshi. Then the laughs would probably be small giggles, and when she leaned in for a kiss, and Keichii pushed her. She was probably crying instead of laughing.
@Vxshifter No one will be sure, but it's something someone can assume. All the characters were hallucinating when they had the syndrome, and were paranoid. Thus they went crazy and killed. I watched the entire When they cry franchise, I would know. In an episode it said Keichii was sick, and even showed what was actually happening at the time. Rena and MIon were being normal, but Keichii just acted up. Don't ask me what episode, I forgot.
@Insane234 I know, she didn't deserve any of this. I cried during the scene where Rena was holding out her broken arms, asking for forgiveness. Then she said she forgives him, then he just killed her. It was really sad...
to be honest during the first arc I had a feeling that Keiichi was barking up the wrong tree... ((It was a gut feeling... that and he should of told her what he and Ooishi talked about... although to be honest I wouldn't of trusted Ooishi and trusted Rena and Mion ))

Keichii was hallucinating that rena was acting all creepy. Rena was only trying to reach her arms to him and help him and at this scene Rena was imitaiding keichii by carying around with a hatchet and showing how his friends felt when keichii walked around carying a bat.
@tdlo123 I don't want to spoil anything. But after you watch season 2, then you realize that Keiichi isn't the main character in the story. In the second season, you find out everything that happened in the first season to be real. He did go crazy, but EVERYONE has the syndrome that acts at a certain time. A certain character tries to use that to his/her advantage to kill everyone. Season 2 is the answer to everything in season 1.

Keichii had the hinamizawa syndrome the entire time. So I think Rena wasn't scary. Just imagine her talking in her regular voice, about how she's confused why Keichii has been acting weird lately, and she wants to help him. And how she regrets not helping Satoshi. Then the laughs would probably be small giggles, and when she leaned in for a kiss, and Keichii pushed her. She was probably crying instead of laughing.

@Vxshifter No one will be sure, but it's something someone can assume. All the characters were hallucinating when they had the syndrome, and were paranoid. Thus they went crazy and killed. I watched the entire When they cry franchise, I would know. In an episode it said Keichii was sick, and even showed what was actually happening at the time. Rena and MIon were being normal, but Keichii just acted up. Don't ask me what episode, I forgot.

@Insane234 I know, she didn't deserve any of this. I cried during the scene where Rena was holding out her broken arms, asking for forgiveness. Then she said she forgives him, then he just killed her. It was really sad...

to be honest during the first arc I had a feeling that Keiichi was barking up the wrong tree... ((It was a gut feeling... that and he should of told her what he and Ooishi talked about... although to be honest I wouldn't of trusted Ooishi and trusted Rena and Mion ))
when I saw what was really going on I was supprised and felt like giving Mion and Rena a big hug...

Keichii was hallucinating that rena was acting all creepy. Rena was only trying to reach her arms to him and help him and at this scene Rena was imitaiding keichii by carying around with a hatchet and showing how his friends felt when keichii walked around carying a bat.

@tdlo123 I don't want to spoil anything. But after you watch season 2, then you realize that Keiichi isn't the main character in the story. In the second season, you find out everything that happened in the first season to be real. He did go crazy, but EVERYONE has the syndrome that acts at a certain time. A certain character tries to use that to his/her advantage to kill everyone. Season 2 is the answer to everything in season 1.
