have driven an 1.8T a3 I can say that the only thing I didn't like is the feeling of the direction system that seems to have a void and that it's not very friendly to drive..but it's amazingly fast and effective in every drive condition.
The difference is the standard extra equipment, in general
The Ambition line includes the following equipment: 17 alloy wheels in 5 arm styling, 3 spoke leather steering wheel, door sill trims in aluminium, driver information system with white display, dynamik cloth seat upholstery, front fog lights, front passenger seat with height adjustment, inlays in micro metallic platinum, leather gear lever knob and handbrake grip, sports seats, sports suspension, sun blind for rear window.
The Ambiete line includes the following equipment: 16 alloy wheels in 7 arm styling, 4 spoke leather steering wheel, anti glare interior rear view mirror with light/rain sensor, cruise control system, driver information system with white display, front passenger seat with height adjustment, inlays in Bernstein vavona wood, interior light package, leather gear lever knob and handbrake grip, meridian cloth seat upholstery, storage package
I've got an 1.8T Sport and I love driving it, cause it handles suberbly and there's lots of power in every gear. Never driven an 2.0 TDI so I don't know the difference.....
rofl what makes it a better choice? Just about everything.
Looks, quality, interior, practicality, technology, and most importantly, performance. The A3 has the slickest dual clutch, DSG on the market and that alone would put this MILES over the Ralliart. Any lancer that is not a EVO, really is a waste of money. Its a cheap tin can, with horrible reliability. Look up JDpower for the Ralliart and regular lancer.

Depending on your country details can be different, so ask your local dealer for the exact details.

i'm looking to buy a car soon. i'm split between the A3 and Lancer Ralli Art. what makes the A3 a better choice?

I have never driven a Lancer.
But Audi is built to last, lots of power and a hell of a lot more BHP with the cheapest of mods.
My A3 handles superbly, never had any problems and doubt I ever will.
So much pull even in higher gears too.
Shame it only gets 29MPG though, but that's the petrol model.
