  • pick use is ancillary to playing bass and (being) a bass player, for that matter. theres no way around it. those who lambaste others for pick use are puerile in their own right.

  • i play bass with a pick got that habbit from the leader of this band

  • Yuck. lol use a pick for this song it sounds sooo much better and achuly keeps the beat.

  • yeah i have the mikro.

  • u missed alot of notes use a pick u can keep on beat better

  • Do you ever use a pick on bass? When you have to drone on sixteenth notes like in this song, it makes a smoother sound and it's easier to keep the beat steady.

  • Hi there,

I do sometimes, I never thought it was for the timing though, I always thought that some bands use a pick on bass for tonal purposes. How does it keep the beat steady?

  • I find the symmetrical motion of alternating (up and down) picking is easier to keep on the beat than alternating fingers when droning on one note, and it's easier to make every strike sound the same. Also, the string rings more steadily because a pick strike stops the vibration of the string more briefly than contact with a finger.

  • Ah. Okay, I get it now! Thanks a lot for your help and support, Les!

What bass songs were you thinking of me doing by the way

  • It doesnt
