Were there different releases of Jesus of Cool? There's a live version on the one I got.
I never forget how I loudly requested this song at a Nick Lowe concert, where he played with a band that also had Paul Carrack as lead-singer. Nick Lowe looked me straight in the eyes and fiercely replied: "We ain't gonna play that!" But as an encore they did as yet and he smiled at me.
My fav song by Nick Lowe. His album/CD "Pure Pop For Now People" is pure genius and sarcasm. His songs threw in melodic flavors of The Jackson Five, Paul McCartney, The Ramones and others. In my opinion, Beck (who I also like as an artist) sort of copied Nick Lowe years later by blending melodies from other artists (Grateful Dead, The Doors, etc.) as well.
Why, I can't believe that this Heart Of The City vid was posted only yesterday & only today I thought for the first time to look for it on YouTube, although it's been a favourite song since it first came out. Fantastic song, great job, thanks for posting.

Supposedly this single, with So It Goes on the other side ( the first on the Stiff label) cost just 50 quid to make. What value!

This was one of the few good things in "Up The Academy"...gotta be one of the worst movies ever...but Nick was in it...that made it better...

@papamac630 I remeber it as the ONLY thing good in that movie. It actually turned me on to Nick Lowe. The rest of the movie.... I've forgotten.
