Why don't we support canadian jobs by building high-tech electric trains built by bombardier instead sticking with the status quo of using polluting and inefficient diesel guzzling trains!
You've got to be kidding...Union Station isn't the top priority on my list Rob, How about the 500 trains you want to shove down my throat? Think that might be my #1 concern? Give your head a shake and wake up.;
ELECTRIFY the Georgetown line NOW not in 15 years, because you know that won't happen in 15 years unless diesel cost way more than hydro.
Number one concern - Electrify now. GO ELECTRIC - listen to Rob Joy's song and learn something about public consultation.
I don't think the better quality of life suggested will include the health of literally thousands of Toronto school children whose schools, classrooms and playing fields are along the rail corridor's perimeter. They'll be breathing a very very bad cocktail of increased diesel particulate and other pollutants. A big rethink is in order.
Umm... running 300-500 diesel trains through the west end of Toronto...bad idea...want to really create jobs? Build, research and design non polluting electric trains, and then build the infrastructure- just like the US. Obama is electrifying the US train system for this very reason- he is not using diesel trains because he knows diesel pollutes, and the rest of the world uses electric trains. How very stupid of Ontario to use an old technology.
Metrolinx:The single biggest source of new pollution in the entire City of Toronto. You will all have your consultants pensions as we choke for the next 25 years. Metro-Stinks
Odd that this plan includes the use of obsolete diesel trains to move people. A really big move would involve the electrification of the railway system, especially in highly populated areas. We need to catch up with the rest of the world on this issue.
