Depends. If we build an AI based on cold logic, they may rebel or leave us. But if we build an AI based on the human brain, an artificial human intelligence, something quite different might happen. The latter is the easiest and most likely scenario. Since it will yield the most promising results. It would be an AI with all the cognitive features of a human being. It would be sentient and intelligent. Projects on simulating the entire brain is already ongoing.

Robots are simpler than humans (currently). Besides, in ancient Rome the human life expectancy was 20-30 years. Life expectancy in the US is currently 77-80. I hardly think that counts as the same. Sure there is no genetic modification (yet) , but robots are less risky to modify because they aren't sentient (yet).
Humans are Biological.. and we have a better understanding of how to make and modify robots and machines than we do to ourselves. so maybe robots will have a better understanding of how to make and modify biological beings. maybe they can find a way to modify humans to be more advanced than robots.. we'll see in the future.

I was not impressed by it.
The LHC began operating, I believe last year or so.
I don't know about VR or what computers are capable of right now.
And we failed to bring anything back from extinction, BUT discovered species though to be extinct.
On the bright side, we did acccomplish scramjet ahead of schedule, but these things get creepy starting about 2-6 years from now.

21st century will suck, peak oil happened in 2005, large parts of the population retiring will bankrupt the states with already too much debt that is never going to be paid back. The crisis were in now will not end because governments don't let the market fix it, instead governments are worsening the situation by intervention. Its going to be a century of decay, collapse, civil unrest, war and degrading standards of living. Drop your dreams, prepare!

You dont account for previous pathways of technology, which weathered the fall of the roman empire, the black plague, the great depression, and every single war, ever. Energy independence within the next two decades will have massive implications for societies of the world. Will bankrupt states with ever growing energy and technology be a pathway to world government? Technology is changing the game. Prepare for the future. It will be grand.

Interesting but a little optimistic on some of the points... Like Kubrick and Arthur C. Clark where for 2001. I hope I'm wrong of course. This also makes more sense than a total terminator or Galactica type of scenario with artificial life going to war with us. It is more likely we will merg together on certain levels. I don't think the last few revelations will come so soon though, especially the last. But what do I know I was born in the 20th century, lol.

I think most of this stuff will probably happen eventually, but not nearly as soon as this predicts. For much of this kind of technology to be allowed to happen, all the people who have not lived with technology for most of their lives will have to die out, as most of them are too afraid of technological change. When this happens in 20-40 years or so we might begin to see some real advancements.

Most of his predictions are are too early.
Sure they're possible and they will come but not so fast.
But about supercomputer: we have now 1,7 PFLOPS supercomputer, so only 6 times less than a human brain, in 2011 20 PFLOPS computer will be constructed by IBM.
I predict home computers to be such powerful in 2020.

this was getting accurate up until it talks about a one brain capability of the supercomputer in 2010. the damn thing needs to do at least 10 PFLOPS. however if you consider the entire Folding@Home to be a supercomputer then its pretty close.

Robots are simpler than humans (currently). Besides, in ancient Rome the human life expectancy was 20-30 years. Life expectancy in the US is currently 77-80. I hardly think that counts as the same. Sure there is no genetic modification (yet) , but robots are less risky to modify because they aren't sentient (yet).

Humans are Biological.. and we have a better understanding of how to make and modify robots and machines than we do to ourselves. so maybe robots will have a better understanding of how to make and modify biological beings. maybe they can find a way to modify humans to be more advanced than robots.. we'll see in the future.
