Smog check technicians never check for tight hose connections from end to end.. They usually do visual inspections , that is it... PCV is a "vaccuum cleaner" for the blowby gases coming out of the bottom of pistons with nowhere to go . Actually PCV is a "slow" vaccuum cleaner which means that tight connections of hoses all around is very vital to keep air clean on the streets.. Blow by gases is not pleasnt to breath.
so if the pcv gets sticky to the point where it dosn't vent right, could that cause oil to come up out of the intake manifold and in to the intake pipes, causing massive oil loss?
@zunilucero It would not be a massive oil leak and depending on the setup would pull oil into the air intake or whatever vacuum line its attached to would be easy to tell by pulling it out and is a easy fix if you do have a problem with it.
@zunilucero PCV only opens just very little enough to allow the intake manifold to suck all the blowby gas out of the crankcase. There is no way that PCV stuck or sticky or not will be open wide and suck oil along with blowby gas . Your engine will run so rough if PCV crack or open wide . PCV acutally sucks very little amount of air every second which mean that it is very important that you check all the hose connections for tight clamps or the blowby gas will not be sucked at all.

massive oil loss means your problem is not simple PCV valve. You need to have it checked out by a mechanic.
