sorry for my delay in responding. it is one of the pieces contained in a CD were Gershwin play some of his composition. I bought it in Ricordi store in centre of Milan a few years ago. I'm not able to give to you any other details .
@BradleyAWestFilms This is Gershwin's piano roll recording...yes it the roll was cut in 1925, but you're hearing a modern recording of the play-back of the original rolls from a well restored reproducing player piano. A reproducing piano roll includes all the expression and dynamics of the performance. The rolls were actually recorded at the Aeolian Hall studio in NYC. Gershwin had an exclusive contract with Duo-Art. The Duo-Art was found in Steinway grands (M,O and A).

The first time I heard this was on a snowy drive during the night... I knew I had to find the name of this song! I finally stumbled across this again, 2 years later.
This is Gershwin's Duo-Art reproducing piano roll recording of his own song - this is a beautiful song - not well known today. Gershwin recorded piano rolls for Aeolian Duo-Art (NYC), one of the top reproducing piano systems (used in Steinways). He didn't make that many rolls for Duo-Art, nor did he make that many 78rpm records. Gershwin concentrated on composing.
what a pretty song!BTW,did anyone notice that Gershwin used a hook from Berlins "Puttin on the Ritz" 2 seperate times in this(1:41-2:00,and 3:00-3;19)
I'm really off :( I don't know either how to reply. sorry again ^_^

Are you certain this was recorded in 1925?
Does this mean that it is public domain? I would be interested in using it in a film.

Underrated composition ! Simply beyond words !
But why the version on the album entitled Gershwin plays Gershwin is slightly faster ?

So I guess Berlin used a hook from Gershwin's "So am I".

@mrbrianmccarthy Puttin on the Ritz was written in 1929, four years AFTER this was recorded.

musica eterna, fra 1000 anni sarà ancora bella, forse ancora di più, perchè dovrà confrontarsi con squallidi raps senza senso!
