  • Dude that Clash song was my favorite, badass!

  • Price?

  • what does the coil tap do to the neck pickup if the neck pickup is already single coiled?

  • @brainboob

Both pickups are actually humbuckers. Untapped the neck pickup is a humbucker, but it's stacked - one coil under the other instead of the typical one coil next to the other. It's kinda like a P-90 with a coil slung under it for hum cancelling. Tapped it becomes a single coil, just like the bridge pickup. When you tap the neck you get a really nice and pretty single coil tone. I love it with a little delay and overdrive while playing No Rain, for example.

  • @mojorison75

So basically I can blend bumbucker and single coil at the same time is what you are saying? Can I also accomplish les paul style tones with this? Not to be rude but I really hate what I am hearing in most of this video. I find the sounds extremely generic. Or is that the playing and amp settings? It sucks because I can't find a single other video showing off this guitar but this one.

  • @brainboob I've had this guitar for about eight months now and it is a great guitar. It plays so smooth. When I firs got it I wasn't pleased with the sound but I swapped out the Duncan Design and put a Suhr Aldrich in and that was the key. The single coil sounds are really sweet. I play mostly hard rock, Classic rock.

  • @JWyaMovieTime

Can you get genuine les paul style ones with it? That is very important to me, because I am more of a melodic player, as opposed to a blues player. I am not a fan of single coil, but I like the fact that I can blend some single coil sounds with humbucker to get a versatile tone option.

  • @brainboob I have a 1978 Les Paul and Suhr Aldrich humbuckers in it as well and I can say that no, you can't replicate the sound of that instrument with the Schecter. However, they are comparable & the difference isn't as great as you would think. Both are mahogany bodies with glued on necks. The Les Paul has more of a growl and thicker tone but the sustain is nearly identical. In fact, I can coax the same amount out of both guitars. Also, pinch harmonics on the Les Paul are slightly more dynamic

  • @brainboob Also, the Les Paul is heavier and thicker which changes the tone compared to the schecter. I play both instruments live and they share equal time on the stage.

  • @JWyaMovieTime

See I wish someone like you would make a demo of this guitar because I think the sound of it in this particularly video is kind of generic.

  • @brainboob Well I don't have the time or gear to make that video but if you go to my youtube page you can find two or three videos of me playing this guitar live with my band at a recent street dance. Not the best video quality but it's close to the sound I'm getting. In person it's a little clearer. And I'm using a Tube Amp, a Jet City JCA50 with a 2x12 Cab loaded with Eminence Gov's.

  • @brainboob

With the switching & tapping options the guitar is pretty versatile: Neck: Untapped - humbucker sound, tapped - mellow single coil; Bridge: Untapped - Humbucker, Tapped - Hotter Single Coil. Then you can put the switch in the middle and have: Untapped, Untapped - Tapped, Untapped - Untapped, Tapped - Tapped, Tapped. Hope this is making sense. I know it can be confusing trying to visualize. In a nutshell you won't have single coil one all the time. You can go either way on both.

  • You split the neck pickup, leave the humbucker untapped and the put the selector switch in the middle to get both. Reverse the tap/untapped above for the opposite.

  • @mojorison75

Wait, I am not understanding something, please help me. Isn't the neck pickup already a p90 style? Why does it need to be tapped then? And what happens when you tap it? Does it reverse the pick up and give you humbucker sounds? Sorry, I don't get it. I would hate it if I had to have single coil sounds in one of the pickups all the time.

  • @brainboob

The neck pickup is actually not a P90 style pick up. It's more a P100 which is kind of like two P90's stacked together. It's a humbucker of a slightly different flavor. The pickup sounds pretty sweet when tapped, though you do lose some volume. Untapped is where some people don't like it, but I think it has some usefulness, though it's more limited. I use it for songs like Lighting Crashes and Other side. The "true" humbucker at the bridge has decent hot single pickup sound split.

  • @mojorison75

So when it is 'tapped' it sounds like two p90s or something like that and its default sound is untapped single coil?

  • I've owned one of these for several months now and I'm still very pleased with it. If you want a mid priced guitar with a Gibsonesque feel but with a little single coil versatility this guitar is an excellent choice. When I took it out of the box the set up was perfect and the guitar was flawless. I have also been happy with the Duncan Designed pickups.

  • @mojorison75

Can you combine single coil with humbucking sounds?

  • Somebody call me on the phone say hey hey is Ollie home…

  • I love P90's !!! *_*

  • that pickguard is gay

  • @MrFenderbender97 Your GAY!!!

  • @TheOzzySabbath You're bad at grammar.

  • I'm really starting to dig this guitar. Think I just might have to pick one up myself.

  • your playing was very delightful. You're an excelent player

  • how did someone from proguitarshit know who johnny thunders is?? Like it doesn't sound like jt's tone at all. it looks like shit too.

  • @coldironhands1

    It looks nice.

  • Stacked p90s are garbage.

  • @DeluxeGoldTop

    explain?

  • I can't believe you played Car Jamming.

  • I can't believe someone actually started a demo with Chinese Rock. lol.

  • Can you get any jazz tons from this guitar I am thinking of getting one..?

  • I just picked this guitar up and it is spectacular. Flawless construction. Nice action on arrival. Perfect intonation. And the sound you hear on this video is very accurate to how it sounds in real life. The only thing that's missing in this video is an example of the pinch harmonics you can get with this thing. Awesome.

  • what kind of a neck shape does it have?

  • Coil Tap= Reduces number of windings on a humbucker. Noiseless

Coil Split= Half of a humbucker/ single coil. Noisy

  • @WoWintosh

thank you for clearing that out!

and does a tap actually sound single coily or just weaker?

  • @Guitarvirtuoso666

I guess you could call it weaker. On any pickup (not just a humbucker, 'Doh!), there will be less output (volume & gain) and the sound will be brighter and clearer. A tapped humbucker can sound kinda-sorta like a single coil.

  • Heartbreaker riffs!

  • Sorry, the product was not found. - -"

  • The Clash!!! WOOHOO!!!

  • When the pickup is tapped, does that mean that 1 or 2 of them are active? I know that the actual coil tapping can change it from humbucker to single, but when it's "tapped" which setting is it?

  • @thatfilipinodude Tapped = Single.

  • 3:03 - 3:53 YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

  • In my opinion schecters are overpriced. Get an agile.

  • Andy, what do you think of the Shecter Solo Vintage? (thanks)

  • these have the best demo's discriptions i have found on you tube.

  • The construction reminds me of the Korean-made DeArmonds like the M77, M77T....among others from 2000-2001.

  • Hey Andy, is there a demo of the Schecter Solo Vintage in the works?

  • DO A BARREL ROLL!

  • Can you please tell what drive you're using? It sounds so ballsy.

  • nice playing dude

  • when he did both un tapped there was one riff where he played real light and it was so clean but then he'd hit a chord and it was delightfully gritty. Good response from those pickups in that position!

  • hey whats a good guitar for metal music?

  • @emoguy372 Pretty much anything with humbuckers?

Seriously though, Ibanez, Schecter, Jackson, BC Rich, even Gibson/Epiphone will be good for metal.

  • sex with whores

  • how would metal sound on this out of curiosity?

  • Where is this model made?

  • Such an old-school looking guitar, like somebody's experiment guitar with those mismatched pickups and pickup colours :D Nice guitar body colors too

  • CHINESE ROCKS!!!

  • dude, you rock!

  • Whats the difference between the JB and that one on the guitar bridge?

  • Does anyone know the songs played at 3:55 and 5:07? It's killing me. Please!

  • how's the sustain on this?

  • @mattymadtoes yeah it's a stacked noiseless p90

  • I need one, but I would add a bigsby to it. I think this is possible.

  • they sell these with bigsbys

  • @william1theguitarwah Would you give me a link for that?

  • I think I want one now , it's very Southern Rock ,, and so am I .

    ~R~

  • hey andy, wheres the coil tap switch/button on the guitar?

    Loving the videos!

    Thanks!

  • The tone knobs tap the pickups. Ya pull 'em out to split the humbuckers.

  • Thanks!

  • i believe the coil taps are on the tone pots

  • Andy,

What overdrive pedal do you step on in this demo?

    Mike

  • Yeah,i,m ordering mine in two tone thank you! REALLY nice axe!

  • mmm tv yellow. me want!

  • anyone know the song he plays at 3:55?

  • @brautigan81 , yeah any 1 knows whats the tune played on 3:55

  • Looks nice i want it in brown

  • How glossy is the finish? btw keep playing Blur

  • @hankventure13 about as glossy as it looks in the video.

  • awsome

  • i think i know where to look when i upgrade my guitar lol

  • "Car Jamming" made my day!

  • 'garage rockers, the heartbreakers'

I noticed the 'Chinese Rock' on the beggining!

  • The tune at 3:05 is Come On Everybody by Humble Pie.

  • Is Andy in a band? I'd listen to that!

  • i have one , it feels much more comfortable than a les paul. as much as i want too, i don't like les pauls.

  • it's a double stacked P90

  • How do you coil tap a P90? They're already single coils...Explain please!

  • The neck pickup is a stacked, noiseless P90 style, meaning there are actually two coils.

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos

This guitar is made from mahogany, so it will have long sustain, right?

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos

Can you blend single coil and humbucker sounds with this like on the michael kelly patriots? Sorry I don't have time to watch the whole video.

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos

    You said:

'The neck pickup is a stacked, noiseless P90 style, meaning there are actually two coils.'

Does this mean when you tap it you get humbucker sounds?

  • Hi, would you do a demo for the Schecter Solo Vintage as well? It looks great!!

    I love your videos!

  • "in a car jam!"

    awesome

  • The last tune in the video is sweet. I don't know it, but a friend of mine says it could a be a Led Zep tune, is she right?

  • We love the guitar demos. This is a very nice one.

  • hey just a quick question, if u turn the tap coil split on, does that change the selected humbucker to a single coil or is it the other way around?

  • if u turn the coil tap the selected hb turns into a single coil.

  • Chinese Rock.Cool song

  • does is feel like an LP or is it a lot worst?

  • Duncan JB owns! Best all around out there.

  • why never use a pick ?

  • @tootjejippie I know.. I'd hate to see what my fingers would look like after 5yrs of slamming them against the strings.

  • because using your fingers gives a different tone, which im assuming andy prefers to a pick

  • just bought one today, it's a great guitar. very comfortable and the P90 sounds fantastic!

  • I dig it!! Love the TV Yellow!

  • suprised ! the 2 different pups work well together ,I like the coils cuts ,slightly tamer that the old school p-90. love that TV yellow

  • So, the guitar sounds great, but the headstock looks kinda dumb.

  • @cosmogang Yeah, if you're gonna italicise the body, why not follow suit on the headstock

  • Agreed, thanks dude.

  • well done

  • this is a really good deal only 500!! i might consider this, for real. schecter is usually a metal type brand, but this kind of stuff, i think they really know what they are doing haha

  • Good clean tones on the other pickups?

  • what's that funky song from 5:06? love the style and the sounds of this guitar.

  • They should make a version with a pair of the P100's. I want my next axe to have two soapbars in it. I already have a JB in the bridge of my Dean Hardtail.

  • what's the gear?

  • I like this one a lot!

  • andy....

does coil tapping on a p-90 mean that only a part of the full coil is being used????

  • @schecterGman Hey man, they say at the beginning that this is a Noiseless P-90, so it's a humbucker technically, and splittable

  • that groove at 5:00 is beautiful

  • VERy Nice!! Great tone, great price, and awesome finishes!

  • wow

    the price is really good

  • they should have made the design more similar to the original les paul special. This looks kinda weird in my opinion. I love the Tv- yellow though!

  • Yeah, the upper bout looks squished out.

  • The Clash <3

  • what is the neck like, andy?

  • Great. Kinda fattish, with a very soft V contour. Very comfortable.

  • am I the only person who likes the TV yellow on that body...

  • @IEatFigs nope you're not :]

  • thank god!

  • you're not =)

  • @IEatFigs no D:

  • @IEatFigs No, i love it

  • @IEatFigs its awsome !

  • @IEatFigs

TV Yellow is the best finish for this guitar...

  • great playability, tone, and value!

allthough it looks like shit... compared to it's competitors... like Eclipses, Les Pauls and stuff..

  • @MrManson94

well sir, this is the only variant that looks "slab"-ish, keeping the vintage garage rocker vibe.... the solo-6 has variants that put other sinnglecuts to shame in every department....

    check them out...

    :) cheers....

  • Well said. We refer to it as pawn shop cool. I think they have a great vibe.

  • great guitra!

  • do the tempest and avenger too please

  • solo vintage please!

  • I like the sound but I dont like the look for some reason

  • My amp (fender hot rod ) Is always left to Andy :)

  • I didn't know Schecter made anything like this

Exactly what I had in mind, P-90 neck, humbucker bridge. Except mine would've been in an ML or stealth shape

  • He dang sure aint playin thru that MarshALL

  • Chinese Rocks

  • andy, you never disappoint.

    keep on rockin

  • At first I didn't like it, but after watching this whole video, I really want it. It just looks fun to play.

  • 3:02 What's that song?! It sounds so damn familiar...

  • love it!

  • Which amp do you play in this demo?

  • Same as always, Fender Deluxe Reverb Reissue. It's off-camera these days to save Andy's poor, tortured ears.

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos

Yet he's sitting right next to a Marshall half-stack :P

  • amazing dynamics at 5:14

  • i love your skills!

sometimes i play with my finger like you did!

    keep em coming up!

    peace

  • Sounds sweet, look good too, and I like that price tag

What amp are you using Andy?

  • Wow, that clean tone is just simply amazing.

  • if that wasn't a cheap les paul look a like with p-90s may god come see it

  • For the record, it's a p90 in the neck and a bucker in the bridge!

  • I actually kinda like this thing! that being said, I wish andy would play with a pick some times.

  • Done- the intro

  • Nice guitar, but ooohhhh noooo, there's that stupid looking headstock. Are you listening Schecter? Lame headstock. Great job though, Andy.

  • You're Nuts! The headstock Rules.

  • I am totally nuts, that is a sad fact my friend.

  • I. Want. This.

  • Pretty awesome!

  • Awesome!

  • Sweet guitar
