Do intel Processors multitask better than AMD? my Phenom ii 550 black does not multitask very well just transfering data from one hdd to another slows it down I can only transfer one item at a time and slowly use the net while doing so, I dont remember my old pentium D's being even this sluggish... Any comments would help, any info even better I am thinking of going from 550 black with 4 gigs ddr3 1333 to celeron g530 sandy bridge z68 set up..
@JEHERETIC amd works better for multi-core processing like graphics. For gaming there is very little difference as the graphics card takes the blunt of any work.
@globalcorey Yeah. After he said the heatsink's compatible with a LGA socket 1156, he explained that the LGA socket 1155 is equally compatible with 1156, so the heatsink with work that socket.
@demonsparkx A lot. I have the smaller version (Hyper TX3) and at max load it comes up to 42c. With the stock heatsink it can go up to 54c at full load. And since the 212P is a much better cooler than the TX3 you can expect some very nice temps. Just remember to get some good quality thermal paste as well. I recommend Arctic MX-2.
@vBDKv oh sweet! im using the stock cooler obviously, and idle 0-20% loads itll run as high as 109F sometimes. under 100% load it maxes as much as 130F at times. still safe but really, just too hot. im going to buy the 212 + this coming month for my build, and yeah i hear alot of people like artic thermal paste's. thansk for the info
@demonsparkx Of course if you don't want to remove your motherboard or if you don't have clearance for the 212 in your case, just get the TX3. It's far better than stock in both cooling and noise ;)
@vBDKv i have the CM Elite 430 black edition, mid size tower its quite large, and a guy i talked to says the 212 + fits fine. ill check that one out as well, if all else fails id just buy the tx3 if the 212 gives me any problems. there cheap items so i dont mind lol. thanks again
I dont know if this cooler will get in my case. My case is 190 mm.
Please tell me how high this cooler is. Is it 159mm with the pipes together? Remember that the pipes get a little bit out on the other site. Please help
i have this on top of my dual core CPU, A DUAL CORE!!! im disappointed...., cools it down really good this will let you overclock, i overclocked mine from 2.6 to 3.4GHz
How loud is the fan on this???My cpu heatsink is stock and it gets veeery loud when i play games. i have the cooler than comes with amd 970 x4 i run at all stock settings. So will it be loud?
Just a heads up.. This cooler will NOT decrease your idle over your stock cooler. It will however drop the load temps down a bit. It's mostly for people that leave their computer overclocked.
@Bladeworkssystems Thanks for the quick reply. any chance you know how that compares to arctic silver 5? they're both the same price so just wondering if i should be preferential to either
@BorisGaquere Arctic silver 5, frankly is out dated.. just about any modern stuff will proove to have higher results.. here are some that are better.: Arctic cooling MX-4, OCZ Freeze, Gelid GC extreme, prolimatech PK-1, thermalright chill factor 3, IC caret diamond 7, and the best on the market is Indigo Xtreme

Just to sort the confusion out, this is a great HSF.
I have built many PC using this HSF and it out preform coolers twice the price.
It's not far behind the likes of noctua or the be thermaltake frio in terms of power.
It also leaves the first slot free on most motherboards for the taller ram, unlike a lot of other heatsinks. Anybody that says it doesn't work either put it on arse ways or the sensors heat sensors are faulty.
@wooterz K, I hate reading that one stray comment saying, "Doesn't work! Don't buy it!" and then newbies like me don't know if it's for real or if he's just a newbie like myself. I'll get it eventually, Thanks man :)

I can say though that putting a rice grain size amount was certainly NOT the way to go with AS5. AS5 has a sticky consistency and needs to be spread over the CPU. I used an old credit card to spread a thing layer over the entire CPU. With the result of having a 30c under load with a 50% overclock. This cooler rocks! Beware it's tall!
why does shit lag so much, but anyways, I'm new to building computers, I already ordered this Fan along with a i5 intel sandy bridge, yet I have no clue how to use thermal glue. can someone show me how?
@blackfuse27 Well i'm pretty sure the cpu and/or hsf(heatsink and fan) comes with thermal paste on it already, but if they don't just put a rice grain size amount on to the cpu and then put down the hsf and let the pressure spread it out by itself.

thanks for making this review, i am thinking about getting this for my AMD Athlon II X4 640 Quad-Core. I am running programs that require the CPU to run above 70% most of the time and the CPU temperature is around 55 [C] most of the time.
@heyitsfreddy With stock cooler? that's good, I'm afraid to play certain games (Mass Effect) for too long because the CPU reaches 56c and it worries me a little...
And Mass Effect only uses around 40% or less most of the time.
@Abraksas112 Yeah, that's what Coretemp says TJ Max of 70c but usually AMD say that it can only take up to 62c and others say that anything beyond 65c is dangerous...
I tried to play Mass Effect again and during certain fights it goes up to 61c!

@MoonOvIce Heard and read a couple of times that 70c is max 'safe' temp and anything beyond that is dangerous. But ok, to be honest, 61c would worry me too. But that's mostly because I don't trust my stock cooler (which will be replaced next week). Still, the stock cooler (being kinda old and quite dusty) does his job quite good by keeping my CPU under 60c.
