yes, they were sisters. Billie, my mother, was very definitely not a lesbian as suggested below. she had three children and died in 1972 aged 66. Auntie Renee lived to 78 when she died of an alcohol induced stroke. I was brought up in West End dressing rooms and Fleet street news offices, my father a distinguished Australian journalist, and all the family are practising catholics. My mother and Aunt ,ad-libbing at home, were the funniest and cleverest comedians I have ever heard or seen.
Fabulous to see the wonderful and sadly under-rated Renee Houston in her heyday. Who would have thought one of her last appearances would be in "Carry On At Your Convenience"!! Sadly Billie didn't keep good health and died at an early age.
