Oh... one other episode that is a bit different in the 1960's Alfred Hitchcock Hour, especially at the ironic ending is, "The Second Wife", which stars June Lockhart. You might be able to guess what is going on, but again, it's the actors and the directors of the day that give these stories a truly riveting quality. In my opinion, the 1980's versions pale in comparison.
I'm so glad others agree with me. I think this particular eposide is among his very best. Others I think that are noteworthy ar "The Jar", which has some very famous character actors of the era, "Final Performance" , and "Final Escape" which was remade in the 80's. You know what is coming, but the ambiance and acting is just superior. There is no pretense or self consiousness in their telling of the story. Why is it that the older versions seem to be at such a higher standard of art?
I think the original black and white is so much better. It hounted me for decades. I was so thrilled when the USA channel re aired these originals two decades ago. You must see it on HULU.
"Such a pretty nurse," stayed in my mind for years after I saw this when I was little. I kept thinking I was going to be laying in bed and hear giggling and that line from my closet or something...
Oh...I've seen and have the british 1972 film "Tales from the Crypt" but apparently there was also a US tv series from 1989 - 1996 going by the same title, i've never seen that, but it sounds good though.TC x

@pepperquentin Saw the original on HULU and was thinking the same thing. Totally agree. I this this looks low rent and the acting is so so.

I just love the ending of this episode. It is scary and eerie. And I love the way the lightning illuminates the killers face at the very end!

Remake of old Hitchcock episode with T. C. Jones, a famous female impersonator.
