just bought a 2011 jeep jk 2 door 6 spd.. yes I have sat radio/cd. pwr locks/windows, heated seats, cruise, air, leather.... But really so what!! I live in northern canada where the roads aren't the greatest, so I needed a vehicle that would be seriously reliable. It gets to 40-50 below here in the winter so heated seats were a must!!! .. I've been offroading tons never had an issue .. dont call us posers if we bought a vehicle we've always wanted.
Totally agree with you, I have no idea why folks are against these options, they probably can't afford them or are to cheap, but ya up here in Canada you need the heated seats or you will freeze ur balls off :)

That looks sick. I am a fan of the stock looking rims with the larger tires. This truck is well balanced and the tires are perfect width. IMO i don't think a jeep should have anything less than a 35" tire on it.

I don't need power windows and locks on a Jeep. You shouldn't own a Jeep if you need power windows. I have a 2010 and it's the bare basic, like they should be. Jeeps are still beautiful.

@fitchhollister Excellent response. Everyone likes to say the new JK isn't a real Jeep. I just replaced my '03 TJ with a 2012 JK (2 door) and I couldn't be happier. The new Pentastar motor is a definite improvement. Yes it has a few more options, but so far it seems every bit as capable as TJ.

People buy jeeps( especially wranglers) to do a little bit of off-roading but what really killed hummer is the fact that people bought them as luxury SUV rather than what they were built for, off-roading. What you will never see is a jeep wrangler lowered with 22" rims and a 12 sub system. Thats what truely killed hummer.

OK I'm not trying to be a jerk but here's some important info
First: BDS make's one of the most unreliable and unsafe lift kits on the market. I seen more BDS parts break than I can shake a stick at. I've seen 2 of their track bars break in two like they were plastic straws. And one happened while driving on the street!
Second: If he plans on driving that JK on the street at all he better sell this IROK tires right away because they will wear down on the street SO fast he will be VERY upset.
In a month or two I suspect I'll be cashing in my 401k (because my job is being outsourced) and, thus, I'd like either a truck or a two door Jeep for fairly light off road activity. My hope is to get something that is very reliable and doesn't drink too much gas. Any thoughts regarding which type of vehicle I should get would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!
P.S. Do car dealers knock a lot off the price if one tells them they'll pay in cash?:-)

And not to mention us 4-doors can bring more people and supplies with us. It easily washed out and I have never had a single electrical problem. Not to mention the YES fabric seats did a fantastic job of repelling any stains and the foam within the seat s repelled any water absorption and they were dry in minutes.

That's good you desire a '06 Wrangler: better engine. The JK has had numerous recalls and I spoke to a ChryCo. salesman and he said he was sad to to see the 4.0L go away and to have the Wrangler change for the cheesy image it now has.
I go by slant6guy because I drive a summer vehicle that has that engine: Reliable, easy to work on and goes 4ever = just like the 4.0L six as opposed to the minivan V6 the new JKs have. Take care and I hope you get the last of the real Wranglers :)
Thanks bro! Yea my uncle has a 95 ford f150 with the 4.0 inline 6. He taught me hoe to drive stick in his. I think the engine will perform way better in the wrangler because its way lighter. Anyway im gonna be driving on the road more than anything but i will of coarse take it off raod every once in awhile. The trails here are basically just dirt trails and hills and a small creek. What package would you recommend to balance both worlds?
Just get a 2" lift, put a locker in the front axle and get some good tires like BF Goodrich All-Terrains or Cooper STTs. Be sure to get ALL 5, not the 4 that some cheap Jeep owners do.
Enjoy that '06 TJ Wrangler 'cause I drive an '03 in Alaska & its never let me down EVER, unlike the new plastik Jeep JKs that seem to be at the dealer for a lot for repairs more so than the TJ ever was.

OK I'm not trying to be a jerk but here's some important info
First: BDS make's one of the most unreliable and unsafe lift kits on the market. I seen more BDS parts break than I can shake a stick at. I've seen 2 of their track bars break in two like they were plastic straws. And one happened while driving on the street!
Second: If he plans on driving that JK on the street at all he better sell this IROK tires right away because they will wear down on the street SO fast he will be VERY upset.

I have BDS coil lift, but the cheaper shocks from ProComp; thinking I should've ordered Fox or Bilstein.

In a month or two I suspect I'll be cashing in my 401k (because my job is being outsourced) and, thus, I'd like either a truck or a two door Jeep for fairly light off road activity. My hope is to get something that is very reliable and doesn't drink too much gas. Any thoughts regarding which type of vehicle I should get would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!
P.S. Do car dealers knock a lot off the price if one tells them they'll pay in cash?:-)

i want of these or the fj cruiser, please no fan boys, going to be 16 soon, and right now i am given the option that my parents sell the 88 bonneville that will be mine on my b-day (really bad shape) or keep it, if they sell it we can get the fj, or the car (truck :) ) of my choice so fj or jeep or stay with the 88?

@EcBuddy123 if you are thinking fj get an xterra fj's are the most bufugly car on the road and are an incredibly shitty design. you cant even see your surroundings when driving its unsafe. I say get the jeep make it a Rubicon.

@aeropostalbaby1 That's because you have never driven a 4-Door JK yet. Once they are lifted they are 10x more stable off road than the 2 door. And not to mention us 4-doors can bring more people and supplies with us. It's always funny when the 2 door owners are always coming up to me saying "Can you put this in your Jeep for me we don't have any room"

@whpony96 and that's lovely if we're al going on a nice fun ride to the grocery store and you want to cerry my groceries. i went to a dealership and asked him "what the fuck is that stereo system doing in here? can i hose it down?" all standard modernized equipment that's 100% NOT WATERPROOF. so you cant even take a JK mudding or watercrossing, because if water splashes in, your radio console is garbage. it's a fucking ford focus with a lift kit, not a jeep.

@aeropostalbaby1 And you simply do not know what your talking about and you definitely don't own one. I have had my entire interior soaked and covered in mud. It easily washed out and I have never had a single electrical problem. Not to mention the YES fabric seats did a fantastic job of repelling any stains and the foam within the seat s repelled any water absorption and they were dry in minutes.

@whpony96 qite obviously i dont fucking own one. what gave it away? the fact that im caling them shitty? lovely that you have repellent seats. good for you. you obviously didnt get one of the new JKs that have leather seats lol. JKs are built for people that want a jeep, but have children. it's their escape from reality until they look in the rearview mirror and see the carseat in the back. the they realize that they traded fun for a kid. and sorry, but a jeep needs more than just a lift/tires.

Did he replace the rzeppa CV joints with the double cardan's ? My brother has the exact jeep, lift, tires, except its in silver.
The factory rzeppa's lasted a week after we installed the lift.

That's good you desire a '06 Wrangler: better engine. The JK has had numerous recalls and I spoke to a ChryCo. salesman and he said he was sad to to see the 4.0L go away and to have the Wrangler change for the cheesy image it now has.
I go by slant6guy because I drive a summer vehicle that has that engine: Reliable, easy to work on and goes 4ever = just like the 4.0L six as opposed to the minivan V6 the new JKs have. Take care and I hope you get the last of the real Wranglers :)

Thanks bro! Yea my uncle has a 95 ford f150 with the 4.0 inline 6. He taught me hoe to drive stick in his. I think the engine will perform way better in the wrangler because its way lighter. Anyway im gonna be driving on the road more than anything but i will of coarse take it off raod every once in awhile. The trails here are basically just dirt trails and hills and a small creek. What package would you recommend to balance both worlds?

Ford 300 was a darn good engine!
Just get a 2" lift, put a locker in the front axle and get some good tires like BF Goodrich All-Terrains or Cooper STTs. Be sure to get ALL 5, not the 4 that some cheap Jeep owners do.
Enjoy that '06 TJ Wrangler 'cause I drive an '03 in Alaska & its never let me down EVER, unlike the new plastik Jeep JKs that seem to be at the dealer for a lot for repairs more so than the TJ ever was.
