Washing the boots keeps em durable. If you take an iPod for example, and cover it with water, It wont give the best performance. If you wipe the water off within a reasonable time the iPod will work fine. You leave the water on the iPod and thats when long term effects take place. The boots can become very slippery and lose grip.
