hi there , itried to erase a tdk bd re 50 gig disc last night , i left it running all night but it still hadnt erased after 12 hours , and there is no, timer bar on the software to tell you how long the erasing is going to take .

@denisi7 what i have doing for erase a DVD, I reformatted the DVD The only think that you need to do, you need just to click on «reform». and that work !!!!!

Hello guys, and girls, if the disc is a CD-RW or DVD-RW you do not need a program to erase the disk, first go to the start button (windows) go to my computer, now in the windows you should see your dvd/cd drive..... now right click the drive and scroll through the option until you find "erase disk" a little window will pop up and you will be able to view many options just follow the on screen prompts and do a fast erase. let it do its thing and your disk will be useful again!

I have downloaded it, but i have found a snag, i have a built in cd/dvd burn thingamy :) and cannot burn/erase any cd's. It comes up with a pop-up saying "Unable to detect recorder" when i try to erase a cd, do i need an external cd writer? thanks

it CANT erase ANY type of disks. it can mainly erase cd-rw or dvd-rw etc. it cant erase cd-r or dvd-r.

You cannot erase those types of discs. You can write data on them once and that is all. The only way to erase it is to through it in a lake.

Let me explain to you this fact. DVD-R and DVD+R discs are discs that are only recordable(hence the "R")/writable once. DVD-RW and DVD+RW are discs that are Re-Writable (hence the "RW) meaning that media on the disc can be removed and added as many times as possible, whereas the DVD-R/DVD+Rs are only writable once
