Was there after the earthquake.. went for medical support to St Francios de Sales hospital in PAP with University of Maryland.. heading back in Sept thru Oct.. What part of Haiti are the majority of these homes- Amazing!!! Unfortunately all they show in the media are the slums in Port au Prince. I'm originally from Trinidad yet I've always been captivated by the beauty, culture, history and struggle of Haiti. Beautiful!

Regarding insecurity... at the time being the situation is very calm and it is absolutely not more dangerous than any other Latin American country.
I walked around in Port au Prince with my friends, we took public transports, motorcycles etc. and it was no problem at all And I´m easy to be recognized as foreigner.
Of course you must not walk around in the slums, but honestly - would you to that in Brasil or Mexico???
I travel to Haiti as often as possible, just have been there for Carnival and the following 3 weeks.... and I loved it as usual. it´s true that the infrastructure is very weak (although there is some progress, for ex. the road from Cap haitien to Ouanaminthe has jus been completely new asphalted, and the roads to the South are in good conditions as well). A big problems remains the garbage... but an investor bringing a good recycling industry to Haiti could make a huge business.

Ika, while I agree with some of your comments, some sounded offensive to us "Negro" haitians (for lack of a better term). While the contribution of Arab-haitian is undeniable, to say it's only because of their hard work is to imply that other haitians do not have such a work-ethic. Yes, there would be an economy even without Arab-Haitians.
I believe that Arabs (and other immigrants) have benefited from a corruptible system in Haiti. But, They are not the only ones to blame.

What part of Haiti are the majority of these homes- Amazing!!! Unfortunately all they show in the media are the slums in Port au Prince. I'm originally from Trinidad yet I've always been captivated by the beauty, culture, history and struggle of Haiti. Beautiful!

Haiti is the poorest country in the Western hemishpere with 80% of the population living under the poverty line and 54% are in abject poverty. GDP per capita is $1,300 $US. Thats why its generally referred to as impoverished. But you're right not all of it is. and the pictures showing the beach are beutiful

Regarding insecurity... at the time being the situation is very calm and it is absolutely not more dangerous than any other Latin American country.
I walked around in Port au Prince with my friends, we took public transports, motorcycles etc. and it was no problem at all And I´m easy to be recognized as foreigner.
Of course you must not walk around in the slums, but honestly - would you to that in Brasil or Mexico???

I travel to Haiti as often as possible, just have been there for Carnival and the following 3 weeks.... and I loved it as usual. it´s true that the infrastructure is very weak (although there is some progress, for ex. the road from Cap haitien to Ouanaminthe has jus been completely new asphalted, and the roads to the South are in good conditions as well). A big problems remains the garbage... but an investor bringing a good recycling industry to Haiti could make a huge business.

Hey just wanted to come with a request and say something as well. For starters, your slide show from your trip to Hiati is awesome and colorful. Seems like you absolutely enjoyed yourself.
The second item: I was wondering about the music from that video. I love all things dance/trance/elec/etc, and the music just caught me dancing while watching your photos. Was interested in the music's title so I can find it somewhere for my iPod.
