(facepalm) He killed the whole idea of perfect round shape by..putting them in tube..god this isn`t happening. I throught Japanese were smart, obviously not all of them.
@gfhnk I've never understood why that don't just issue a 1000 Y note, give it a new name (KYen or something like that) and name all prices in terms of it. It would save a lot of time spent entering and writing zeros. Anyway, "feeling of warmth" aside, it would have been more interesting if we had gotten a chance to hear how a 1" full-range speaker sounds.
Nice, cute little speakers for a notebook PC. BUT, for him to say these are "high performance" speakers is a joke! You need larger, conventional speakers (as found in a true high end system) to get full range sound and true bass down to 30HZ or so.
@AudiophileTubes Once upon a time, Radio Shack had some kick ass little speakers called Minimus 7. I would hook them up and sit them on top of my big speakers, which weren't hooked up, and time after time, people would swear the big speakers were making all that sound.
@douro20 i can appreciate that to some extent, but i buy speakers to listen to primarily, and a $12 1" tang-band driver (W1-1070SE - while a little better than mediocre) doesn't cut it for me, especially not when i'm paying 1000x markup
ROFL at his description, "incredibly high performance speakers". These are cheap-ass Tang Band W1-1070SE's. $13.00 @ PartsExpress. Manufacturer's Spec's - Freq. Resp. = 170 Hz - 20 KHz, SPL = 81 dB @ 1/1M, Max. Cont. Input = 4W. You'd need four of these per side to get them to handle the 10W they need for living room listening levels and you'd need mid's and woofer's to give you ACTUAL full range ( 50 Hz - 16 KHz) reproduction.
I find it difficult to believe these would beat a bookshelf speaker of the same price. One with a decent sized woofer for listening to anyone how doesn't just have a mid-high voice. Biggest mistake, 1 speaker can't do everything. That is a hopeless 1" speaker, it will barely do mids and just do highs. But lows, there is no way. There is a reason we have 2-way, 3-way speakers etc. It is the size of a tweeter! High performance, what garbage. Where will the heat go?
Higher fidelity does not always produce the best results...there IS something substantial to be said for thin resonant wooden cabinets(pine for example) and alnico magnet drivers, especially together.
its nice but organic has nothing to doo with sound quality of a speaker.
the ideal speaker enclosure is stiff and wen that is done properly it doe'sn
mather what material is used.
i think its an psygological reason: many audiophiles tink wood=natural and the speaker then always sound good...that's in fact not a wed of nature.
with music intruments its a different story...because then the cabinet must fibrate and make sound...thats not you wan't in a speaker.i will only hear the music..no cabi.
I think they could put a bigger speaker in that. It seems like the ones on those ipod boom boxes, possibly a more expensive version. I expect these speakers to sound good, but not go especially loud. It says 'full range' (I'm betting 150Hz to 14kHz not sure about dropoff rate) though I'm sure a subwoofer would be needed to get the best out of them
You have ABSOLUTELY no idea what you are talking about. U think throwing a speaker in a box not designed for a speaker will make it sound good. Well lemme tell ya something. These guys DID NOT just take a sphere and put the speaker in there. They did mathematical speaker building terms, using the speakers Xmax, QMS Vas and all the other specs, and used those to create an enclosure. Enclosures are made specifically to the drivers specs
No, it is not the price of the driver. It is the designing for the sound acoustics. To make a tiny speaker like this sound very good, they need to spend money to find the right design. By the way it looks, the people wanted to make a small speaker that looks good, and sounds good. It looks like it acheivs both. Also, alot of the speakers that are 1000 dollars, the actual driver is only 90 dollars, while the design for acoustics is 1000.
dude no.that means nothing.1inch speakers like this cant make a lot of bass.and if this cabinet would make them sound better,i still wont pay 1000 bucks for it.cuz i can use better drivers and a cheap ass cardboard box.
Wow. 1000 bucks. I didn't realize. But what u don't know is how an enclosure can make a speaker sound so much better. A cardboard box wont sound better, and will not resonate the frequencies these can. Listen, you dont know what you are talking about. I have read the book "speaker building 201" a book that explains collage level stuff they use in audio school. I know that these sound MUCH better then a cardboard box. Putting little speakers in a cardboard box would sound nowhere as good as these
Alright, listen. I know MUUUCH more about audio then you, and my dad is an audio engineer. He has produced his own studio speaker (doesn't sell it) and it sounds very nice. He has taught me most of what he knows, and I read a COLLAGE LEVEL speaker building 201 book. Putting a better speaker in a cardboard box would NOT sound as good. You have no idea what your talking about, and you need to put spaces between commas and periods. XD
Hey, no need to be so rude man. You realize its youtube, and you understood what I was getting at. I type fast and sometimes mispell, but I am not perfect, and neither are you.
@masterwolf1212 "looks like it acheivs both" ??? I think you're right, it's designed to look as if it sounds good. If it actually sounded good, we'd hear it playing in the video.
PS: I don't think too many "mathematical speaker building terms" could have gone into the design of these. The enclosure is simply a cylinder a little bigger than the size of the driver, and just long enough to fit inside of those cool looking spheres.
@masterwolf1212 Well, if you're inclined to shell our $1100 to hear them I'll be anxious to hear your take on them. Meanwhile, I'll keep my headphones and boring speakers from Bose and CSW.

A good speaker for those having more money than brains.
The joinery is overkill as is the finish which is called urushi.
Many people will have an allergic reaction to it.
Keyaki wood is poor & expensive choice for a speaker enclosure!!!
Try MDF. The speakers will sound much better.
Use keyaki veneer & carnauba wax for the outer shell
It's just a poor audio copy of a Bose 501Z. It's a shame that they are so over-priced and the maker didn't do his homework on sound quality.
