Having flown single rotor and coaxial rotor (dual rotors spinning in opposite directions) model helicopters, I reckon this type of helicopter may be the best solution to one man flight. Very stable.

@CmdrTobs thanks.i jump free, 25.00 if you have your own equipment and license. i would suggest a tandem first to see if it's for you. you could be soloed if you pass all the levels. of AFF (accelerated free fall) you will be landing solo right away. the instructors will let you go @ about 5000 ft. Then about 10 of those then you can go solo until you get your A license 25 jumps total. to be able to jump with others after you pass the written test. I have 4100.

Personally, I don't understand why all helos aren't coaxial. Most probably because of the complexity and cost of the design.

Absolutely lame. Germans in WW2 developed similar "scooter" which was the predecessor of a helicopter. And the purpose for these Germany made air scooters was to take off from sub-marines and scout the area. Later on it was used on places in difficult landing opportunity. So yes this today's "Air scooter" technology is "Stunning"...
this is the best flying machine so far, lands on water too, coaxial was envisioned by russian enginners back in 1700's , then Nikolai Kamov made it real, then japanese copied it as well, they have made similar products, but his one looks safer and less noisy
contra rotating discs can auto rotate as well as single disc helicopters, and i feel they are actually safer, as you do not get the pronounced gyroscopic action that you would get with a single disc/tail rotor helicopter. If you have a tail rotor failure in a single disc helicopter, you can stop gyroscopic rotation, if your airspeed is above around 70 knots. Also, if you look from the rear of some helicopters, the fuselage, is actually not symmetrical it is flatter on one side, like an airfoil

Oh I don't doubt it. I'm just speaking from flying RC Choppers with contra rotors, they are stable as hell until they hit an up/down draft, then it's all over the place. Maybe it's different with full scale choppers. Don't get me wrong, I'm well impressed with these guys. Did you know they make an RC version of their chopper?
