  • Is this the same concert that she did "Der Holle Rache" and she seemed to conjure the wind.

  • great... for me this is another CALLAS!!!

  • SO expressive. Love her. Even if her diction wasn't "perfect," it's her performance and technique that are riveting.

  • Diana has such a rich coloratura voice with a unique warmness :) Go Diana!

  • @CrazyPianoPassion in other words French is a troll language that only the French would make; a language designed to make it impossible for anyone of whom French isn't the native tongue to learn the correct pronunciations

  • she is the best actress on the opera stage!!!

  • fantastic

  • The unique thing i dont like of this it is her "lalalala". Amazing acting and finale!

  • Nice turn at the end...a crowd pleaser.

  • love her jaloux jaloux part:)

  • olé a las muchachas de Cádiz

  • God she is just so...amazing.

  • I prefer Victoria de Los Angeles, she's a very great singer and her interpretation is better and her french too!!

    Diana damrau moves too much!!

  • Fantastic! Bravo! Good Bless you! And Thank You.

    James.

  • Schrecklich!

  • AWESOME!!! :D I love this woman's singing and performing!

  • yess like Meryl. ololololo.. yessss...

  • ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL!

  • Wow! belle interprétation.

  • lol, true !

  • I find the way she performs to be supremely annoying.

  • Meryl Streep in her opera debut!

    LOL!

But seriously, lovely as always! Love Diana! She's great!

  • Often times when sung end consonants that would be pronounced when spoken are not when sung it can be confusing but usually it makes sense because of where it the consonant falls in the phrase.

  • Well this is the best version of the famous bolero...

  • She is a little ruff sometimes jajaja. And indeed looks like Meryl Streep

  • Beautiful!

  • nice voice ! I feel good to hear this voice. (exept the german accent)

  • @violinistx100 try la bohome or tosca!

  • @violinistx100 Write some! :D

  • Love this song and this interpretation. Beautiful!

  • i love this one!

  • There is actually no hard and fast rule of pronouncing the word 'Cadix'. I am sure it is linguistically arguable.

  • @ImanalinMr What is this song/aria from?

  • Comment removed

  • @ARReith :Hi! Noticed no one answered your question. As far as I am aware,Les Filles de Cadix(cadi, cadiz) written by Leo Delibes, four years after he composed the ballet, coppelia, thus 1874,was a stand alone melody. There are some really good performances on Youtube, from sopranos of different fach:Diana, of course,is a very dramatic and extraverted person, so hers along with Sutherland,Bartoli are in yer face.Streich,Durban are sweet lyrical and then there is Pat Petibon having a lot of fun!!ok?jk

  • Great. But it's CadiX! Like AsteriX and ObeliX

  • Dear, if you don't trust me, trust, for instance, Mady Mesplé (you can find a recording here on the Tube). She's French, you know...

  • well i read a comment below that say is actually cadiX so, your right XD! sorry, it's just that i've seen the same discussion in all Les Filles de Cadix videos and i am going unsane about that, cuz i had listen to other songs and seen some french movies and most of the times i hear they didn't pronounce the X , that's why i thoughed it was cadi

  • She is so difficult to sing this - I think. And what happens to her face?

  • what do you mean?

  • edengirl17, I mean, she facial expression something strange, and the lower jaw and throat jammed.

Ok, I don't know to write in Italian, I tried:)

I think she let herself in under the spell of the music, overreacted mimic, check Danielle De Niese, that is what I find overreacted. I like Daniele but not in that one.

    Have a good day.

  • don't worry. he cannot speak italian as well. ihiihih

  • she looks like Meryl Streep here!

  • @mezzoanghy

yes, you're right, she looks like meryl!!

  • Outstanding again...Diana Damrau=GRANDE!!!!!!!!!

  • Where was this?

    I want to be there!!!

  • Lalindatita, in French, the last letter of most of the words isn't pronounced. Diana says "Cadix" correctly =)

  • sorry it isn't a général rule I am french and we do pronciate the "x" in "cadix."

  • Tks, I didn't know about that exception.

  • mais bien sûr que si!

  • Thanks a lot...I was going crazy with this "Cadix".

  • @tropikakibis French has a few pronunciation "changes" when sung.

  • Incredible that no one pointed out to her how to pronounce "Cadix"! It's a pretty important word in this aria ;-)

  • She's a genius! Her acting is marvelous! Great! :-)

  • incredibly good!!brava!!

  • I am going to need for a high C# not to be that easy for her. Amazing!

  • Dianissimo! Dea! Diana! Brava!

  • Just as much as I love Diana, I prefer her in the Italian or German repertoire. Her voice has developed to lyric soprano, it is now fuller and richer, losing just a bit of the agility that is required for this piece.

  • ??????????

  • To those who rate my comment poorly don't misunderstand me. I love Diana and saw her live four times in Europe and in NYC. Still, this piece is not where she is at her best in my opinion.

  • I don't think she lost the agility and became a "lyric" soprano. The dramatic quality in her voice is more prominent than the coloratura.

However, I do agree her Italian and German repertoire suits her more.

There is piece by Lorin Maazel which she sings well on youtube and it's in English. Check it out!

  • She is the best! amaziinggg!

  • woooooonderfuuuuuuul!!!!!! (L)!

  • from the 869 views so far, I think mine is at least 100 :-))) I am simply not able to tell in words, how good is she in my opinion...

  • como te amo...como te amo...

  • OMG her acting is fucking amazing!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hmm, nice french! And beatiful voice, as usual.

  • beautiful*

  • She sounds so mezzo at the beginning... She makes me very happy!!!

  • She's a genius!

  • There's no way I can't stop watching her dance... Her movements are so perfect and accurate! This woman is addictive xD

  • She looks like a real spanish flamenco dancer XDDDDDDDDDDDD

  • Yes, she does!

  • Can you dance flamenco like her?

    XDDDDDDD

  • I can't dance flamenco at all xDDDD I'm more into salsa, but I'm pretty sure she dances salsa way better than I do. Ach xD

  • So are you spanish or not?????!!!!! You can not dance salsa and not flamenco XDDDDDD

Anyway it will be great to see Diana dancing flamenco or salsa dressed like a bavarian girl!!!! XDDDD

  • Hm, not even half of Spain can dance flamenco xDDDDDDD

  • Well, I know you from a short time, but I have already understood that you are not the tipical spanish-Mediterranean girl....

    XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

  • Normal Spanish people don't go around dancing flamenco xDDDD It's like saying everybody in Sicilia è un uomo d'onore xDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

  • I've never been in Sicilia but in the north part of Italy we usually think that over there everybody is a uomo d'onore

    XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

Yes I know that in Spain people don't go around dancing flamenco... But this doesn't mean that you shouldn't know how to dance it!!!!

  • Why do people say everyone in Sicilia is un uomo d'onore? this is true?

I want to see her dressed in traditional bavarian stuff - it would be so cute.

  • This is a very very long history.............

It's very hard to explain in english!!!! You should be italian to understand it.....

It was because once Lilith told that leporello was un uomo d'onore....

And I told her that in Italy uomo d'onore means mafious!!!! XDDDDD

In Italy there is a bit of animosity between north and south.... In general in the north we think that all the southern are mafious and they don't want to work....

  • i see...

anyways, i think lilith should take up flamenco dancing xD

  • XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

Yes good idea!!!! Tell it to her....

  • She's irresistable

  • This is the most subtle version of this song I've ever heard! Bravo!!!!!!!

  • SPLENDID.

  • Her 'lalaralaralala' is soooo good!!!

    Thank You!

  • Yeah. Thanks! :]

  • Oh, perfect Diana, as usual

    Thanks for post it! :)
