Great voice, but the pronunciation needs help. A tip: it is "Cadix" and the "x" is pronounced. (That is not optional.)
When singing in a foreign language, it is advisable to go over the pronunciation with a native speaker or to listen to how a native singer pronounces the words.
@CrazyPianoPassion in other words French is a troll language that only the French would make; a language designed to make it impossible for anyone of whom French isn't the native tongue to learn the correct pronunciations
Often times when sung end consonants that would be pronounced when spoken are not when sung it can be confusing but usually it makes sense because of where it the consonant falls in the phrase.
@ARReith :Hi! Noticed no one answered your question. As far as I am aware,Les Filles de Cadix(cadi, cadiz) written by Leo Delibes, four years after he composed the ballet, coppelia, thus 1874,was a stand alone melody. There are some really good performances on Youtube, from sopranos of different fach:Diana, of course,is a very dramatic and extraverted person, so hers along with Sutherland,Bartoli are in yer face.Streich,Durban are sweet lyrical and then there is Pat Petibon having a lot of fun!!ok?jk
well i read a comment below that say is actually cadiX so, your right XD! sorry, it's just that i've seen the same discussion in all Les Filles de Cadix videos and i am going unsane about that, cuz i had listen to other songs and seen some french movies and most of the times i hear they didn't pronounce the X , that's why i thoughed it was cadi
Ok, I don't know to write in Italian, I tried:)
I think she let herself in under the spell of the music, overreacted mimic, check Danielle De Niese, that is what I find overreacted. I like Daniele but not in that one.
Just as much as I love Diana, I prefer her in the Italian or German repertoire. Her voice has developed to lyric soprano, it is now fuller and richer, losing just a bit of the agility that is required for this piece.
To those who rate my comment poorly don't misunderstand me. I love Diana and saw her live four times in Europe and in NYC. Still, this piece is not where she is at her best in my opinion.
It's very hard to explain in english!!!! You should be italian to understand it.....
It was because once Lilith told that leporello was un uomo d'onore....
And I told her that in Italy uomo d'onore means mafious!!!! XDDDDD
In Italy there is a bit of animosity between north and south.... In general in the north we think that all the southern are mafious and they don't want to work....
Is this the same concert that she did "Der Holle Rache" and she seemed to conjure the wind.

Lalindatita, in French, the last letter of most of the words isn't pronounced. Diana says "Cadix" correctly =)

I don't think she lost the agility and became a "lyric" soprano. The dramatic quality in her voice is more prominent than the coloratura.
However, I do agree her Italian and German repertoire suits her more.
There is piece by Lorin Maazel which she sings well on youtube and it's in English. Check it out!
