Jordan was one TOUGH mofo. Look how physical he played even on offense, the way he man handled bonzi in the post @ 3:30. The Vibe was like " your mine bitch" damn.
Uncanny... We are not worthy! We´re not worthy! (everyone on their knees, please)
MJ this, MJ that... Best 90s Bulls season? 94. 9FUCKING4!!! The one without Jordan. Scottie and Toni... Those playoffs were unbelievable! Specially when the damn Knicks stole the series against Chicago with a miserable, biased call... Hey, NY had to win sometimes, right? Anyone who watched the league remembers that invented foul...
@blackadam06 It was a hell of a season to watch. To quote KG: "HELL YEAHHH!". Obviously, the 2nd three-peat was wonderful, but I really enjoyed watching the Bulls without MJ. But the refs made that horrible "mistake", and robbed us the chance to see another Chicago championship against Houston, with Scottie winning the finals MVP.
It´s just that Jordan was too perfect,so it was strange, but exciting at the same time, to watch the bulls in that season. Did I made myself clear now? Good...
what i love in this vid, you see Jordan's mastery of the post. He may have not invented the fadeaway, but no one matches his vast arrays of different fades. he can fade from either block, left or right, and set people up for it like no one who has ever played. He feels the defender so well, and knows which way to take the fade.
hoops, u know i don't believe n a goat, but i like 2 judge a player by his position, 2 think that there was or is a better, more complete player at the off guard position than mj is absurd --- i'l say this, he's the goat when it comes 2 shooting guards no doubt, LOL ... that drive baseline 4 a lay-up (note how he used his body 2 shield-off arvydas, intelligence of mj, of course) vs patterson was the highlight 4 me, mj, the old lion using his mind 2 beat the youngster nstead of his athleticism
Hoops, There is a debate on the SF Chronicle today about who is the GOAT. I said MJ is the GOAT and posted some of your statistics. However, one guy posted back and said to me that "You (me) are seduced by points. You're (me) ignoring assists, rebounds, steals, blocks ... all of the "hustle" categories where players like Magic, Russell and Bird filled out the stat sheet in categories where Jordan isn't even a blip on the radar." WTF? I said MJ was GOAT in all categories.
1220amusoulradio, here's just another reason to tell that guy who posted you: Did he ever witness Bird, Russel or Magic came back and play at NBA level at age 40 and STILL be able to make sensational Js dunks and lead a team to victory with that same hunger and passion as he (Jordan) did at age 40?? If he can confirm that question AND deliver PROOF, I'll grant him that there's someone grater than MJ!! If NOT, tell him to get lost, because he's obviously waisting everybody's time!!
GREG: Yep, I replied back to him. Posted ALL stats which demonstrate MJ is truly the Greatest Of All Time in ALL categories even to the age of 40 and greater. The GOAT is the GOAT. Period. Thanks.
so much for the arguement of kobe faces superior athletes and competition therefore his stats and championships are greater. Here we see grandpa jordan at ages 38-40 averaging 23 a game for 2 years putting up 30's,40's and 50's against the same superior athletes that prime kobe faces.
I have never seen anyone argue that Kobe faced a tougher competition than Jordan, unless it's by those damn Kobe-homers that just ride his **** like a horse.
Hand-checking? REAL fouls?
No one in their right mind would argue that Jordan had it easier.
@dv122 But what you people don't understand is that you wouldn't be mentioning T-Mac, Vince Carter or Wade in every Jordan video! So by mentioning Kobe in the same breath as Jordan shows that no he's not as good as Jordan but the guy is damn close meaning he's the second greatest SG of all-time and a legend in his own right. Stop the Kobe bashing. Kobe himself said Jordan is the greatest get off his nuts!
@dv122 .....fans of kobe bryant cling to the notion that mike put up far better numbers because he faced lesser competition,as if mikes numbers would go down in the modern era....
mike= 22.4 ppg from february 19th to april 16th of 2003.....that represent the 30 games he played past the age of 40......right in the middle of kobes era.....
if mike could average 22.4 ppg in 2003 in the last 30 games of his his career(all past age 40) why would they possibly doubt what PRIME MIKE could do now
@dv122 Well said. It drives me nuts listening to people saying Kobe played against superior competition. When you here people say that you want to ask if they watched the NBA in the 80's and 90's. Clyde Drexler, Mitch Richmond, Reggie Miller, Dominique Wilkins Steve Smith and so many others were just as good as a lot of these guys are today.
Don't forget: MJ even had 25+ PpG at the All Star Break 2002. Phil Jackson said that MJ is the MVP right now..Then his knee spoiled the fun.All that with an off-season preparation includin a broken rib (thx to Metta ;) )
Another great upload from Hoops. It's wonderful to see how Money adapts his game to his limited athletic ability, and still gives a great performance! His eye for the game is second to none.
Also... something as simple as stepping inside the 3pt line, like he did at the 5:04 mark is what separates him from the rest. Most players such as Bron, Kobe, Wade, Melo would've taken the 3pt shot instead of taking a higher percentage rhythm shot.
His foot work was just so automatic, coming off a screen on either side of the court, backing up off of a fake cut....it's just beautiful. Folks just look at the ball going up and in but his dance made it hard for the more athletic younger players unable to get to the shot. Dean Smith work ethic, man.
My favorite part is the lightning quick drive past Patterson at the 2:25-2:27 mark. This is what made Jordan the best ever: his ability to INSTANTLY read defenses and make split second decisions. No superstar player in the NBA today can make that play imo. Has nothing to do with his speed and everything to do with how quickly he reads and makes decisions as to what to do with the ball. It's instant.
My god man people just dont get it if he were younger most of those layups would have went in or would have been sick dunks.I never looked at Jordans days in Washington as failures and the more guys post the good Wizards game strengthen my claim.Michael Jordan was groomed by the greats of the game when it comes to winning and he groomed the future of the NBA with his skill package.
People say..."he's getting open looks" well, that's because he got himself open!
I think he can come back right now and score 10 pts just by using screens and setting up the defender. And this is with the defense concentrating on him. If he played with a great big man, lets say... Gasol, he'd get an easy 14-16 pts without breaking a sweat.
lol so true. MJ is so crafty and moves without the ball so well that the double is late or doesn't have a chance to materialize. MJ's moving without the ball is so underrated. He doesn't have to run like a lunatic to get open.
@jordanlover23 Thanks you for pointing out what so many people miss. Of any player in NBA history, MJ probably has the greatest feel for the game. That subtle move on the baseline was quick and decisive, even at 38+ years old.
@jordanlover23 I really like to watch his footwork and how he uses his body..... Footwork is one thing that you only get with practice and lots of hours in the gym. Every single move he does, he sets it up perfectly.... Simply amazing to watch how good he was even at 40 :D
My favorite play was the fast break at 1:53, because I wonder how Jordan was going to get through it, and it ended up being such a smart set up. My curiosity made it better for me.
I love how effortlessly MJ got up for the two hand alley oop at 1:04 at age 40! I also love the sweet behind the back pass at 2:03 and the steal at 2:46.
Interesting at 4:05 Anderson is handchecking Jordan's arm. He's holding his elbow - pretty rare to see that without a foul called in the 2000s.
Awesome to see these rare highlights! This is one of the games when you see the sheer competitive nature and skill level which Jordan had his whole career. Even the 2 years with the Wizards are no exception!
omygoodness. At the age of 40 c'mon... Imagine I would have just loved to see MJ play now only in his 80 years, with his super athleticism. He's quicker than most of the player right now at 40 man. also that alley oop was sick but was even nicer was the set up fakes using the screen to get the wide open backdoor dunk. MJ the best.
DO you guys see how he gets his points? Seriously LeBron really needs to study these highlights. Notice how MJ uses his screens and how he constantly moves without the basketball. Even Kobe doesn't get his points as efficiently as MJ does in these clips. Kenny Smith said it best people confuse what made MJ great with what made him fun to watch. This is what made him great, his knowledge of the game. Which is a result of 3yrs under Dean Smith. Kobe and Lebron could've used some college.
haha well said. too bad it is way too late for both of them.
it is so amazing to see the 40yr old mj jumping up for a two hand alleyoop. even with the injury his condition at this age is superb. notice how he used his body in those fadaways, he can still bump and fade.
Hoops, thanks for the birthday weekend (or close enough) birthday gift. Your #1 YouTube supporter out've Bermuda! Keep em rollin man. Look forward to your vids big time.
I really loved how the zone defense didn't let him post up, I also loved how the zone defense forced him to shoot 3s. I also loved how the uber athletic players and modern defenders stopped him time and time again.
