  • Over rotating! Tut tut tut

  • Learning ? Helmet !

  • carve in first you wont go off to the side

  • Look where you're wanting to go. that stop your shoulders naturally from overrotating. Two birds with one stone. :D

  • looks like your over rotating your body. the board is gonna follow the rotation of your upper body.

  • What I've been doing lately is finding a steep hill and I kneel really low and slalom from side to side doing frontside and heelside pendys to get the feel of sliding and it's working great. If I make my turns really tight I slide more and descend more slowly. This was the easiest way for me to learn sliding. I'll try Colemans next time.

  • lean back way further, and grab your board with your front hand at first to get used to it

  • Nice, looks like you nailed it there in the end. Your doing the right thing by learning this speed check before you start on the hills. Try footbraking at progressivley higher speeds too.

  • wear a helmet ;)

  • if u grab the rail of ur baord u wud get it no bother

  • @jimboNI92 but thats not a coleman then

  • dude, try learning by holiding the board

  • thats only half of the coleman

  • Very nice form, dude! I love our slides! Just one tip, put your left hand on the ground faster so you have more drag time so you don't hit the other side of the street

  • Head forward(the direction you're going), extend your legs, pushing the board out, transferring your weight onto your arms, and pull the board back in, transferring weight back to your feet.

  • that was more of a hard 180 carve with hands down. some speed and put you weight on your hand then you can use your legs to kik the board out and away. if you do this quick and then trasfer weight back to your feet you can stand back to your board

  • do you guys have sliding wheels

  • more speed... get more weight on your hand, and kick out the board rather than carve into it. And technically that's not a success b/c you're supposed to come back. All you did was a hands down 180...

  • instead of cornering, slide it.

  • U need more speed

  • hahahah! funny!

  • WHERE'S THE HELMET?????

  • make sure you always look the direction you want to go

  • You need more practice and more speed, but is ok! :)

  • you need more speed and if you are learning that with speed grab the board, and put de hand in the floor and you gonna see how easy can be :D see ya

  • shift your weight into the slide faster.

  • no, that's a coleman pendy slide

  • wow nice... though wear a helmet! otherwise good vid im also learning

  • @keyoffate ya like honestly when i street skated i didnt wear shit soon as i went to longboarding always have a helmet slide glvoes and knee pads on because road rash at 40 mph is never fun

  • @xxfitzyxx20 road rash isnt fun

  • oya from my post b4 i actually just bought a bustin cigar with randal trucks and orangatang stimulus wheels 83a. I tried sliding on my friends sector nine and all my friends where doing small 180 toeslides really slow but i was just trying the coleman and i couldnt slide. any1 have tips on how to do it? do i have to keep my front knee up to my chest or do i need to spread out and push with my legs?

  • need more spped to slide good...

  • try getting less speed. with the speed u get once u hit the 180 mark u start rollin, which means u would need to pendy. if u have less speed and do it u would shutdown, which looks like what u wanna do. the one that says SUCCESS is going to a 90 degree shutdown so not technically a coleman

  • your taking too much time going into the slide. has to e sharper and weight centered over the board so it doesnt slide out from you like in most of the vid.

  • ive ridden my friends longboards many times before and im going to buy one soon. What wheels would you reccommend for all around riding and beginning to slide. Would retro lemon zigzags (83a) be ok? anyone please reply if you know thanks.

  • Retro is veryy long lasting thane, but ive heard when youre first breaking them in, the reflex thane is chattery, or atleast its that way for limes. Begining to slide, you might want something that would break in faster and a dirfty thane, like a tang. or you could go freeride wheel if you dont want to break em in,

  • K thanks for the advice. And i hear abec 11 strikers are good. would you prefer those? the only thing is there in sizes 66mm because i think the next size was 76 mm and that might be too big for my board, and im low on money so the wheels would be my only ones. Is it worth getting the smaller wheels?

  • smaller wheels have a smaller contact patch so will slide a little easier, first off what board are you rockin'?

  • im gonna get the malakai 40 from original. I asked the company and it can only have 70 mm wheels or smaller. but what would you overall reccommend. 70 mm retro zig zags. Lemon 83a or 66 mm strikers 84a?

  • lemons. retro thane is super durable and will last awhile

  • ok thanks. Im not trying to argue with you or anything im just wonderin. Wouldnt i want strikers for learning to slide cus if the retro thang last a while it would take a long time to break in right? And i forgot to mention, If i get the strikers i would also have 65 mm krytonics 78a that came stock on my board. If i get the zigzags off originals website for only 30$ they would replace the krytonics that originaly come stock so i would only have one pair of wheels (zigzags).

  • freerides r the best if u just want to slide becuz they dont really need to be broken in. the only problem is that they start to chip if u slide alot on rough roads

  • this dude turns gradually into it..he doesn't whip his back weight into it....

  • 83 a is good, helps ur technique cuz not too hard and is a challenge cuz kinda soft

  • oh and if those arent actual slide gloves they wont slide with you and they will pull you off your board. u can make some with corian and velcro

  • your doing it too slow, try puttin your hand down when you do the heelside carve, also make that carve fast and deep.

    hope it helps

  • good job on not wearing a helmet

  • FAKE fat kids cant slide longboards

  • The reason why you kept failing was because you are turning the board to late as soon as want to colman you need to turn it an make sure it makes the slide noise with the wheels.

  • dude dont slide on the white paint on the street it is kindda slippery

  • you gotta keep your eyes down the hill, then u'll do more sliding and less turning uphill.

  • thats not a coleman...thats just a one handed toeside slide.

fr it to be coleman youd have to bring it back to regular

  • heelside?

  • yup not toeside.

  • you're over-rotating your shoulders, and you should kick out your back foot sooner. once it gets down then put your front hand down, and kick out just after.

  • Wtf's a "coleman slide"? That was a bert.

If for some reason it's not, please explain to me the difference.

  • Bert Slide: Done on a bank. U plant ur hand while ur board goes up the bank and whips back around underneath you going down the bank in your normal riding position That is a bert slide cut and dry. (Used in parks, and banks so on...)

Coleman Slide: Used in downhill. Designed to slow u down. It CAN be done with out forcing around to regular. Cliff Coleman. The inventor of that slide does it that way as well. Or u can just slide 180 degrees and ride away switch. The purpose of this slide slow down

  • Good job. I hope you had gloves.

  • exactly how i was haha

  • I think you held it off a little too long.

    Just a little.

Is the sliding hand (the fingers) supposed to be facing forward or back?

Having it back wards might be bad for the position and you might slip, but facing forward can make your elbow really vulnerable.

    Help me choose.

  • Wicked learn to powerslide too they can be so good going at around 20+

  • good job! i'm learning myself right now.

  • keep ur head facing down the hill and youll nail it

  • can u slide on speedboards(boards used for raceing)

  • Yes, that's sort of the point. You gain air resistance and lose speed if you try to footbrake and sliding is the easiest way to stop and not get killed by a car.

  • Not the easiest, but as long as it is a successful slide you will be okay.

I tried with my speedboard (rayne demonseed) and is not easy(I have 85mm slalom wheels, duh)

I need rounder wheels, mine have lips.

I used to have Sector 9 Racing Formula wheels (81 a, 80mm) and they slide pretty good.

  • dude as long as u stop before u get killed who gives a shit about form

  • Get a helmet loser

  • You should get a helmet. It may not be "cool", but neither is a coma. Triple 8 has some cool ones that don't look too gay.

  • I know what you're doing wrong, always look straight down the road, you have no idea how much it helps (I used to do the same thing you did).

  • I think you should keep you head forward the entire time, this allows you to turn back and keep on going.

  • not too bad you have good form. the only suggestion i can offer is put your lead hand down earlier and swing your other arm earlier. This will allow you to do a tighter turn instead of the wide ones you're doing here, and you will also have enough speed to swing it back around if you want. Good luck!
