(sorry no Melissa here, but the feelings remain the same)

  • Tehe I was also named after this song.... But I'm only 14 but my dads a total stoner so I can't blame him love u dad

  • I was named after this song, just found out last night :]

  • Sweet Melissa, loves you James ; )

  • I love the sound of this, it makes me thankful for those I have. There is nothing better than a song that reminds you of how beautiful each person in your life is. Sweet Melissa reminds me of my daughter because she is such a free spirit, and it reminds me of just how precious our children are. I know it sounds goofy but it takes me there.

  • Melissa was Duane's favorite guitar! Morons! LOL

  • @vettekingiam it wasn't his bike?

  • @vettekingiam

actually greg was sitting in a graveyard and saw a tomb for a girl named melissa and wrote this song. check out skydog, the duane allman bio. you might be right though, but that's the story behind this song.

  • @TheMralleng

I read somewhere that the song had been written, no title yet, and one day Gregg heard a mom calling after her daughter named Melissa in a supermarket and decided to use that name as the title.

  • James - Crossroads! I love you - Your Karen aka Melissa

  • This song takes me back now I just want to get on my Harley and ride .

  • 1 dislike ? 1 homersexual

  • @Geo69xr

    Homersimpson?

  • thank you ☺

  • a sweet name, and even sweeter sentiment. I was named after my mom's sister. By my dad!

  • At 19, I would ride around North Texas in the sunshine listening to this.

  • @ImmagineOne

    Hell yesh.....

  • '' WTF''...one dislike my god have mercy on your soul......''

  • This song still sends goose bumps up and down my spine everytime I hear it, and I was a young man when this was released. Today I'm in my sixties and it still sounds great. I'll never tire of hearing this song.

  • Crossroads will you ever let him go

Or will you hide the dead man's ghost

Lord, or will he lie beneath the plain. Or will his spirit fall away?

But I know that he won't stay without Melissa

Yes I know that he won't stay without Melissa

  • What the fuck is this ONE thumb down?

  • @FreddyGuy925 - it's JUST ONE! Who cares? Not me- and I consider this piece to be up there with the most hauntingly beautiful Celtic harp music.

  • @cjsmith3693

I know, I'm just fucking around.

  • My guitar is soooooooooooooooo proud to be named after this song.

  • It's kinda crazy that this is a good song by a well-known band yet it only has 15K views

  • Lol I always thought being named after this song was original, until I discovered youtube..haha feels great to know how many people love our song though <3

  • nice trippy sound quality

  • This is a different version

  • The Allman Brothers Band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995

  • This is a song for guys that have spent time on the road and have encountered a few women along the way, but not to good result due to a preoccupation with some one from the past that will always hold him in deep check. The shit part about this is one's inability to put this person behind and get on with it because she will always be there in the back of one's mind to make one recall the sweetness of the time spent with her with. The sad part is learning that she settled for some clown.

  • @newmorning59 You hit it the proverbial nail, friend. I've also always considered this a railroader's song, being one who feels passionately and nostalgically constantly, which makes for very, very long trips literally and psychologically.

  • @newmorning59

Wake Up , its not summer 69 ,

Popov is way past behind your Burger King

  • @newmorning59 It is true that this song is about someone who can't live totally in the present due to their heart being somewhere else. But Melissa is the name of the guitar. Music can be a terrible and wonderful lover.

  • There was a little girl named Melissa who was killed after a long night of horrible mistreatment by her daddy or stepdaddy, can't remember which. There were weeks of horrible details on the news, and this song was playing often on the radio. Now 40 years later, I still think of that little girl when I hear this song. I wonder if anybody else from Nashville does too. Poor sweet baby deserved better. . . .

  • bittersweet memories

  • I'm soooooo proud to be named after this song.

  • @nokturnal5645 So true man. This is my uncles favorite song and everytime i hear it i think of summer and being on the river with his boat.

  • It is Dicky Betts on guitar. Duane was dead when this song was recorded.

  • I was named after this song. Thank you Dad!

  • @MelissaGrace55 Me too. :D Sounds like we have some bitchin' parents.

  • IT MAY BE ABOUT DUANE ALLMAN WHO DIED ON A MOTORCYCLE BEFORE THIS WAS RELEASED

  • ONE OF THE ALL TIME GREATS

  • Such a beautiful song. Makes me think of summer memories.

  • イート・ア・ピーチから"メリッサ"~気だるく憂うグレッグのヴォーカルが、デュアンのなんとも言えないギターが好きだったでヨ!

  • @blackandtanful dont know what that says but im givin it a thumbs up anyways.. the allman brothers are the greatest!

  • @blackandtanful so da, de mo Duane-sama no kami wa ippai ni kono songu desu.

  • First.

Great song; Duane Allman's guitar sounds beatiful as usual.
