  • @bnewton81 The link for it is in the description.

  • What python file. You totally glossed over that.

  • when you scale the sphere up 20 times, doesn't that also increase the polycount times 20, or are you just making the polygons bigger?

  • how do you download the python file coz when i went on your link it said it wasnt avalable if possible can someone send it to me

  • in the newer virsion there's an addon u can toggle so it's easier now

  • can u only make games like unreal turnament?

or can u make ones like different styles like rpg?

  • @MrIhaveacat u can make any game u want if u can script your own characters and stuff

  • @MrIhaveacat u can but it takes a shitload of coding, not for beginners.

  • umm do you have a link that is not out of date? iv tried two different python scrips and neither of them would work.

  • Great vid man, iv been looking for something like this!

  • I have a VERY complex mesh... if anyone wants to try to make the collision for it be my guest....

  • I cannot use UDK to make a playable character from scratch, right? I have to use blender or similar?

  • hmmm...

    Broken Link

  • Really fantastic. I could not figure this our without your help. Thanks

  • you have made my day.

  • When I make my static mesh Dynamic my player is no longer blocked by the static mesh. I mean I can walk right through it. I've tried exporting FBX and ASE files from blender and both give me the same issue so it must be something I'm doing in UDK. Anyone know how I can keep my static mesh collision and have a dynamic (movable) mesh? The mesh will bump into other meshes but the player can walk right through.

  • @silentsteven84

You have to set it to Block_All

  • Awesome tutorials! Please help us on how to export static meshes from Google sketchup please! This is a request!

  • Please update the download link, because it's says there's a download error.

  • Hey Raven! :) How do you move from one room to the other room? I mean from one hollow cube to the other?please reply!

  • HELP MINE WENT INTO A NEGATIVE SPHERE SO YOU ONLY SEE THE INSED OF IT

  • @ergalybergaly1753

In blender, go into edit mode with the sphere selected. Make sure all of the faces are selected. If none of them are selected, the easiest way to select them all is by pressing A while in edit mode(You might have to press it twice). Then press F9 to go into the editing tab at the bottom. Under the section "Mesh Tools", there should be a button called "Flip Normal". Click that, and it will make your sphere's faces flip around so it won't be negative anymore.

  • @tongofication thx man ur a fuking god!

  • men i want your script (the python script, i need it to do it ? ; can you give me it?

  • My texture maps didnt get imported over from blender -_- which is annoying lol.

  • How can i make my game looks great with low polys but still realistic ?

Could you advice me where or what i should study ?

  • @Leaderll My grenades are quite low poly but they still look quite realistic, it all depends on the textures really, learn normal maps, and texturing.

  • Im using Blender 2.53 atm... is it more worth learning UDK than using Blenders Game Engine? i have only tested very basic movements in the BGE atm

  • @Necry3d I used BGE for a week then realised it sucks.. you cant create 2 sub divisions without blenders game engine lagging, use UDK.

  • Thx for all the tutorials. I am trying to learn how to use UDK and these tutorials are great! :D

  • how would you assign that as your main character?

  • when i dragged and dropped my mesh it didnt show it it just showed it as a wireframe in the other windows how do i make it show in the bottom left 3d view window in udk?

  • can u make a new download link for the sourcecode pls...this one don´t work

  • Thank you! I was worried I'd have to pay for 3ds Max to build my portfolio for my game career. I love blender ha ha :D

  • Did anybody count how many times he said "all right"? lolz, Doesn't really matter, 'cause u make GREAT tuts dude! :)

  • Thanks, great video

  • Do you can make a tutorial how I can make it posible to get an enemy to attack me.. like in cod6 or other games.. or could you say it :D??

It would be a great help

  • I am using Blender in place of 3dsMax, can anyone suggest a free photo editing program that will work well with the UDK and Unreal Tournament 3 Editor? Thank you.

  • @undyinglight

    Use Gimp or paint.net

  • @raven67854 Thank you, I will try GIMP as I have a few friends who use that.

  • @raven67854 i agree with gimp it easy and simple to use... also the source file link isnt working

  • @undyinglight Gimp works AMAZING if you know how to use it

  • @undyinglight Yea GIMP is the closest to photoshop your going to find freeware wise....

  • Dosn't work.....

  • thx

  • good video, just the problem is when you export complex meshes like an stair.. the collision turns weird... :(

  • That's because UDK prefers not to use convex collision models. You can do it, but you'll have to look around to figure out how

  • thank you ^^

  • Thank you so much!

  • @xXMyChemFreakXx

    Your welcome

  • Any chance of a tutorial on how to get smooth groups from blender to udk?

  • @Woolybear777

Could be have to see if that even works if it does i'll make a video on how I did it.

  • @raven67854 the latest version of blender 2.49b has improvements on smooth groups. although I don't really know too much about it.

  • what are you using as screen cam

  • i dont get the part about how to imporrt static meshs lol jk but hey can you do a tutorial on how to changing your character.

  • I get this error message.

"Generated/imported vertex count ratio (24/8) exceeds expected percentage (200.00 percent vs 25.00 percent expected). "

An item is imported it seems, but there is nothing there.

    Help?

  • these tutorials are mega!!!

  • could you make a tutorial on once the meshes have been imported to UDK, how to add material to different parts of the mesh.

  • Is this method sufficient enough to also export player actors?

Sorry if this question doesn't make sense; I'm still learning.

    Great tutorial!

  • how to make animations

  • Hey this is awesome.

  • Can you make a tutorial , how to import Animations from blender into UDK ?

  • Sure if I can find a skeletal mesh I can :).

  • Comment removed

  • thansk you .

  • Hi again Raven, this is a really good video but the link in the description doesn't work, if you can renew the link, it will be helpful.

  • You'll have to manually navigate the site. They don't allow offsite linking anymore it would seem.

  • Had to stop offsite links I'm afraid because it was being abused. Exporter is on the Tools page which is easy enough to get to though ;o)

  • On a side note, would you be able to provide a short tutorial on virtual displacement mapping and occlusion?

  • Possibly in the future I can yes

  • How can you import meshes from cinema 4D r10 into udk?

  • Does cinema 4d support collada? and far as static meshes does it support ASE?

  • No it does not support ASE, is there some ASE exporter for cinema? or should i export it to 3d studio max and then export to ASE?

  • I don't use cinema 4D. You could import it into 3ds max then into the UDK. You can try googling for an ASE exporter for Cinema 4D. I don't use it so I have no idea if it has one or not.

  • Ok, well thank you for your help !

  • thx

  • Your welcome

  • Hey, thanks a lot for this tutorial series they are most helpful.

    Now here goes two requests:

1- any idea on how to export materials from blender to udk ?

2- any particular order in wich your tutorials should be seen ?

  • 1) it already exports a base material. But no you can't as far as I know export any custom materials you have made in blender into the UDK.

    2) Watch getting started 1 and 2 then just watch whatever else you want in any order.

  • wow ! that was quick !

Any hows on creating materials then, i'm downloading getting started 1 and 2 so have'nt seen them yet, yust in case this question is covered there

  • Some of my tutorials show you how to use the material editor. But I will probably upload an in depth version later.

  • that'll be greate, i have plenty of time while importing the actual scene...

    Again, thanks a lot !

  • No problem

  • THANK YOU!!!!!

  • Your welcome :D

  • Thanks but how do you make the sphere move when you shoot it? I'm guessing the "static" in static mesh has something to do with it.

  • The mesh is static. However if you make it into a rigid body it you can roll it around.

  • Thanks, now I have to figure out how to do that haha.

  • Hahah I will make a quick tutorial tonight for you guys.

  • Thanks for being so helpful.

  • No problem

  • Oh, I actually did it on my own for once haha. I added the rigid body in blender, then I messed around in udk for a while. Eventually, I right clicked the sphere and picked convert to kactor. The sphere was floating but moved and rolled when I shot it!

  • Awesome but I will probably still make my own tutorial :P.

  • I tried to do it again but it seems that the player can't kick the ball to make it move. I can only shoot it.

  • Great!Thank you!!!

  • Awesome Tutorial! This one helped me alot because i use Blender all of the time!=D

your tutorials keep getting better and better!

    Great job!

  • Thanks :D
