  • Graham was just on "That Metal Show" tonight with Eddie Trunk.

  • Joe Lynn Turner sang this so much better......

  • Is that ace Ventura?

  • @NordicBlood84 No, no. It's Kyle Reese from The Terminator.

  • poor graham, had a flu on this show... the version of lost in hollywood, from the same concert, is awesome! great singer!

  • Nice flying V Is it a charvel ?

  • @atomicplayboy4u Aria Pro II

  • @ratbatblu HA! I had a red xx back in the day. Played ok. Sounded shite!

  • Bonnet kinda looks like jim carey / ace the pet detective or is it the other way around haha

  • q fea musica, afortunadamente malmsteen ya no toca ese estilo

  • @Animet1610 Todo es una evolución; nadie empezó tocando a todo trapo

  • Malmsteen before he got chubby face syndrome.

  • How much does chris imprelliterri kill malmsteen in this???????

  • Cool to hear Malmsteen play less classical-like for a change.

I know I had an Alcatraz tape in the past, cause I liked Graham's singing in Rainbow, but I can't remember any of the songs from it at the moment, or if I even liked it...hmmmm

  • This is even better than the original version!

  • Certain he was better than Eddie in 1990 but... I did love Y. J. S. M. back in 1984. Rising force and that Live Alcatrazz album. Very good shit

  • Yngwie was perfect Live back in the 80s. Nowadays he is sloppy and unoriginal. But hey, he was the best guitarist in the world from 1978 to about 1990. I´m not saying he is bad now, but he is NOWHERE near his prime in the 80s.

  • since you've been gone (8)

  • graham bonnet sucks

  • @mconforti1 He is good with chris impelliteri

  • @LipstickFlash WHITE AND PERFECT !!

  • @yellowraven8 Whats white and perfect?

  • @LipstickFlash white and perfect is a Bonnet and Impellitteri song excellent !!

  • This song was done originally by Head East. The lead singer then was John Schlitt. He went on to massive fame with Christian band Petra.

  • yngwie is too good for these band.

  • Graham Bonnet has epic hair.

  • le garçon coiffeur du metal... bonnet

  • Yngwie is a machine. A bluesy one here!

  • that's an aria pro2 V. and yes blackmore's neck is scalloped. there is a vid here somewhere where richie tells a story about a luthier refretting his black and white strat. it seems the guy didn't understand scalloping and he filed the neck down flat! you can imagine how thin the neck was at this point. needless to say richie was pissed!

  • Yes, I've seen that video. Y.T. user thiagoafrock has it posted. Took me ages to find. He's spelled "collection" with one "L"

The over-zealous fret man who planed his neck flat and by the time Ritchie re-scalloped it it was too thin to play.

  • yep & i am pissed cause no fuckin body can explain what kinda black box glued on top of the strat is the thing behind the bridge !!!

he is playing never without that since years now......watch the last deep purple tour vid & you'll see.

  • i havent seen any videos.. but could it be a roland gk pickup?

  • someone answered me iz a roland git-synth unit .......BUT if richie soundz like with deep purple why use a synth for still producing the sound of a british tube head ???

  • well like i said.. i havent seen any videos so it might not be. but if it is.. the gk synth isnt used for amp sounds in general. more synth sounds.. so for key type sounds etc. its possible that he has it attached to his guitar but isnt using it all the time...

his amp sound still comes from his engl (which is actually german unlike the marshalls he used to use, so technically not british sound!!) and if he has a roland.. he probably just uses it occasionally.

  • This is a Ritchie Blackmore Rainbow song that Graham sang when he was in that band.

  • First time I see Yngwie play a decent song from a real great guitar player. Straight rock song no fucking shredding and endless sweeping.

  • No shit. Yngwie gets old fast.

  • I agree. He actually stuck to the song for the most part for a change. Still, I can see why they let him go because he totally upstages the singer.

  • Anyone remember Steeler? Another band Yngwie was in.

  • I saw Alcatraz once in a little bar downtown Huntington beach California. I'm having flashbacks. I rember getting Yngwie's first solo record. I carried that album with everywhere I went no joke.

I Don't feel like researching so if I'm wrong I'm a dumb ass. Somehow years ago maybe 24 years I learned that the Gibson flying V guitar was a Randy Rhoads Gibson collaboration design. Search Youtube for Quiet Riot. There is some cool vids with Randy Rhoads before Ozzy snatched him up.

  • Dude/Dumbass. No. Not the Gibson V. That guitar was before Randy's time. Randy designed the Jackson flying V.

  • No! He designed the Jackson Randy Rhoads

  • You knew what I meant bro.

  • unholy shit ! the fly V was invented first even before woodstock was happenin / when hendrix used 1 in the studio randy was still shittn in his pants boy !

  • GRANDE Yngwie

  • Nice, don't play like that anymore. What's up with music these days. Live & sounds great, these days pop stars don't even sing they mine. Nice vocals, where is Graham these days, hopefully belting away some voclas.

  • @zgolijan He is going to play on 18/12/10 with Walter Giardino here in Buenos Aires, Argentina!!! Fu(K1ng awsome!!

  • @zgolijan He is going to play on 18/12/10 with Walter Giardino here in Buenos Aires, Argentina!!! Fu(K1ng awsome!!!

  • I believe he was using a Aria pro II guitar.

  • Interesting guitar. I think it is a V body with a Stratocaster neck. Why would you bother? The whole point of the V is to give access to the upper frets, but the Stratocaster neck is shorter than the V neck so there is nothing to have access to. Other than perhaps wanting double coil pick-ups, I am at a loss on this one.

  • It looks to be an Aria Pro II guitar, that's not a Fender Strat neck, looks like 24 frets on that one. Gibson V's have a 24 3/4 inch scale while Fender Strats have a 25 1/2 in scale

  • Looking cool obviously, lol, yngwie's technique is so good he spends most of his time on how to look cooler while playing

  • Yngeie with a V!!! Nice! rare shot!

  • please listening this solo... you can t say that vai is a better guitar player come on.....

  • この曲がZARDの「負けないで」に似てると思うのは私だけ?kydのコード進行とか・・・いや、たぶん私だけですね・・・。すみません。

  • same

  • Did you stick out your tongue at your screen after you wrote your baby comment icyfire ? not just in rainbow but he was with out question in the top of all Frontmen, he just wasn't a record label darling, thank god. the funny thing is he has the power and range that MOST Frontmen lack.

  • Graham Bonnet is the best Rainbow's frontman

  • malmsteen with a v haha whatt!!

  • che gustaiterei!!!!.... ha rohaihu yngwie, mbareté tractor!!!!!!!

  • this is weird lol its like Yngwie has gone all soft!!

  • yngwie had some medical issues. I forget what. but the treatment led to weight gain and he was unable to move around quite as much.

but he still rocks. I don't know how you can call Perpetual Flame soft

  • weird, its yngwie playing a guitar that is not in any way a fender stratocaster

  • It's actually quite alot like a strat, namely single coils, six a side headstock, maple board and a trem.

  • Did Yngwie play on a scalloped fretboard back then?

  • I think he scalloped all his necks after he discovered it. Its gotten deeper over the years though, on the early videos its quite shallow, while on the later ones its much deeper.

  • I wonder if he "discovered" it from Ritchie Blackmore?

  • No, he worked as a Luthier for a while in Sweden, and he found a Lute that was scalloped instead of having frets, so he tried it on one of his 'Bad' guitar necks and it became a 'Good' one.

He didn't find out about Ritchie till a while later.

  • Blackmore played with a scalloped neck? I didn't know that.

  • Bonnet + Yngwie - creme de la creme

  • hmm, i didnt know yngwie played anything other than a fender? thats awesome, and when the camera hits him sometimes, he looks like the lead singer of wasp, blackie lawless, haha, actin all crazy with his mouth open and stuff haha

  • oh WOW THANKS FOR POSTING THIS. I HAVE NEVER SEEN REALLY EARLY YNGWIE VIDS. THIS IS GREAT THANKS!

  • ...really, huh?...kinda' strange to see Yngwie play anything other than a Stratacater!

  • at least its the right color! lol

  • Yndwie uses Gibson Flying V to sound like Michael Schenker during this tour Alcatraz was playing alot of MSG songs just right after Graham Bonnet got fired...lol

  • It's not Gibson, its Aria

  • sorry just a flying V.

  • Naaa... Alcatraz were a space-rock band from South Wales, which gigged a lot in the early 'Seventies. The laed guitarist pioneered climbing ..his stack and jumping off.

  • ROFL!

    :-D

  • Yep! Alcatraz Mk1 came from the Swansea Bay Area, not the Frisco Bay Area... I can still see them in my mind's eye... ripping it up in Aberystwyth, surrounded by we appreciative hippies in tie-dyes and loons ('Dudes') or 'Pre-rahelite' Dresses ('Chicks'). Aahhhh memories!

  • What guitar is that? It has a flying V body, but a tremolo and one side headstock.

  • I think he had a few Aria guitars back then- they were early 80s before Ibanez and the other shred guitars hit

  • the most sucking thing about any brand fly-V is that 2 great heavy metal guitarists (mighty randy & pinching zakk) play(ed) one with a ridiculous PUSSY PAINTJOB !!!

fucking points all over-version does not fit skullhead image, right ?

these guitars look like some of my grandmothers kitchen napkins or anything weird close to that.......pissing me off - period.

meanwhile KKK (kerry kermit king) got a bad ass looking BCrich but can't play it / strange world, eyh ?

  • first time that i see ygnwie playing with a V... LOL

  • doesnt Graham look like David Bowie in this video.

I like this alot more than the original.. almost as good as the stuff he did with Impellitteri.

  • he looks like a wallstreet broker sometimes or the guy from the slimy escort service - strictly biznez as usual or monkey beersness.........greetings from skid row haha !

  • its funny, but if you listen to this song and then compare it to some of malmsteens solo projects, its crazy the change. I mean, he's a great guitarist, but it seems that in his younger days his solos had more 'feeling'.

  • yeah this band rock!!!!! forever

  • damn... check the speed at 0:30 ... inhuman o_O

  • hahahaha funny remark

  • I cant stop watching 1.30. That dance is too funny! What a voice but what a bad showman, he has no stage charisma.

  • is this a cover?

  • originaly from the band Rainbow, the "Down to Earth" album

  • thought so.

  • Yngwie and Alcatrazz were Aria shills in the 80's, so that is indeed an Aria V - probably with crazy mods. Arias were hit or miss.

  • its the body of the flying V (gibson) and the

    neck of a strat (fender)

  • No its not, its an aria V. I used to have a black one round about 1982.

  • Ok what guitar is Yngwie Using, I want the exact model name, and where can I find one I tried looking everywhere!

  • Graham Bonnet looks like a cross between Huey Lewis and Dennis Learey.

  • I'm pretty sure that gitfiddle Yngwie is playing is an Aria Pro. They were released in the early 80s at the same time as the Ibanez rocket rolls. Both guitars blew the Gibson v's out of the water so Gibson launched a lawsuit, and now both are history. Don't quote me on this, it's just what I was told. I do know this however. I own an original Ibanez rocket roll and it is far and away better than my Gibson v.

  • Not true, they were not in the same league as a Gibson, in fact the aria was a terrible guitar. Bolt on neck, badly fretted, crappy alder body with no sustain at all.

  • Gibson V all the way look at how Michael Schenker did in the 70's and early 80's.

  • Hate to tell you this, but if you look up ebay item #150278006957 you will see an ad with Yngwie pushing Aria Pro guitars. To be honest I don't have much experience with Aria Pro, but I can tell you, many people who come into my studio and see the Ibanez and the Gibson hanging side by side on the wall naturally have to try them out and they all prefer the Ibanez over the Gibson. To be fair though, I think the Gibson has better tuners and slightly better intonation. (but it's a new guitar)

  • Dude, that's Bowie

  • i have this dvd

  • what the f*ck? i didnt know that JAMES DEAN can sing?

  • actually not really quacky, more round, bubbly, i love his tone though on that guitar; it has more depth and body, i'd love to hear it with a rosewood neck...

  • Yngwie Malmsteen with a Flying V? My head hurts.

  • it looks like a flying v, but it has a different headstock

  • it's a fender neck...

  • my bad, that's definitely NOT a fender neck...

he's getting a wicked good tone from that guitar though, the notes in the solo are ringing like bells, glassy, quacky, duck tone!

  • Graham Bonnet is the worst front man ever! hes got No charisma and looks gay as fuck!

  • All you can think of is Gay, Gay etc Pathetic.

  • weak

  • Malmsteen without a Strat? Grahm Bonnet is hilarious at 1:30.

  • he couldnt be any gayer

  • Aria ProⅡ XX?

  • lmfaooooo 1:30 thats gotta be the gayest thing ive seen all month.

  • dude that is ridiculous, well at least he was having a godd time lol

  • yngwie is a great guitarrist,,,but in this vid he sucks a lot, the song is like fuckin glam

  • Graham Bonnet reminds me of that gay cop on Reno 911

  • Haha perfect

    Bonnet = James dangle

  • umm whats the title of the song?

  • "Since you been gone" by Rainbow

  • thanks a lot..!

  • Bonnet has a brilliant voice - Yngwie on Alcatrazz just took over the world . No one then had nothing on him

  • i agree graham has an awesome voice,

  • lol at 1:30

  • lol

  • Would be much better with a singer like geoff tate or bruce dickinson

  • What were Ritchie Blackmore, Michael Schenker, Yngwie Malmsteen and Steve Vai thinking? Graham Bonnet has to be the biggest dork who ever walked a stage with a mike in his doofus hands.

  • Agreed.

  • Apparently more than you Graham Bonnett is awesome Assault attack down to earth and both Alcatrazz efforts were landmark achievements for all three bands and you guys are just deaf or have zero musical taste.

  • Uli Roth outplay Michael Schenker?

Thats funny stuff i highly doubt its a contest between them because they are such close friends but for pure tone and style Schenker wins hands down in my book .

  • Uli use to have great tone until he started using the sky guitar. The first 2 electric sun albums are neoclassical at it's best. And I too favor Michael with Uli as a close 2nd.

  • ALCATRAZ! AND SLENDER YNGWIE!

  • this is YNGWIE! check out mattrach 16 yr old guitar genius!

  • are you sure it s him?

  • its yngwie, i saw this show

  • i m not sure that's yngwie

  • The best than the rest

  • AH AH AH...Q;"What' s the name of this song?"A:"SINCE YOU'VE BEEN GONE??"Very funny!!!!

IS HE REALLY JIM CAREY ???

  • SINCE YOU´VE BEEN GONE??

  • what is the name of this song?

  • LOL!!!

  • Malmsteen and Bonnet....fucking awesome, even back then. Yngwie was still in his Blackmore mannersims stage, but those runs at the end are worth waiting for. Superb.

  • Bonnett kind of has a Luke Perry style haircut.

  • what a hideous V guitar

  • probably an Aria

  • Did a chick film this??? LMAO... why am a staring a drummer and then Willem Dafoe during the guitar solo??

Great post... Graham Bonnet is an acquired taste, but he was Very good.

    Yngwie J. was always incredible.

  • saw this cheaper version at the richmond social club, the zep boys got him out of trouble that night !!!

  • actually, if you listen to some of uli's older recordings, you'll hear some runs that later became yngwie's and vai's runs some fifteen years later. some were sped up, some weren't..

  • never seen YM without a strat

  • Yngwie knows about music he isn't a metalhead like others guys(excuse my english)

  • Comparing Yngwie to Ted Nugent is like comparing Filet to Ribeye ... they both are awesome depending on the kind of beer you are washing it down with. Long live Uncle Ted!!!

  • I agree, everyone knows Blackmoore is His Hero,That uli jon Roth story,Is Out Of Leftfield, but ALOT OF PEOPLE ON THIS SITE DON'T KNOW SHIT,They just think they do,

  • this is a great song, but bonnet is no Dio,Or Even A joe lynn turner,Cool To See Yngwie Play Something Besides Those Boring Strats,He Should of Played V More Often

  • i had this video 20 years ago. yngwie must be embarassed to have been in this group before. graham bonnet is a joke.

  • Everybody and his dog (minus schenker4) know that Yngwie's god is Blackmore. He said a zillion times that he grew up to the music of DP/Rainbow, while he only found out about Uli Jon Roth some time before he recorded his 1996 'Inspiration' cover album ( half of which being Blackmore stuff, btw )...

  • That's what he told to keep some originality, do you know the story of his band's name Rising Force? I guess you don't... run back to college my friend...

  • What college would that be "school of rock" lol

  • absolutely, fly back to the stone age...

  • jesus christ everyone givin info on all dis who gives a fuck its yngwie and a great song(of course everything u have sed is tru and great like :D)

  • Pre 79 scorpions ULI JON ROTH sails of charon lifes like a river well burn the sky thats Yngwie influence

    not Blackmore

  • A bit of both, actually but predominantly Blackmore...

  • agreed, he stole exact lick from uli, i love malmsteen but uli was doing yngwie stuff befor yngwie had pubes

  • He was doing "yngwie stuff" on a very elementary level. Yngwie certainly created his own style.

  • both are two of my fave players ever, imo uli at his best was just awesome, "catch your train" from virgin killer is one of the best guitar songs ever from opening feedback to last note, if you haven't heard it you have to, it has perfect tone, phrasing, melody, vibrato and just flat out rips................

  • I havent heard it. I know he is bad ass and certainly overshadowed Michael Schenker. Yngwie said that Uli is the reason he started using phrygian modes. Sometimes I get defensive, because people claim Yngwie ripped him off. I just don't believe it.

  • uli plays circles around schenker, michael was never one of my faves but i do respect him, uli was and is incredible, yngwie was probably my biggest early influence for years, as i get older i appreciate uli more and more, check out "catch your train", maybe best all around rippin guitar song ever !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Rainbow-Since you´ve been gone

  • i seen this tour...and yngwie blew shitty ted nugent out of the water

  • i love this song. Rainbow it's my favourite band. I like Graham,he isn't Dio,but he is great singer. yngwie is perfect

  • I saw Alcatrazz back in March of '84 opening for Night Ranger, right before Yngwie bolted. To this day I've never heard the albums(s) he did with them but this is a reminder of that concert. They played All Night Long too.

  • Badass
