  • whats the big deal with a little got glue on the lens.. it would just peal off and wouldn't ruin the lens at all.

  • Thumbs up if you cried a little wen he put glue on that lens

  • I hope no one watches this and ruins a perfectly good lense.

  • 25 sec in Photoshop

  • I do not think someone will throw their lens just to do this. A lot of Tilt shift software is available out their. Not smart at all i think

  • 179 people actually tried this

  • a lot of current SLR's come with a setting called "miniature" for nikon and something similar for canons. Why not just use this instead of going through all the trouble of constructing some crazy looking device?

  • What camera are you using?

  • 2:49 they look like toy cars

  • So ghetto, so stupid.

  • i hate makemagazine intro

  • Let's see... spending $300 on a lensbaby, or fucking up a $700 lens with hotglue etc... to get the same effect... Wow, this is a difficult decision!

  • I don't like you Kip Kay

  • That's fkn ugly!!!!

  • stop cutting holes. buy a set of holesaws -.- haha

  • Plz make a spaceship! (thumbs up if you want him to make one) XD

  • Thank you Kermit!

  • i feel like i'm the only one who understand why he did that and what he did was cool and he got a great effect.

  • A what?

  • Damnit KipKay... I'm trying to sleep.

  • this is retarded..

  • ive got an idea... how about you get the lens and attach it to your camera

  • canon lenses are like: | |

nikon lenses are like: / \

    that looks so crappy =D

  • Or you can do it on photoshop ._.

  • @DaZorrow You don't get bokeh with photoshop, you just get a blur. Photoshopping and actually taking the photo with a tilt/shift are too totally different things unless you're correcting the angle of an object.

  • or you can just use the miniature effect in your camera like iv been doing since the day i got it...

  • lol!! poor lens

  • i watched this video until he started applying glue to the lens surface

  • @kaisar1 amen

  • wtf are u doing to that lens... are you retard?

  • @tomaspepepelallo its a lens that goes to an old camera format, it's inexpensive and wouldnt've worked with his camera anyways

  • @willtruslow actually with an adapter it probably wud've of

  • @tomaspepepelallo "are you retard?". The Irony is killing me.

  • this is a horrible video do not try this

  • ive watched this vid like 20 times and still dont get the consept

  • @MrKifekife You can buy a tilt-shift lens, but this is a way to make your own. basically, this type of set-up changes the alignment of the lens so it doesn't focus light directly at the film/sensor. you get some neat effects that you can't achieve with a lens that is directly aligned with the sensor (every other camera lens) Look it up on wikipedia.

  • @Amblydoper You can buy them, for +$1000.

  • do not try this at home : /

  • the shape of the plunger really disturbs me

  • Poor Pentacon Six lens

  • it's pronounced 'bellows' not 'billows'.

  • If you're going to waste lenses (by gluing them) just for this, why not buy Tilt-Shift lenses? Better yet: Do the effect in post, using photoshop. It takes 2 minutes, and you'll keep your lenses...

  • Oh really Kip Kay, changing the visual effect of our photographs is what makes things look miniaturized? teach me more.

  • @brenhan he just showed it to us.

  • This is a tilt lens only, therre is no shifting. 2:19 hurts. What a waste of a good (and expensive) lens.

  • 2:47 looks like toy cars!

  • Tilt-shift is not meant for miniature effect. I died a little inside when I saw this video.

  • @magnusti What is it meant for?

  • i thought they were toy cars

  • I wish I could afford an oversize Pentacon 6 lens or a Pentax 645. GRRRRR :-(

  • Watch it only bcs of KipKay. :)))) And DSLR OMG

  • just like a lensbaby

  • May I use Helios 44m 2 58?

  • i think kipkay is a rich guy cuz he has a lot of cool stuff and once he burned his 1m note

  • Wasted a good lens...

  • whats a vcr

  • @TheZombie7000 dumbass

  • i cant find any tape that comes in a box like that, help plz?

  • looks like a great way to ruin your camera, doesnt it get debree in there?

  • For short you could call it tit shit photography

  • This is looks a bit like a big lensbaby doing exactly the same. The question would be how much is the price for the used lens. A lensbaby you can get for under 100 Dollar and you don´t have the need to possibly ruin a lens accidentically. But nevertheless this is a nice idea.

With my kindest regards your servant

    Edgar Allan Poe

  • @EAPoeProductions Lensbabies are not tilt-shift, they're selective focus. The lens itself focuses a point, not a plane. This is indeed a tilt-shift, but of course it's all manual and cannot lock into place. The pentacon was probably under $50, with camera, from a garage sale.

Older view cameras certainly lock in place with similar tilt-shift functionality.

  • or just buy a canon 60d.....

  • does it have to be digital

  • @seekanddestroy85 no, it also works with analogue cameras

  • @89DerChristian o ok danm i have a slr and dslr so i can find my old 76 pentax that i bought for 8 $

  • ..

  • ghetto as shit

  • AND! Spray it gold and u got steampunk camera!

  • there is no shift!

  • Hey, that's God, he's giving the humans some tips that he thought the humans self would be able to come up with!

  • I was gonna watch this video. but he had a nikon... Canon FTW

  • Gotta love the miniature effect...saves you a lot of trouble :)

  • how can i54 people dislike this

  • @sladeD8 google it

  • @sladeD8 can you use it to make things look bigger?

  • Ohh I though you had to use stop with small models to get photoes like that

  • A large diameter drill bit would've worked better and faster. Cleaner hole.

  • He forgot to mention that you need to move the lens in or out to focus. Then you can tilt it any way you want. Tilt lenses are useful. You can control your depth of filed. One example is a photographer tilting the lens down to get all of a landscape in focus. From the flowers in the foreground to the distant background.

  • If your photos look like shit, it's probably because there's a fucking plunger attatched to your camera.

  • why go through all that trouble when you can just edit post production?

  • Yea because we all have a rotozip tool.

  • You could also just take 10 steps back instead of making a project :P!

  • @L2DragonHunter You're obviously blind as to not see the effect.

  • cant u just buy a macro lens if its like using a macro lens?

  • @Onysii

Macro lens will bring things closer, making them big. Tilt-shift lens does the other way around. Google for tilt-shift photos and you can see the (huge) diference.

  • you so did Not get those results from that piece of trash.. what a waste of a lens.

  • its just a shift lens not a tilt shift lens

  • light leaks

  • hot glue hot glue hot glue hot glue hot glue hot glue hot glue hot glue hot glue hot glue hot glue hot glue hot glue hot glue hot glue hot glue hot glue hot glue hot glue hot glue hot glue hot glue hot glue hot glue hot glue hot glue hot glue hot glue hot glue hot glue hot glue hot glue hot glue hot glue hot glue hot glue hot glue hot glue hot glue hot glue hot glue hot glue hot glue hot glue hot glue hot glue hot glue hot glue hot glue hot glue hot glue hot glue hot glue hot glue hot glue

  • 148 ppl went out with this thing and were laughed at xP

  • our plungers look totally different here in oz.. perhaps i could use a steering rack dust boot instead

  • I prefer to use Photoshop for this work...

  • "I give my dad credit to show me an expensive hobby"

  • wow the dislikes is the same number as my lucky number 147.....

  • Its not working ....dont eaven spend your time

  • I think you cant use a DSLR because the lens has to be connected to the body for the camera to operate

  • @vasya88 You can put any D-SLR in manual mode. The Nikon looks for two little tabs to be depressed which is what the camera lens cap will do when you put it in. All though this is a cheap way to do it. You can find really cheap lenses for Nikon and cannon or any off brand company. If your all about spending money then check lensebaby.

  • You sound like Hermit the Frog

  • im using cosmic panda and everytime an ad pops up in the vid, the vid gets big and I only see 1/4 of it!

  • i can do that in less than 1 click of a mouse..... is called Photoshop

  • @bowodfjell Yes you could do this in photoshop, and I am willing to bet you a winning lottery ticket you can not do it in one click. It takes minimum three clicks to even get started, one to start photoshop, two to open the pictures, three to go into quick mask mode . . . . . . should i go on. Photoshop is not photography, it is great software . . . . but it is not photography.

  • @gooch69ify Well, I can open Photoshop, open a picture, and go into quick mask mode, with no clicks at all (I see your point, but still).

  • @gooch69ify you could do all of that with a keyboard to get into photoshop and open a picture

  • use a program thats free from the internet instead of buying stuff

  • i thought this said tit shift pornagraphy

  • if you are doing all this for just a tilt shift PHOTO, use photoshop, its a lot easier

  • @Hellhelium11231995 But it's fake.

The point of this is to actually use it how it should be: analog.

  • kipkay... you're everywhere on youtube

  • Arnt you kipkay ???

  • oh my god- some one teach this guy a bit of photoshop! that is ridiculous

  • @satyrix not the same dude, im a graphic designer, and a brand tilt shift can cost up to 2500 dlls, you can get close on PS but its definitively not the same, thats why they kkep selling those expensive things.

  • DEADMAU5

  • Or you could just attach the lens, turn the camera on, select the aperture you want, hold the aperture button, detach the lens, hold it in front of the lens attachment ring, and et voila - may let in alot of dust, same effect, sensors are easily cleaned with a rocket blower though.

  • not tilt shift.

  • this is the only video that they dont disable the rating...=)

  • too dangerous to do that....

  • Or just buy the lensbaby !!!! The FABRIC made version of this :)

  • @kakkelakken Well if you have a Nikon you can get that.

  • technically this is not tilt/shift.... it's just tilt. Shifting keeps the plane of the lens parallel to the plane of the film while moving it.

  • they look like little hot wheels cars(:

  • what is a VCR?

  • or you can photoshop it

  • @Rotten3ullet Word!

  • can anyone help, i have tried this with the exact same plunger and tried, my canon 50mm lens and my canon 18-55mm lens, it doesn't focus, i know that i have to use it manually but i have to pull the bellows very close to the body to get a slight hint of focus but nothing sharp just fuzzy outlines of objects... any ideas?

  • I've got an idea how to do this for free!

    1) Go To the Sears Tower or Any Tall Tower/Building

    2) Take a Picture of things on the glass floor.

    See? Easy!!

  • @scoobydoobeatles001 Going on the Sears Tower isn't free and it still won't give you the miniature looking effect. It'll just look like you took the shot from a really high place.

  • i would just like to say, that it is fucking hard to find a cheap medium format lens!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Much appreciated! Let the the loser critiques hang...

  • god that thing is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I have always liked kips vids why do people hate..

  • @TAC00CAT89 and that is not ? ( asking )

  • hi can some body give me the lens name , and should it be this ? and other can we use ? plz

  • this guy is the biggest douche ever

  • świetny kolo z niczego robi super gadżety :)

  • too sick

  • its really only a tilt lens. it doesnt shift

  • Oh thats cool

  • 2:36 Kinky.

  • @luigi90900

    ? how

  • ive been having some luck finding some cheap lenses on ebay.. my question is, what type of mm lens do i need? something that is variable like 20-70mm or something that is just solid, like 50mm? im asking this about the throw away lens I am going to glue together, I already have several stock lenses that I use for my Nikon D3100

  • @chotheamazing

you COULD use a Zoomlens (like the 20-70mm) but a prime-lens (like a 50mm) is MUCH easier to use once its glued on.

  • looks like toys

  • shift -f = ---

  • you can always buy a second hand lens, it took me a while to find it but i found a lens for only $8

  • ORRR you can just buy the Tilt-shift lens from Canon. Only if your rich though....

  • Take a normal pic and Photoshop it to get the effect. No need to F****up a good lens :o

  • @Kptgibson what happens if you dont have photoshop?

  • @mccoll20416 Then you get Photoshop in 5 minutes, its cheaper than ruining a lens. Or even get a trial version

  • @360lolz isnt like 200$

  • @Kptgibson he said an OVERSIZED lens, it isn't good if it won't fit

  • @Kptgibson

For some of us the fun in photography lies in the process and not just in the result, many of us find taking the right photograph more fun than sitting indoors photoshopping.

  • @Kptgibson well if u photo shop it it doesent turn out as well so actully think before u say something you dont know

  • @Kptgibson doesnt look as good.

  • and photo shop is more expensive than a lense

  • ya know I really don't call that a

    "normal lens"

  • doesnt look very flexible.

  • i thought it said tit shift photography

  • lol

  • An alternative to putting hot glue on your lens itself is if you get the lens cap (A lens has 2 lens caps 1 on top wich snaps on and one on the bottom that you have to remove to attach it to the body)

Well if you take the bottom one and cut out the center of it you can attach your lens to it and hotglue that piece so you can still take your lens off it and use it for regular photography

give this thumbs up so people dont have to waist a good lens for this project

  • @93freestyl93 Your idea is good, but the point is, he is using a pentacon 6 lens, you can't use that for normal photography (without an enormous adapter)

  • @sidewinderAUT

if the problem is that your lens would be to small to properly fit on top of it you could also hotglue more plastic to the bellow thingy and cut a hole in the middle that would fit the lens cap and then connect your lensto the lenscap(i dont know if it has the same effect with a regular lens since he used an oversized)

i also think you should have your f/ stop at the lowest possible number so its fully open otherwise you get a low amount of light through the lens

  • Don't you see black dots in the intro between the corners of the squares? Illusion!!!

  • or zoom out

  • putting hot glue on your lense? hmmm

  • ...or you could just edit a picture in Gimp/Photoshop. There are loads of tutorials and it's really easy :) No disrespect though, love your vids :D
