  • Oh my God!!!That is awesome!!!!

  • @sambora500 i already start searching for the materials that you used

    great :)

  • like the way of your tutorial, pretty simple and usefull!

i think that is the best noob-user-friendly instructions, and that's what i was looking.

    Smart and simple

  • @liketammysaids Glad you like it =)

  • @Sambora500 Hey could you make me one....pleasssssse. ill pay you! :)

  • just one quick question: where do you get all the material?

  • @supermen324 I bought all my materials from a local hardware store (nail, pop-rivet, wood, even the engraver) =)

  • Hey great job on the locket, I was just wondering what thickness of wood you used for the middle piece and the lids. Also is Jarrah wood hard to find? I've been having a little trouble finding any. Am I just looking in the wrong places?

  • hey @sambora500 i think the locket is awsome and just the perfect romantic gift to give to your gf or who ever..

i just rencently made a steel ring for my gf..well ex gf..long story..

anyway i was woundering if you could make a video showing how to make one..or posibly selling one?

    anyways thanks for the help

  • omgg..that is sooo cool!

  • @pinkandgoldful Thanks, glad you like it

  • There were two lockets used in the clips

  • @watch4david In the movie there were 2 lockets used, that's why I made mine which is only one locket that does both...

  • Were can I buy a pop rivet, I searched and couldn't find the right size: 4,8 x 16 mm?

  • @bodya11111 From a local hardware store or online. I used 1/8" (3.175mm) diameter rivets because my locket was slightly larger than the one in the movie. You just need the smallest you can get to use with your locket. Any Roto Hinge will do. Even a piece of small metal piping from some 'click' pencils would be OK.

  • I wanna make or get one for my gf. Man, she'd totally love this x)

  • @Day10Spade I'd love to see the finished product! It would be great if you made a vid and share it... =)

  • the use of a split nail with magnets is ingenious!

  • Thanks =)

  • could you please send me the instructions to build it? its so cool i want to make one myself!, i'd be gratefull :)

  • Care to explain how the lid works?

  • thats ah-mazing!

  • I forget the guys name, but the guy who designed the one for the movie actually made 2 after the movie. Fully functional, much like what you've done. Sold one for about 400K and gave the other to his wife.

    ^_^

  • oh i love it. its so cute

    i want one too hahaha

    well done

  • cooooool.i want one! (:

    awesome job dude.

  • OMG perfect congrats!

  • cool,

is it possible to get any sketches or plans for building?

  • I've never worked with wood, and I'm only 15, but I NEED to make one of these, please, would you mind to e-mail me anything I could use as a guide?

    jrojas_may@ hotmail

thanks, you are my new idol, lol :D

  • its the same sort of thing as a rubix cube it works on a pivot.

  • I have been searching all over the web trying to find some instructions on how to build one of my own...but I can't find any clear instructions. Since you made a perfect personalized version of it, I can tell that you made it yourself, and so I was wondering if you could explain to me the inner workings of the locket...also, how long did it take for you to make it? It was time well spent.

  • hey man i am trying to make one of these, can you help me make one?...message me please

  • Well the one in the movie, the locket--when it's in it's heart form--isn't split down the middle.

  • thats amazing. your girlfriend is lucky :)

  • can you make a tutorial how to make that locket?

    if you do...

you will inspire more ppl like me

  • I would be forever grateful if you could assist me in making one of these. I know you get this a lot but could you send me instructions on how to make it?

  • could you at least tell me how you made it....i want one for my girl....please...

  • thats amazing.

ive been watching alot of different videos of them and i have to say this one is the best.

i really want one but on ebay there like all $100.

it would be great if you could send me instructions on how to make one.

    thnkss ;]

  • Did you use magnets to align the axel?

  • that locket looks amazing. i give you props on making a functional one. i was wondering if you could send me plans/directions/photos on how to make it. i want to make one for the woman for our anny. thanks a lot

  • WOW! how did you make this?! please could you post some information so i can make one too!

    Thanks,

    Marc

  • I found out how to make these by a very nice forumist<3 He was sooo awesome and I thank him so much for emnding my search. It doesn't make the clicking noise but I like it better because some noises annoy me....

  • Hey i'd really like to know how you made that. Could you please give me the steps?

  • this is the best i have seen of lockets good work! can you tell me what materials u use?

  • Hi, great job, can you please tell me how you made the heart swivel - I'm stuck on my one, and don't know how to do it! Cheers

  • please let me know when they are ready to sell.

  • I love making these. I came up with a "soaring heart" variation with opening wings, but you are making the finest Illusionist locket I've seen yet.

  • if you ever do get around to selling them, what do you beleive the estimated price will be?

  • hi, just wanted to know if u were selling this..i would love to purchase one from u.

  • Thanks, that proved my thoughts on how the mechanism worked. Great working model.

  • are you selling these?

  • absolutely amazing. im trying to make one myself.... and failing miserably.

please tell me if you are going to sell one!!

i would be glad to purchase one from you.

  • Hello and thanks for your comments! I am trying to complete a working version out of softer wood (pine) but so far it hasn't stood up to the 'child' test. It doesn't seem to be strong enough. I am in the process of shifting the pivot point for the lid to reduce breakage. I will keep you all informed when they are ready to sell.

    Thanks,

    Sambora

  • i was wondering if u were willing to sell the one on the video?

  • That is beautiful, man. What a lucky woman Lisa is.

  • OMG! o.o if you're willing to sell me one, or two, let me know! T.T I'll pay, of course o_O Contact me, please!

  • I'm interested in purchasing one when you can figure out how to make the picture stay whole :)

  • Do you think this locket could be made with one large compartment once fully opened rather then two holes?

<--Also would be interested in purchasing one

  • That might work, one small point to consider: when you open the locket into the 'heart' shape, the compartment will be complete, however, when you close the locket into the 'capsule' shape you will effectively be cutting the compartment and whatever is inside the compartment in half!

This theory will work with a 2 photo halves mounted each side of the locket, that join at the pivot section. (What the movie locket would do if it were 100% functional)

    Thanks for the comment,

    Sambora

  • I think the trick in the illusionist locket, to keep the picture from breaking is that the picture is small enough that it can roll around freely in the space. So when you turn the locket from the capsule to the heart shape the small picture is off to the side, then the illusion of the locket wouldn't be that it is tricky to open, but rather that the picture stays in the middle.

  • That is awesome! I also would be interested in purchasing one.. Let us know asap!

  • excuseee meee.. where can i possibly buy this oneee???

  • Hi there, I will try and have some available soon.... I'm currently working on some pine models (softer wood). I'll post a video once they are complete.

  • nice locket, where did u get the parts to make it??

  • i was wondering if you are interested in selling one of your lockets? write back please

  • if you google mechanical philosopher you'll find a site that has plans for a very detailed one in the "greatest hits"....

  • i still can't figure out how to use a photograph that would fit the entire locket, though....

  • maybe if you had some kind of ridge that helped it snap into place when you opened or closed it...used with the magnets, of course...

  • wouldn't a photograph have to fit only on one side of the locket, since it would be torn in half once you closed the thing? that would make for a bad memory, in my opinion...is there anyway to fix this?

  • so where did you find the plans?...

  • Puzzle World Forums. Topic: Puzzle Locket.

Try Googling and you'll find it.

  • thanks so much!!

  • I am working on a design plan (flat out with work), but basically you are looking at 6 pieces of wood, 6 magnets, a pop-rivet and 2 half nails. Pretty simple hey? Or is it?...

  • sambora..do you have drawings of how you made this? also, what hardware is in it?

  • how did you get the locket to open up so it is hollow on the inside?

  • By using a separate section for the 'lid'. When the lid is aligned in the heart shape it can swivel on the split pin allowing the inside of the locket to be exposed. This means you can engrave sections like I have to place objects in (photos etc.) or try engraving a shallow section away for a photo like the one in the movie.

  • disculpa me podrias mandar los planos para poder hacer uno, para regalarlo a mi novia o sabes de algún lugar en internet donde lo pueda comprar.... ME ENCANTO!!!!!!

  • OMG lucky gf!!! i want a locket like that! i was in love with it after i watched the movie!!! <3 <3 awesome job dude! wow. :D

  • Thanks, glad you like it... needs some work, but I like it. I fell in love with the theory after watching the film too!

  • Dude! where did you find the plans? I want to make one for my girlfriend for her birthday by May 28th.
