Very well done ! When I was young, I got to sit in John Glenn's "space ship" looking back it must have been Friendship 7, it was so small that I remember feeling claustrophobic, (My Step Father was a flight instructor) While I remember the moon landing on TV, I have a more vivid memory of sitting outside just looking up at the moon afterward.
What an exciting moment for the world. Walter Cronkite, an iconic figure.
The Space program of late has faltered. I wonder if we will ever reach that level of excitement and optimism for the future again. Maybe when man lands on Mars.
I have faint memories of it. During the telecast my grandfather took me outside to look at the moon, and I could have sworn I saw them from the front porch (the power of persuasion) .
Joseph, I bet you did see them! Age 4, grandfather taught me to color & draw. Because of him AND my grandmother encouraging & believing in me, that I'm who I am today, an artist. Like you, I was grandmother's favorite, she nurtured my imagination & creativity until she passed at age 93. I believe they gave me the gift to see the world in a very special way. ;)
Boy are you right. I was watching a show all about the sixties and what those 10 years was filled with. You and I wittnesssed history over and over again.
I was with my parents in holiday in a little village near the sea that day.
I remenber very well that my family and the most of all the other people of that place we went in the restaurant , the only that had the television in those years , to see the landing on the Moon.
How many wonderful memories that day, moon landing and a bottle of coca cola ! LOL

Wow - that is so cool (not the claustrophobic part) ;P
I have opposite of claustrophobia - so I'd felt all snuggy.
