Gilliam's animations were the reason Monty Python was so brilliant: they afforded the group the opportunity to cut every sketch at its peak and segué into the next one, rather than needing to tie them each off to a punchline. That seems to be the one stylistic innovation in particular that Python bequeathed to British comedy.
Here's where "Monty genius" is at it's best... I really like it how the sketches blend. Unlike any other show, this is where character are really close to the viewers.
For Pete's sake, what am I talking about?! THIS IS PURE ART!
i havent seen soooooooooo much of monty and friends. i am looking for a sketch i think they did about oldish guys discussing 'when i was young', 'back in my day' etc 'we had to get up before we went to bed so we could walk the 30 miles to school.....' 'Looxury!' the other would exclaim... 'in my day we didnt have legs to walk... ***(not the correct words by a long stretch) but they go on and on out doing each other. oh and by the way.... I WANT TO BE A LUMBERJACK
I'm lookin for the video of the Secretary of State Striptease from the second series (episode 7. The Attila the Hun Show). I would love to see that one again, lol...
Me too. Eddie is a comedic genius. My absolute favorite perfomer. I saw him in L.A. in a theater that sat maybe 100 people. It was an amazing show! There was hardly a moment to breath between laughs.
I think the most genius part of the sketch is the half second gold fish.
