That thing you said "is for the battery i believe" yeah that plastic thing, is actually to cover the viewfinder, in the event you either want to take it off, or it falls off (the rubber eyepiece) that slots over the top to prevent damage to the glass itself :)

Nice camera, but I like the small and compact cameras, because they are light and don't take so much space, but then again it does not offer such a good ZOOM.

So at first you need to deside what are you going to use it for.

guys, im debating wether to buy this one or not. The only thing making me doubt is that a200 doesnt have LiveView. How does it work with shooting using view-finder?

When you shoot macro shots, do you see how it focuses on the v-finder or you see just the thing you shoot without knowing what it will look like when you take the photo and look at it in the play mode?

Yes using the view finder you will be able to see when it's perfectly focused and when its not focused it will be just like live view except looking through the view finder.

First of all, I am 13 also, and i too wants to be a photographer.

Megapixel has no obvious effect on a picture if youre printing small pictures, setting it as wallpaper. so getting a high megapixel camera will be a waste of money.

The lcd inch wont be making any d;ifference will it? most probably youre using the view finder to take, not the lcd.

and i have no comment on the zoom.

as for what camera you should take, you should ask yourself. go to your local camera shop and try out

I tried nikon, canon and sony. personaly i like the feel of sony. but ofcours, if youre getting a sony, dont expect buying lenses. because most probably the lense will be more expensive than the body itself. and if youre getting the sony a200, i recomend you to get the twin lense set. its slightly more expensive, but i think its worth it.

Always remember the Megapixels don't make the image you can get the same shot on your 5mp as you can a 12mp... the more mp you have the bigger you can print your picture without grain and distortion. but if you can ever get one a great starter would be the Rebel XSi.. Youc an see some pictures I took with mine when I had it on my tube page.

nikon is the best dslr. Not just saying because I have a D5O, but go for the nikon.. If you have the extra cash, go for a D200.

D40, D40x and D60 all are great cameras but only think that I don't like is that all of them don't auto focus with the Nikkor AF lenses....

50 mm 1.8 AF is the best learning lens and it won't autofocus with any of these cams as they don't have a built in motor... The lowest Nikon cam it can autofocus is D90 (love this cam) which is way more expensive than these....

AF S lenses are expensive too which actually autofocus with a D40, D60....

well I got the Nikon d40 I love it. I think its better than the A200 and there isnt much of a difference b/t the D40 and D60 so I just saved 200 bucks

Nikon D40 is a great cam... congrats....

You could get the 18-200 mm VR AFS lens later on.... awesome lens ... bit expensive but worth it as you won't need to change lenses much as its a all in one lens 18 wide to 200mm telephoto...

d60 has the same sensor and pics looks worse. yes nikon have many many great lens. but no built-in anti shake technology. built in the lens which cost alot more. d40 is crap now the a200 shits on it even the d60 in alot of situations. a big plus for the sony the take most of the minolta lens...soo.....

Do you miss the liveview ?

I first wanted to go for one of those because they have a great imagequality and it has the AF-Bayonett ( so i can use all the old minolte objectives i have left)

but i want to do macro photography so i guess i will have no other choice then going on a 300 and spending 80€ more.

I would advise you to get a memory card reader. Because when you transfer photos from the camera with a usb cord it drains it drains a lot of battery power.

Good choice, Candice. Sonys cameras are actually fantastic. I was a huge huge fan of the old F828 model they produced.

Great unboxing as well. Id say down the road invest in a new flash, the built in flash is nice but you can really improve the look of your photos with an external flash.
