Conformist make jokes about hipsters because they know that they'll get approval from their internet buddies, what most people fail to know is that hipsters haven't bean relevant since 2005. Anyways I think AJJ is some of most original and interesting bands I've listened to recently, I've grown up listening to alternative rock; nirvana, the pixies, velvet underground, and then went back and listened to their influences, blues artist, and folk and jazz, AJJ is influenced by all these musicians

I think this guy probably has a lot of hipsters listening to him. And those people are listening to him for the wrong reasons. If you can listen to this music because you feel what he feels and because you support his message, which is ultimately the triumph of humanity in spite of itself, the paradoxical oxymoron of living, then you can enjoy it and probably enjoy life, since his music is like life. It's far from perfect. It's not aesthetically beautiful. It's just there. It's just real.

@thedtiltriptide i have to disagree about how you should listen to music based on their lyrics and how you feel about them. a band with both great lyrics and musical talent is genius. music with just a great beat but shitty lyrics is just good. music with only good lyrics, which is what i think this is, is just an awkward poem with bad music in the background. let me just say that this is my opinion. i dont want a horde of people bitching at me without them backing their ideas up.

@thedtiltriptide How can you say someone is listening to a band for the wrong reason? People listen to different bands for a wide amount of reasons. Whether it be for the lyrics, the message, the sound quality, so on and so on.. Now while I do agree with what you just said, or most of it anyways, it's musical genocide to tell others what they should think about music. Music isn't a selfish thing, it has different meanings to different people whether a band intends on it or not.

you said it perfectly. when i first heard this i barely liked it, and after listening to the words i realized it is some of the realest music. i dont listen to anything like AJJ but i either relate to the lyrics or auctually understand the message, which most people dont and all they hear is singing and guitar and consider it shitty. but you said it perfectly

What evidence do you have that one subculture would enjoy this artist for the wrong reasons? Just because someone likes to wear scarves and thick rimmed glasses doesnt mean that they have no music taste, or that they would have any reason to like this beyond enjoyment of the music.
