  • How many cameras did you need for the filming of this piece?

  • we're reading this in my English class

  • oh boy! if u really wanna know the truth. this kills me. this video makes wanna puke. and i really really mean it! i realy do. this exactly is what Holden hates, movies. bunch of phonies together and all, u practically c em morons trying too hard acting it, cuz they know u r watching, thats the problem when u cant focus.oh boy! i m usually not that mean, i donno how that came out. i m sorry! u r probably a nice guy. but goddamn it doesnt take a bad person to get u depressed! more ScotchNcoke

  • @AiZaiXinTou you spend waaaay too much time on youtube.

  • AND he didn't even get his jacket back!!! Nor is the hunting hat red.. :( Pretty good though!

  • Just a suggestion, you shouldn't really pan when switching the shot from person to person... I mean I'm not saying it's bad, but it just doesn't look as good... Especially if the person you're panning to starts to talk right after the previous.

  • erm, Holden kind of lacks hatred. hehe. however, the direction of the whole film is awesome. Great job Mr/Ms. director. :D

  • impressive....very impressive...altho stradlaters acting was not very good he seemed lost or nervous...almost as if he were reading the lines off cue cards just out of curiosity what grade did you get on this?

  • HA HA!! I LOVE THAT BOOK. THIS IS FUNNY...

  • where was this taken at? school? cause if so thats a pretty damn awesome school!

  • Cool

  • Wow! This is beautiful, everything is mostly right. Except Ackley, but very beautiful!

  • "I'm done with that swiiine"

    haha

and @misfitsg17, chill out, its a good effort

  • put part 2 up

  • Stradlater's shoulders look like they belong to a little girl!

  • damn, this is really good man.

  • oh wow for a skul project u guys did an AWESOME job. lol potpie?

  • omfg their some bad as actors like wtf!....gosh j.d wasrie about not making this a movie..:o

  • @crazypeacelova4u

SHUT UP U IDOT! THEY ARE GOOD! READ THE BOOK! HES RIGHT ABOUT THOSE STUPID ACTORS BEING FAKE LIKE THOSE STUPID ONES ON TV> SO DRASTIC SO FAKE!

  • I don't think there should be a motion picture of Catcher. I mean, Holden thinks actors are phony and stuff, it would be all screwed up. But, this video was great. Loved Holden. This guy was perfect, so was Stradlater.

Also, I spy an Abbey Road Poster(:

  • anndddd. i also think that you should upload the rest of the video. i would really love to see it. catcher in the rye is my fave book. and you look exactly like how i imagined him to look like. alsssooo.... this video is perfect.

  • it was reallyyy good! good job guys. i love that book.

  • dude, you're cute. and this is an amazing vid.

  • A great writer has died today...RIP JD Salinger.

  • I feel like I lost a really cool uncle that I got to see too far and inbetween... Gonna read Franny and Zooey tonight while getting hammered in hs name! Cheers.

  • HE HAD A RED CAP >:0

  • not very good...

  • i thought the story started when he was on top of a hill, Thompson hill

  • Why are you insulting Salinger? The man was a genius and this is just pissing me off.

  • is it really that hard to make a good film adaptation of The Catcher IN They Rye, honestly?

  • Apparently so.

Its probly not as easy as you think tho.

Taking a book thats been regarded as a classic since its release and squeeze out a film with no money, prof. actors, screenplay writers, or time on your side.

  • Smashing Pumpkins - Perfect FUCK YA!!

  • AUDIO QUALITY SUCKS

  • amazing book

  • ....DON'T insult catcher.

  • lol, the NAMES? that was your specific? fucking hell.

  • I think the guy who played Stradlater should've played Holden.

    Haha, his Rolling Stone magazine

  • i didn't imagine Holden with such a douche-y tone in his voice.

  • first of all when Holden is explaing the story he's in a Mental Institution. not in some bench at some waiting room!

  • The fuck man? "Backdrifts"? Should've used "We Suck Young Blood" or "There There" or "I Will", not fuckin "Backdrifts".

  • true to the post prior to this

aanndd Holden is telling his story from a hospital so yea...

  • Is this even legal? I know it's not made to make profit but Salinger did not give permission for anyone to make a film adaptations of his books.

  • whoa! i like how you threw in some mars volta there in the middle! sweet

  • Holden has a red pointed hat

  • Stradlater is supposed to be hot wth!!!.. ha jk. this is good.

  • hahahahahaha.......ouch

  • hey, not that bad of a film I felt that the "real" actor wasn't as good as his co-star. Holden could've been much better, felt like he wasn't that much into it. however, this being done a year ago and all, I give you props with what you accomplished. and just one more thing, I'm personally into real movie making (wanting that for a career) and if I where you I wouldn't have stuck completely to the ...

  • no ofense but isnt Holden suppose to be a teenager? this guy looks like he's pushing 30

  • holden looks old for his age in the book

  • This is awesome =)

    Probably my favorite book ever.

  • you have too much emotion. Holden talks in casual, nonchalant tone. he's more depressed and further away than that. he's not all in the present when he talks, his mind is somewhere else. I've read the book twice. It was a brilliant piece of work.

  • If you read this book, you will wind up thinking everyone is a phoney. However,it is a great book.

  • Holden is the biggest phoney. That's half of the point.

  • I strongly disagree. A phoney is someone who pretends to be someone he is not, someone who is not real.this is different from lying for fun or imagining you are someone else. a phoney Knows that he is.

  • too bad there won't be a real movie for this brilliant piece of literature.

  • Any movie they could make would ruin it.

  • Not if it starred Milo Ventimiglia

  • Who is Milo Ventimiglia? Did you know there are a lot of similarities between Holden and Huckleberry Finn? They are both truthful and both alienated from society. They both have basically no parents, like their parents don't care about them. Holden has Phoebe though.

  • i liked it, good job...

    where's another parts?

and could you tell me whats the name of the song by smashing pumpkins

  • good job guys! u can be actors i guess:) and i read this book for my year 12 :)

  • One of my favorite books. I like how you really stuck to the book.

  • And... that was it?

  • Holden is not like that

  • atleast not thro ur eyes

  • you guys dont go by the words lol Im reading it for a summer assignment xD

  • I think that Holden is actaually telling his story when hes in a mental hospital.

  • yeah he is. my English teacher said that he finally snapped at the end, and he is telling the story to a psychoanalyst.

  • This actually isn't half bad. Holden was pretty good, and Stradlater made me laugh. ("Stradlater, you look GOOD!")
